Trouser reccomendations please

I already have a pair of leather trousers and some Draggin jeans but after last winter and fighting with my all in one waterproof suit everytime it looks like rain I think want some "Cordura" trousers. My preference is for quality and comfort, unfortunately I need 42/44" waist with 31" inside legs so that will limit my choice but I would be grateful to hear other peeps experiences/personal product reviews.

Does anyone have them made to measure ?

I've riden through the winter at 6am M25 wearing Hein Gerricke Master 4's with no lining in them, warm, waterproof and comfortable.
I now use Rukka stuff which is a bit more expensive, so it depends on your budget.

Make no compromises - RUKKA RUKKA RUKKA

For safety, warmth, monsoon proof, comfort and a 5yr guarantee that they stick by in my experience.

Couple of UK sites have the trouser and jacket range on offer at the moment - try Reddog Motorcycles - but there are other retailers.

I use hien gerrick. Two year guarantee of some waterproofs and 5 years on the voyager range. I've currently got the maxwell trouser and so far they are waterproof and breathable. So much better than my frank tomas ones.

i have a pair of alpinestars drystar pants. wore them touring in monsoon type rain, snow etc and was dry and warm always.

It is useful to get trousers that can be washed and tumble dried.
Rukka ones can - in fact it keeps them in good condition. I have some and they are great.

I also have some Ducati/Dainese ones that are lovely and warm and waterproof but cannot be put in washing machine or tumble drier - USELESS!

Get RUKKA! They also cater for "ample" waists and shorter leg lengths.

It absolutely hosed it down this morning. My Rukka gear laughed and said "Is that all you've got! I am impervious in watery ingress and will not soil my rider with ugly damp patches..."

Massively expensive, massively worth it. :D

Whats wrong with a nice pair of Farrahs?

I've got a Rukka jacket, but found the strides to be a bit baggy.

Instead, i bought some IXS goretex/cordura/thermal removable linings/waterproof/windproof(!) etc etc.

'does the same job for about half the price ( about £150 from one of the shows, from memory) and they are a good fit.

Somehow, with a 42 inch waist and a 31 inch inside leg, I don't think YMFB will have thesame problem

Melnie Mouse 25-Oct-2006 10:38

Also, RACER products, which can be washed, they're waterproof and have all sizes and different leg lengths, go onto www.racer.at for your nearest stockist. the type in question are called Adventure Trousers..

very comfy

Hi singletrack, i see you've just joined us.... How you doing?

Belstaff Trialmaster, thats what you need.

None of your fancy 'Cordura' or 'Goretex'. Good old fashioned waxed cotton with a fur collar. Lovely. And wrap yourself in brown paper when it gets really cold. Now where did I put my pipe?

Yeah, and you can use a reflective belt to hold the brown paper in place. Personally, I find newspaper better than brown paper, but don't be tempted to cut costs. Use proper fresh newspaper. I once thought I would save money by using discarded chip wrappers but I had problems being followed around by a flock of cats all day.
