Walker gets Rizla Suzuki chance http://www.crash.net/news_view.asp?cid=18&id=138788 Interesting news that Stalker 'might' be coming home to do some unfinished business ! Frank |
As much as I'd love to see him regularly on local tracks he deserves to stay in the WSB paddock I reckon. He's been shafted by Kwacka! |
Tend to agree Tony, but it would be fantastic if he could come back and lift the BSB title - not that its going to be anything like easy Re: Shakey etc. Perhaps it could then be a springboard to go with Suzuki back into WSB ??? PS - The Crash.net site really does what it says on the can to my Firefox browser every now and then - freezes it solid, especially when turning pages. |

Could well be I reckon, Rizla certainly have the cashola to take that team to WSB and Buckmaster appears to be the man to do it now he's in charge. He has a good rep as a manager. Fingers crossed for the Stalker! |
Walker is back home on a Gixxer................... |
Good move. Not good enough for WSB so hopefully do better in BSB. |

Erm....'scuse me  Wins in the wet, when all around fell. Top Kawasaki rider above a guy placed second in the championship only a couple of years previous. |

Erm.....9th in championship. |
Hmmmm, to say that someone who has won a race in a championship isn't good enough to be there seems an odd statement. |
I think Chris is a great rider and a great guy. He has never really had the machinery in WSB to win it has he? Would be great to see him back in the UK though.... |
Quote:
He only won a race because everyone else fell off. |
As the saying goes: To finish first, first you have to finish. |

The best machinery goes to the best riders. Why isn't this obvious? |

Hmm, not always sure that is the case. As you and I both know money talks.... What was he 9th? So who else was there? Bayliss, Corser, Toseland, Haga, Pitt, Lanzi, Muggeridge, Barros, Kagayama. Thats 9 so he beat 1 of them and was top Kawasaki.... |

He stayed on because he was a better, more controlled and more skillful rider than everyone else. That WSB race was a master class by a master of his art. He was seconds ahead in lap times than any of the others on better bikes and he stayed on, what does that say?. He didn't stay in WSB regardless of his ability because he is a Brit, he is getting on a bit, and he isn't a showboy glamour puss. Oh and the others paid for rides, he doesn't. He would do the same again if he had the machinery. Anybody can be fast in the dry and in a straight line, even me. After all all the other fell off going round corners. Ains. |

Ains, I hate to say this to a fellow 888 man, but that's the silliest post I've seen since I stopped looking at the DD forum... In conditions like Assen it's a complete lottery and pure chance as to who stays on and who falls off. Walker is a "better, more controlled and more skillful" rider than Bayliss, Barros, Corser, Haga etc? Don't think so!!! |
Must have been BC, he stayed on, they fell off what's more he was staying on and lapping faster than they were. Ains. |
CW is a man who knows how to overcome adversity in racing, mega disappointment after losing the BSB crown due to machine failure, Bells palsy, being trated as a second class citizen by his team and hanging on in there in dire conditions at Assen, Tenacity deserves some reward IMHO. One day he'll loose the underdog tag and become top dog if there is any justice. Ray. |

Thank you |
Top bloke Chris Walker, but he doesn't just have that edge, that consistency. Toseland had the better of him, and I'm not overly convinced that JT has true star quality... Strange things happen in wet races, agree that to finish first, first you must finish and it was a real win, but it's a bit like saying Jenson Button's a top-line F1 driver, just because he won a race in the wet... Do it in the dry and I'll believe it |

I thought Walker and Buckmaster had a big falling out  |
Think they did when he left them but I heard they had patched it up.... |
Hasn't done Bayliss any harm taking a step back this year. |
Quote:
With the greatest respect to Troy, isn't that because he's a great superbike rider, but not right up there with the best of the GP riders? How many superbike riders succesfully make the switch to GP? OK, Haga, Xaus and Hodgson all went to second rate outfits perhaps, but Edwards and Bayliss have both ridden front line bikes, but not performed as well as their GP-nurtured team-mates. |

ffs I didn't say he wasn't a great guy, just not in the very top rank of WSB riders imo (which must surely be obvious?) get off your high horse ferchrissake |
Guys there is a real big difference between WSB & Motogp. Total difference animals. There was articals written that said that Barros will win the title and be up front all the time!! There has only been one true Motogp to WSB rider and that was John K. Yes I know there was Frankie etc etc... Max will have problems next year. You cannot compare these 2 championships it's like having F1 & GT series. |

And Kevin Shwantz and Wayne Gardner. They were both big 4 stroke bikers before jumping to GP's. In fact most of the owd boys were, Lawson, Rainey, et al. Ains. |
