When you were 17yrs old and about to make the 1st steps of the rest of your lives...

Did any of you ever think about a career in Hairdressing?

antonye 02-Oct-2006 17:15

To be honest; no.

I was already in my first career by then!

MJS 02-Oct-2006 17:45

I've been going to the same hairdressers now for a good few years..

Interesting to watch the young (mainly) girls coming in as apprentices, some make it, some don't... They work suprisingly hard, and do some pretty menial tasks before they to be a stylist themselves... not for me thanks

Dibble 02-Oct-2006 17:49

yep, even interviewed at Essanelle .. but decided it wasn't for me, probably explains my taste in cars though !!!!

But on the other hand I did also meet with my parish priest and had a number of discussions about persuing a holier path as a man of the cloth !!!

Go figure !!!

Glyn 02-Oct-2006 18:09

hairdresser!!
men are barbers
women are hair dressers

if some one told me i was beatifull( never gunna happen) i'd be a tad offended, it's a bit effeminite (i had a wild stab in the dark at spelling that)
didn't men used to be rugged or occasionly handsome:confused:

it was that lumberjack song the started all this

thanks for the offer but no thanks
i dont even use shampoo, and if my missis found out i was using moisturiser she'd either think i was avin an affair or i'd started bating for the other side.
and if it came out that a bloke was sending me moisturiser through the post she'd think both:lol:

Ian, tell me more about the re growth appilication:lol:

in all honesty Van at the age of 17 no is the answer for hairdressing...........i wanted to join the police, now i bet that enrages you. I was turned down by the police:o

Van is that what you wanted to do at the age of 17?

VanDaMauler 03-Oct-2006 11:30

Strangely enough, when I was around 18 and hairdressing, I thought about giving it all up and joining the filth (honestly) because I knew (even at that young age) I could see them doing what they wanted, breaking all types of laws and getting away with it.
And I fancied a bit of that, being "above" the law etc...

But I couldnt because of my "colourful" youth

When I was a kid, I wanted to be one of three things.

A Martial arts instructor
A Stunt man
Or a Royal Marine Commando

But I guess at 17, all the testosterone got the better of me and I just thought, where are there loads of birds and party`ing....?

Hairdressing...

Yep, my manhood led the way....

Seriously though, My uncle from greece (No I`m not a bubble, not that theres anything wrong with being a bubble, he`s my uncle through a marriage) Old chap, cool as anything, 60yrs old, ladies man.

He was a real goodlooking, deep tanned, linen suit wearing, smooth talking ladies man....and a hairdresser, that all the ladies loved.

He inspired me to take it up and the rest is 17 years of history...with some very good memories, I`m glad I chose the path I did...
