Rear Ride Height On A 583SS
 

Any suggestions on how to get more rear ride height on a 583SS? Is the only way to put a longer rear shock on it?

I seem to remember someone looking at an adapter of somesort but not sure of the outcome - search for posts by Kev (Skidlids) I think the easiest way is to use a longer 900ssie shock.

We have a 750ssie shock in and it works ideal.

I noticed a jack up kit fitted to what appeared to be a std shock.

Louigi had a set of adapters made up about an inch long that screwed into the loop arm/tie rod, then the eyebolts screwed into them. A few that tried them said it raised it a lot tho, but you could always drop the forks thro the yokes a smidge to compensate! I asked James to weld an extra 3/4" to the end of each loop arm and that was about perfick.
Quite a bit cheaper than a new shock, but I ended up getting one for this year anyway :D

Its an SS paul, and they dont have a linkage.

Phil had an adaptor made up which seemed to work well, or you can get a longer shock. Ohlins DU235 is up to 12mm longer than std, but if you're going to spend that sort of money then I'd recommend you get one made up with a custom body length. It'll only cost about £50 more and you'll have the exact adjustment range you want.

Another alternative if you buy an ohlins, or any other with ride height adjustment, is to have a new spiggot made up for the lower end. This is what I intend to do this winter, have a few made of varying lengths and spend some time finding out which's best.

I have an adapter fitted, but it just feels to biased towards the front. So I whipped the Ohlins off my 996R and stuck that on:) It feels about right.
Or in other to put it another way. The std ss shock 325m with the adapter this increases to 365mm :( So by swopping the shock for the Ohlins (305mm) It works out at about 340mm

So the 996 shock will fit a 583 monster

You will find that you have to turn the shock through 180 so that the reservoir
does not fowl the frame.

Or, call Rich @ Louigi Moto - he does a jack-up kit (as Psychlist said). Kyle has them on his bike and that bike handles effing amazingly!!!!

they work on monsters mate but not the ss as it dont have hoop

851 & 888 has a hoop but we dont race them in dd:lol:
