Peace

What is it recently with this forum / club, why are many of the posts so aggressive, argumentative, members hurling personal insults at each other etc
It is a great shame how this forum / club has deteriorated since our proud moment winning 'The Best Single Marque Club' at the BMF. :(

Come on guys, we all should endeavour to get on better and help each other when and where we can.
Too many bad vibes and I don't mean an out of tune pair of Termis, as the saying goes........ Chill out - PEACE, LOVE AND HAPPINESS. :)

I wish you all safe riding, whatever or whoever it may be ;)

Kind regards,
Richard. :)

Or are you just looking for more fights.

You are absolutely right, I have member for 4 years and only in the last few months with a miniscule number of posters have I fet the need to defend the club/the site/myself.

I say posters because some are not members !!

I think recent events, read; DD antics have been seriously detrimental to the club/site and that DD Racers should a: be another entity or b: this site be devoted to it ??

Harmony

I agree lets all be happy, maybe only paid up members should be allowed to post negative posts in the members only forum. Have a safe weekend and enjoy whats left of the summer. I am thinking of buying some nice warm trousers to ride through the winter as the summers just aint long enough !!

Fordie 16-Sep-2006 08:41

Must admit, some times I enter the site after work or in the evening and its only through shere curiosity to see whats be put up and who's saying what. Some of the reading material has a lot to be desired, and I often wonder why people enter the site only to "Stir" things up. Not all ways malisiously more "pain in the Ar8e" topics. If its on a "Nead to know" there is all ways the PM board to have a personell go at one another, its human nature to "get it off your chest" but don't forget, some people like Glyn and Keefyb and many other no doubt don't want to trawl through all the chaff as they do not
" Need to Know". How nice to enter a thread thats trying to help some one out ,some one in trouble, advise needed, read about some ones ride out , or new purchase, See a nice picture that some one has taken showing the good times we can have in this great club of ours. Life's to short to get involved with all the nastyness of bickering, slacking, his is better than mine,he's got it and I wan't it.We all know (or I hope you know) it take less muscles to smile than it does to frown So unless you're trying to loose weight by burn of energy ,frowing all the time will help. Lets SMILE and to hell with it .Lets see the banter flowing more and think before posting If you've not got anything nice to say then don't say it. It is easier to loose a freind than make one Regards to all 4D

There is a DD website, but we are all members of the DSC - unlike you by the looks of your avatar, and therefore have funded this website.

What's this positive discrimination?

psychlist 16-Sep-2006 20:28

More "them and us"............who's DD? Who's DSC?
We're all bikers and come here to share our passion for bikes, specifically Ducati's, their riders and their riders lives. Anybody is welcome, just temper your enthusiasm with the knowledge that you're talking to real people. Not just the faceless PC at your fingertips!

Wisest of the words as usual. Fordie you are what the DSC spirit should always be.

How have dd racers been detrimental to the club exactly? There may well be some issues between a few of the racers and some members of the race committee, I don't see how this affects the club? Pretty much everything relating to DD, including all the DD "antics" as you put it, are contained exclusively within the Desmodue forum, you have a choice as to weather or not you read items in that forum, if you're not interested perhaps you could just ignore posts in that particular forum???

So what does your comment directed at me mean? That because I haven't paid £25 I shouldn't respond to a post by a member - DaveB?

My post was simply a question.

I thought dd had their own site and ( perhaps naively ) imagined that important items relating to dd would be discussed there.

That's all it was, no hidden agenda, no attempt to have a go at anyone and no intention of causing upset to anyone or any group.

My sincere apologies

Phil

Hi mate, there is a DD website but it's not official in any way. It's been made by Dom when he was jobless and bored
The only official place for DD stuff is here, in the Desmodue forum. :)

My comment was; why should I, as a DSC paid up member, be asked by a non-member to air my views on another site, when there's a section here on the DSC site that I can post on (DD section) that I have partially funded this site through my membership.

The other site is a privately run site and not funded by the DSC (AFAIK).

I wasn't asking you to air your views on another site.

Once again, I wasn't being pompous, I was merely asking a simple question.

Tonio has answered my question.

I don't understand why you won't accept my apology for any unintended offence caused.

Apology accepted.

Please let me explain my reasoning behind my position on this.

Perhaps its me, but there seems, amongst a few posters, to be an underlying dislike of anything to do with DD at the moment. A possible feeling of "getting too big for yourselves".... etc ; And your suggestion that there was a board that all DD issues should use instead of this one led me to believe that you too were perhaps anti-DD. I may be guilty of being over sensitive.

However, it seems inevitable in my opinion that the DD series, should it continue, will be too big (perhaps ugly) in the long run for the DSC to continue to directly run it as it does today. The DSC has an assumed responsibility to "share" the series with all DSC members via this board which can lead to issues.

Perhaps the answer is a seperate board funded by the DSC, I doubt this will happen though and until it does, this board can be used by DDers and by non-DD'ers to comment; self-destructive perhaps?

I feel that the competitive nature of any race series and the personal and financial commitments that individuals make to the DD series means that opening up and inviting (by nature of an open forum) comments about the DD racing onto a section of the DSC board can be a problem. This can lead to uninformed statements and input from those not directly involved in the series that could aggravate some of the riders who feel that what was initially intended as a throw away comment can cause further fraction between the DSC and DD.

The DSC / DD relationship is going through a "rough-patch" at the moment and there are those who would wish for a "quickie divorce". I feel that with some "counselling" then all may be made good again, but threads like this do not help this to happen, despite the fact that the original intention (and title) of this thread was for peace.

Maybe I'd better drink some tea and chill for a while - how long 'til Cadwell? ;)

Tim

philthy 17-Sep-2006 20:19

Happy now

Tim

I'm glad you have accepted my apology.:)

Just make sure that cup of tea is decaf.:D

Phil

P.S. I'm not anti dd....anyone who has the bottle to race has my utmost admiration.

imho, most of this is caused by a lack of openess and honesty. some people ask simple questions and look for simple answers. others decide to not answer for whatever reason. maybe they are simply being antagonistic or maybe they have more to hide or maybe they just dont care. either way if a decision or action takes place that affects the DSC i believe it should be common knowledge. if this was the case 99% of the problems wouldnt exist. you can dress it up how you like but that is a fact.
