Alternater nut

What is the torque setting for the alternater nut on a '00 996.

Mine has worked it's way loose :o

chrisw 20-Sep-2006 21:02

Haynes says 186nm

Before you do it up, check the flat washer behind it is in the correct place and not dropped down.

I had the same thing and the washer got mashed by the gears and part of it found its way onto the sump plug.

Do a search on here for more info on this problem.

yep you need to strip it down to make sure it all goes back correctly

Mello-Yellow 21-Sep-2006 11:05

Flat washer is split.

Have been told a different figure for the torque 270nm.

Sounds quite high this one.

keefer 21-Sep-2006 11:12

270 is for the later testastreta engines
