Another SP4 joins the DSC......... After selling the 996 in May, i had been looking for a more interesting to come along. In July, i bought back my mint ZZR1100 that i sold to a mate in 1999, which still only has 13k on the clock and then last saturday, bought an SP4! Chuffed - you bet :) The bike is not original as the bodywork looks more like an SP5, with it's white seat unit and white headlight fairing. Anyway, i reckon it will tidy up ok after being in storage for a couple or years and should be a good winter project. So, i now need a load of bits, to restore it to original. I plan to get the body repainted with the correct logos etc, unless anyone has, or knows of an original seat and headlight panel for sale ? Also needed: -Standard ally termis, as the bike has carbons, which i am keeping. -Standard clear screen, although if anyone has a tinted one, i would be interested. -Rear undertray, as the mudguard seems to have been chopped off. -Rear light and n/s front indicator lenses. Does anyone have any of these, or know where i might find them? Cheers ps.Thanks to Weeveetwin for answering endless e-mails of SP4 questions before buying. |
Who's a lucky boy then?:) If you get stuck then these might do you http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/N-DUCATI-BLINK...QQcmdZViewItem |
Well done that man! If an 888 screen is the same as 93 900ss then I have a nice Zero Gravity screen still waiting to be sold. Cheers - Frank |
Ooooh!!! SO jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations, very nice toy indeed! |

Indicators from Ducati - dead cheap too |
Hi Gary By the sounds of it, your winter D.I.Y jobs are going to be put on the back-burner! Don't know if you've got a manual for the bike, but here's one if you want to download it. (It's approx. 65MB) http://www.blackbears.ru/manual/file...ice_Manual.zip |
Brilliant! WVT, you must have read my mind, as a manual was what i forgot to put on my shopping list. I've got to get stuck into this DIY soon, but i am going to take it round to Alf's and get him to check the engine over, replace the belts and do the valve clearances etc. Then i'll put it away for the winter whilst i source the other bits and pieces. Thanks for the leads so far, i'll give JHP a call about the undertray and get the lights ordered from Ducati for starters. Cheers |

A RUSSIAN website !!!! I'm not sure I trust russian websites ... but anyway ... how the hell do you find anything on it ??? |
'didn't spot the RU at the end of that link and my pc told me that it would take 18hours to download the file! That can't be right, can it? |
Hi guys I've already downloaded this manual, and now have it on my hard-drive. Whether I used the above link, or this one: http://www.diff.ru:8000/Ducati_888_Service_Manual.zip I'm not completely sure! Gary - I can't remember how long it took me to download, but it was nowhere near that long! (Broadband?) It's a copy of the same 'official' manual I have in a binder. Steve ps. You can get a copy here too: http://www.duc.nu/manuals/ for a small charge. |
I've uploaded a working PDF copy (more than most copies on the web seem to do...) of the manual to some webspace. You can find it here http://www.mooload.com/new/file.php?...ice_Manual.pdf It's about 60 odd megabites but the download is as quick as you like. Maxed out my 4 meg connection... Darren |

That is a very slow website Steve, but back up one level and there is an impressive list of manuals: http://www.diff.ru:8000/ I'm downloading the Duke parts list now (2003 out of interest) and my Firefox browser is telling me the 60Mb file will take 8 hours or so to download :o Good Luck - Frank ps - Steve what happening with yours - hope you are keeping it so we can have a ride on each others bikes (next year !!!!!) |
I have the 888 manual,SP5 parts list and 1993 Corsa parts lists on CD-Rom if you want them or pdf if you want them e-mailing. |
Morning Jasp !!! Hiya Darren - didnt realise you had a T8 !!! What a silly boy I am - I already have the same manual in DVD I got from FleaBay. Still the mooload site is interesting and fast - might have to explore that a bit more, no way to browse it though :( F |
Hi Frank I finally sold my 888 Strada just last Saturday - so you're out of luck with that one! My SP4 is currently SORN'd waiting for a fork/shock rebuild and valve clearance check. If I had somewhere to do the job I'd have it stripped down already, but failing that, I may well have to look for a dealer here in the NE who might be trusted with it. (I did note the Reactive Suspension link you posted earlier. I may give them a bell if I can get the 'springy' bits off the bike in the limited space I have to work). My nearest Ducati dealer is M&S in Newcastle, and the chances of me giving them any work are slim (to say the least!) Hopefully, I'll get it sorted for next season. Catch me at Hartside on it one day, and you might just get a swap ride! ATB steve |
Damn Steve, bet you were gutted to see her go :( Yes - I fully rate Gareth @ reactive - go see him on the first Saturday in a month and then you can pop to Rufforth and enjoy the autojumble for a mootch as well - only a few miles away! |

Hi Jasper, what's the best way forward here, can the cd be copied, or is it easier to E-mail ? Sorry, but not much of a wizard when it comes to this computer stuff. Cheers. |
I can do either!Your choice. |
I'd be happy to stick the files on my webserver for a while to aid distribution to all those interested... PM me if you want to do this... Mike |
I currently have three burnt to disc. Thanks Mike. |
I guess a disc would be better, as it doesn't take up space on my hard drive. If you could let me know what the deal is, that would be great. Thanks very much. |
e-mail me your address and for the price of a jiffy bag and postage,i'll send you the manual and parts lists. |
Good on yer! Thanks very much. Gary |
Hi Gary Have you picked her up from Alfs yet? ian |

Ian, 'not heard from Alf yet. I called him last Thursday and he said he'd been at conferences and was going to start work on it on Friday. It's my fault for saying that i was not in a hurry for it, i suppose ! I'll give you a shout. Gaz |
Just got the nod from Alf, engine all ok and has had major rebuild recently. Compressions right up, valve gear good, just needed valves reshimming as all clearances loose (phew). Picked it up at lunchtime today as he's off on hols tomorrow, for 2 weeks. Front wheel rim is slightly out of shape so have to get that stripped for re-profiling, otherwise ok Yeeharr. |
Give Nattyboy a shout, he's the 888 spares man, if he's not got it,or can't get it, then it ain't worth putting on your lovely machine..... |
