DD

I may have missed it in amongst the 'other' threads today, but any chance someone coud post up the results from Cadwell and maybe a summary of the racing.

I know a few of us, although not interested in the politics know a few people that are racing and would like to know how the races go. The problem is after each race the board fills up with lots of individual reports of which i read a few but rarely is there a summary of the racing that is easy to read and gives a good view of the weekend. This might help to make each race more accessible for the average DSC'er

Maybe a general report format that provides something along the following;
results
incidents
weather/track/racing issues
paddock banter
movers and shakers

Maybe someone could do one for Cadwell?? for instance, what were the results? how did Kelly get on? were there any battles for final positions that made it exciting?

Thats a very good idea.................!! and one that if adopted for next year would really help im sure.

Maybe someone who is not a racer as they may not get to see all that goes on..maybe a supporter or part of a pit crew.........

Im sure 4D would do it ..i will ask him when he gets back from his hols..............

From what I've been able to glean from other posts;

results - Domski won everything
incidents - Domski was involved in everything
weather/track/racing issues - Domski told the circuit commentator what to say and told God what weather he wanted
paddock banter - Domski was the centre of paddock banter
movers and shakers - Domski did a lot of moving and shaking

Anyone see the Speedway last night - bloody good it was and no Domski in sight!

Ray 10-Oct-2006 13:23

hope this helps,
thread "oi Josserand" has link to the New era results, various reports, a page or two back,

bit difficult to see through the smoke drifting across the battlefield at the mo'

Lily 10-Oct-2006 13:36

well i guess that's part of the story at least I can see who finished where :)

but if DD want to improve on the image in the club as whole it would be good to promote the positives of the racing so a bit of a report would be good.

For example why were there only half the field in the first race??

PMSL, post of the day goes to Everton :D

CK 10-Oct-2006 13:45

Lily, there were only 20 out for the sat as it was a non-qual pair of races that day.
Financially this adds another full day entry fees to what is probably an already strapped budget.

From my perspective - I had a great time, lots of paddock banter, the pig roast was a really good idea & many did manage to park reasonably close together too.
Lots of peeps wandering in & out of our 'patch of grass' over the whole weekend just to say hi, some fantastic close racing all down the field making me struggle to 'keep me hair on'

The 2 DD races on saturday and non-championship races. The 2 on Sunday were championship ones. Some used the Sat races fro practice.

you may be looking at saturdays non championship races?

the points races were sunday only.

the report issue is a great idea. but i guess it will be ignored by the RC. please mail them to see though.

phil_h 10-Oct-2006 13:50

Lily, it was another weekend with absolutely loads of really close battles up and down the field.
Just like snetterton, a lot of us had an absolute blast, and wish we could have seen ourselves racing :)
I think we need a bunch of club video cameras so we can all see how good it was actually ;)
Loads of us did personal best lap times, there were new faces in the mix too, and absolutely wonderful weather (for cadwell :) )

Lily 10-Oct-2006 13:55

Thanks for answering the questions but I don't think people are getting what I am saying....

DD is getting some pretty poor coverage at the moment and despite all the comments of 'if you don't like it don't read it' people will continue to do so.

i was suggesting that with a little bit of effort a positive image can be put onto the forum that has enough information to keep non dd'ers interested without getting into the personal side of things and with no politics.

example

Cadwell report:

Results can be found here...

This weekend saw the final round of the DD series with some close battles between the racers despite the titles already being awarded. Some racers go an extra race in on saturday despite this being a non points round.

With great weather and good track conditions there were few crashes and some lap records were beaten.

Some new faces joined the racing on Sunday in preparation for a full season next year. Kelly Ford made her first outing on the championship winning 583 and seemed to get to grips with the competion pretty quickly.

saturday night saw a hog roast to celebrate the season with many racers and non racers alike joinging in the fun and banter.

Many prospective racers for 2007 made the trip including DCR who was seen grinning madly whilst picking up his new slowery steed from Grib who has moved up to the 620 class.

do people get what i am saying here??

I did have someone recording each of the DD races for Saturday and Sunday. Not the whole races mind, and the focus will probably be ME! (Also recorded Saturday's F400 races). So, hold on tight and when I get a chance to download the footage from the camera and put a little edit together I'll post it online.

And Lily, I think a lot of us do write individual reports and post them in various places (mine's here - http://kapitalmoto.co.uk/node/167) but I agree that an overall DD race report is a good idea.

Yep, I have read some of the individual reports, but no offence, if you don't know someone they can get a bit tedious, especially if you are not into racing as many non dd dsc'ers are.

Coming in on a Monday and seeing 10 different personal reports is good and they are worth posting so people can see them if they want to, but to cover a wider audience and promote the events a general report would be easier. It could also be used for promotion on other sites (DUK?) if wanted.

I am guessing the average non racer si not too interested whether a person they have never met before had sausage or bacon rolls for breakfast and had a good might sleep etc but they might be interested in the overall picture.

Hmmmm - the reports are out there somewhere, but its all become a bit cynical on here, it seems that the DD has divided the DSC. DD'ers mainly want to talk about DD and non-DD'ers mainly don't. And both entities don't want to read about the other side, but do it anyway!!!

Its a shame, but its a long Winter when we can get back to good old fashioned arguing about the 998 shape being better than the 999 ;)

Its created a Monster!!!

Tim

Lily 10-Oct-2006 14:20

Not certain it has divided the club Tim, more people are just bored of it.

The racers bicker amongst themselves and the non dd'ers look on in fascination not really understanding why or what it's all about. Sometimes it gets to the point where it really does paint a negative picture, when in fact I think that most folks agree that in principle DD is actually pretty good.

I think non racers would be more interested in DD if it wasn't so bitchy all the time and we just got to hear about the racing and the fun side of it.

By having a general report it would mean that people would not get fed up with it. Personally I find that I am reading threads that go into the detail when I was just trying to see how the weekend went.

And I know the personal reports are out there, but sometimes they really do get a bit dull with so much detail that your average non dd'er is gonna switch off.

Well said Lily. Think it pretty much sums up what a lot of the non-DDers do think. Certainly I do.

I get what you're saying Lily. Right now somewhere in the inner recturn there is a discussion going on about something like this since first thing today. Early days at the moment, but interesting.

Expand on what you are thinkng, and don't let past events with ideas put you off. I make a point of not listening! ;)

its a great idea and one we should run with

Hmmm - the series is now 2 years old and there are a number of riders in it who only joined the DSC to race in the DD - therefore they may not really know (nor often care) whether the information they post is digestable to the general DSC populus. It could be argued that these individuals joined divided (oxymoron????) ;) already!!

It is however extremely important to most riders in the DD and they feel passionate enough about certain issues to voice their concerns on here.

Whilst the non DD'er may not understand and switch off, the DD'ers or non DD'ers that do understand or want to understand can use this forum as they are entitled to.

Fordie would be a great candidate for it :) and it could bring some real positives to the DD side of things :)

Lily 10-Oct-2006 14:40

Tim

I am not suggesting for one minute that the DD'ers should stop airing thir views or stop posting their reports. I am suggetsing that maybe someone (fordie has been suggested) could do a general report for each event so people that are not involved get to see the positive side of DD without getting cuaght up in the politics, bitching and issues that in reality should only affect those racing.

I am trying to suggest a positive feedback mechanism for DD to highlight the good for the general public so the rest of you can sort out the issues.

Consider it done....................a great idea well done.....and 4d is the man a staunch advocate of DD and DSC....

A race weekend summuary following the races will be submitted inc some photos..after every DD uk round..............

suggestions on the format you think would be ideal from a non dd'er perspective would be brilliant....and where .?...maybe a locked thread/post after every round.?..that remains logged for the season so we can look back.?....

PM me or 4d.........................

do people get what i am saying here??

I've tried to stay out of all the DD posts because to be honest I find most of the talk irrelevant to me as I am not involved and I'm no longer a DSC member mainly in part because of all this bickering that goes on within DD and the DSC on the whole. But as some of you might be aware I have a love for racing whether that be club racing all the way up to MotoGP so I do take an interest but after a DD round everyone writes up their own report, got to admit I read 1 maybe 2, usually Tim's because it's short and sweet :D in fact I haven't even read any from cadwell because of whats been posted up so far and I have a very short attention span. But from the outside looking in all I want as a person who's interested is exactly what has been said above, results a summary of events, non starters, new entrants, winners and standings after each round in one thread, I get exactly this via email currently from JHP/Riders in BSS with the odd photo (ala Guy also). For me that's all I need to know, and I am guessing/hoping others feel the same.

couchcommando 10-Oct-2006 14:45

I agree a light hearted race report including banter and pics would make for good reading on the Monday after the event both for those involved and those not.
4D would make a good candidate and otei always seems to have a good grasp of paddock gossip/going ons like any old woman into their gossip should do ;)

As for paddock gossip, young student Dom (Donkey) Clegg got his first ever trophy after funding his racing with a student grant but more importantly had his first hot meal of the year at the pig roast ;)

There used to be something just like this on the old DSC Desmodue race website for the races last year. Don't think it happened this year though.

The DSC's DD website used to be here but is showing an error now - http://www.ducatisportingclub.com/desmodue/

(It's still the top Google search results when you enter "Desmodue racing" though)

How about starting a thread Cadwell race results/reports, it doesn't require any extra effort.

Race results and reports ONLY no other blather.

Do it after every meeting. Those that are interested can read the thread.

How about trying it now?? cut and paste em.

I am going to get 4d to write a highlight report after every round ....inc results and some photos...then arrange with the webteam for that to be a closed / locked sticky..so all can read it they want......
