why won't it go??

last weekend my 583 was a bitch to start, after whipping the plugs out and cleaning and warming them she went and was fine all saturday.
sunday morn and it eventually fired, again fine all day.
today thought i'd check to see if it would go ........NO ****ING WAY.......so again i clean and warm the plugs NOPE try the iridium plugs from the 750 NOPE.
i have fresh fuel which is getting in as i noteed the plugs where wet at one point, 2 sets of ngk plugs both giving spark............
SO WHY WON'T IT FIRE:mad: :(

I've sent you my no u2u

MonstaTom 14-Oct-2006 19:00

may have been the sight of the 750 replacement lump.

Shandy 14-Oct-2006 22:30

I can't help with the why but my M600 does this from time to time, it did it this morning and made me late for its MOT eventually firing after about 10 attempts.

I general find with mine after a fair bit of swearing and stomping around it eventually gets going. Every time it does happen it’s been stood for a while so I put it down to stale/lack of fuel and the need for fresh fuel to get to the cylinders.

If there’s a proper answer I’d like to know though, it’s a right pain in the arse.

Cheers,

Shandy

Buy a can of EZ-Start.

Have you tested the compression?
Is the spark in the right place?

nelly 15-Oct-2006 14:11

pick ups and ignition units are notoriously fragile on them. Pull the plugs and see if both are giving strong sparks.

Or it could be that the idle mixture is still set pretty standard, and hence waaaay too lean, and the weather just got colder.
Set the idle mixture screws at 4 full turns out.

doogalman 15-Oct-2006 15:30

Howz it going matey?:( Any joy today or is the 750 going in as we speak?

thats wot i was thinking as the spark didn't look that strong but the battery was starting to get low by this point.

MonstaTom 15-Oct-2006 16:28

anyway in the end i put jump leads on to it from the van and the original plugs in and eventually it went. i think the cold had a lot to do with as carbs were set when it was hot and i've found a few batterys that seem to give less effort in the cold ( bit like me then).
cheers guy's.

There's a new easy start available from New Zealand-called-wait for it

"Start Ya B.a.s.t.a.r.d"

So titled because the makers reckon they are the 3 most uttered words when a vehicle won't start.

doogalman 15-Oct-2006 16:56

Tom, you better get out now and see if you can catch some of the late brigade. The rest of us are now looking forward to next week. :D
Maybe you should leave it idling outside the house so you don't have to worry if it will start or not next sunday:lol:

katana 18-Oct-2006 23:54

Nah just leave the bike wrapped in an electric blanket

phoenix n max 19-Oct-2006 00:12

Can I just suggest that you buy a new set of plugs ?

Only its all I have to do to the 3 583's in this household when they decide not to play ball - cleaning seems to make no difference - new ones do!

Just my expereince like.
