Rival Series in 2007?

Just seen this on New Era's forum...

Quote:

Will this see the demise of the CB's and/or Hornets? Bike costs £7000, you get full race bodywork, race rear shock, rear sets, race exhaust, full set of sprockets, five sets of tyres, and a pair of spare wheels/discs. Strictly limited changes to suspension & carburetion. Series has been successful in Germany & it looks like it does OK in the USA. Looks like New Era will run an 8 round Series in 2007, prize money up for grabs (£250 for a win) and £2,500 for the championship winner. Bike sounds a little pricey to me (if you have to add on entry fees, fuel, testing, etc), what do you all think? Not sure if there's room for another one make series next year (Virgin Cup, ACU/Suzuki GSX-R Trophy, Triumph 675 Challenge, KTM 660 & 990 Superduke Series, Minitwins, etc.)

Alex Callan is the bloke to speak to on 07770 765995.

Wonder if it is eligible for Minitwins as well then.......

How many saw the 'one make' article in the latest Bikesport news,
shame DD wasn't there ...

I wonder if there's gonna be too many 'one makes' next year for them all to get full grids, especially as many are brand new series and require a heft lump of cash to get on board ... could be wrong though

After DD, from memory (forgot to bring bsn to work lol) then the KTM 990 seemed the 'cheapest' (its all relative I know) at ~£5K ....

Cheers
Glenn

Loads of these bikes in Oz - had a look at the 250 version for Tiff whilst I was out there. Same physical size as the 650 one. Don't actually look that bad finish wise close up.

Don't sound too bad with fruity cans on either.

I'm only entering if we are guaranteed the bitching and whining that we get in DD.

Tonio600 22-Sep-2006 15:56

Any one make series will never be a Ducati series... I love them too much to even think about it.

I'm racing in DD first because it's on a Duke, and second because I've prepared it. To me the appeal of the series shown above is less than 0  I may be French, I have some standard
