Its 470 miles from sussex, which would be 10 hours travel each way minimum, and about £180 fuel alone.
Lovely idea, but just not worth the effort.
Going to Assen sounds easier and closer.

AK 11-Oct-2006 10:45

takes me just over 7 & a half hrs from home with a clear run so would be a definate no
usually ends up taking about 9+ hours with traffic & a rest stop and swore 2 years ago I would never take race bikes there again.

Iconic944ss 11-Oct-2006 11:05

Not being a racer I wont vote on this but, I've spoken to quite a few TD riders who come down from Scotland to Croft and rate it as highly as Knockhill.

Having said that, after going to Knockhill to watch the BSB round - I'm very impressed as its a lovely circuit both in location and layout.

Nothing to do with Croft being only 20 mins away of course ;)

Cheers - Frank

domski 11-Oct-2006 11:05

I've been there and it's a cracking little track, but way too far for me for 2 x 8 lappers.

Sorry.

JPM 11-Oct-2006 12:28

Are there are jocks doing DD? ............I wonder why not?

Tonio600 11-Oct-2006 13:00

no. Don't want to have to learn a new track :D

hawk 11-Oct-2006 16:22

Sorry not for me

Rather do the distance to tracks like Assen.....

Horrible drive
cold and 99% heavy rain
Nice Track mind!!!!!!!

NBs996 11-Oct-2006 16:47

470 miles from portsmouth... too far for me, doubt it'd be worth it.

multi600 11-Oct-2006 18:42

No, too far for two short races. Rather spend the time and money going to Assen.

Just a thought. If DD can make it to Assen why not Knockhill? (Apologies in advance if that is far too simple a question). As the DSC has lost the right to having any meaningful representation north of the border due to neglect - Ducati up North stepped into the breach - wouldn't a DD race at Knockhill be a great way to try and re-establish the club north of the border?

henners see my earlier post.

could never afford assen AND croft in a season and i hate driving for bleeding hours.

:)

domski 11-Oct-2006 21:22

I think that a Ducati spectacular at Assen is barely comparable with a club meeting at Knockhill - as nice as the track is and all that ;)

No offence like :)

Is it March yet?

Henners 11-Oct-2006 21:23

Well ... clearly the Dutch have someting the Scottish don't !

Assen???

;)

Henners 11-Oct-2006 21:33

Yeah ..

but you've won there Dom - don't you want a fresh challenge for 2007???

dickieducati 11-Oct-2006 21:34

unfortunately with only 11 wanting to, even allowing for those that dont use the board then in reality its a non starter. shame but the simple logistics are its a chuffing long way for the vast majority of the people. still worth a look.
its funny that assen is nearer, but there you go and it wasnt such a bad weekend!

Nah, I want to do 2006 all over again please :D

Besides I've already had a Pole Position at Knockershill, back in the CB500 days - although I managed to complete the first lap in 27th place!!

I'll race anywhere anytime to be honest, I'm a racing *****
