Will you be racing next year

Just out of interest if you are a current racer or a prospective racer are you gonna be hanging around, joining up for next year or maybe off to new climates (mini twins, SoT?)...

The 'no' answer was not aimed at general DSC folks who I would assumer were nto racing anyway :D

CK 16-Oct-2006 16:27

racing what?

:saint:

Paul James 16-Oct-2006 16:35

Isn't this a bit of a screwed up poll Lily ? Any member can vote presumably so if they all do you'll get a resounding "no we ain't racing" surely ?

Please bring this all to the meeting peeps !!!!!

Lily 16-Oct-2006 16:37

Paul

It was aimed at current or potential DD racers and was posted in the DD section as such I would have thought it would only attract those folk that would be into DD racing.

There was no bitchiness, nothing intended, just trying to get an idea from a personal persepctive of how many are coming, going or staying put.

I will edit my orginal post to indicate this more clearly.

Wasn't a dig, just a comment on what could easilly happen.

So how do you preclude non DD people from voting ?

Could you add "only if its run by DSC" perhaps ?

you don't sadly, you hope that only interested parties will vote.

however the no option was of least interest to me if I am honest.

I would if I could edit the poll but I cannot seem to.

I would assume that folks would just respond with a yes if they had no specific preference to the other options.

NBs996 16-Oct-2006 16:45

Don't know that I'l be taking part yet, but with the scenario that I will be entering...
I voted the first option.
Don't care who's running it as long as, like the last 2 seasons, I get on the grid and have a race. That's what it's all about to me, and that's what the RC's of these past two seasons have provided, and long may it continue!
So thankyou RC's for giving me the facility to do that.

n

stumpy1 16-Oct-2006 16:46

Yes i will be racing with DSC in 2007!!!

NBs996 16-Oct-2006 16:48

Forgot to add...
As long as it's still a DSC series!

GULP

Thanks Nick !!!

Chris Wood 16-Oct-2006 17:20

Can I just echo Nick's comments.

Everything else is just 'stuff' that clouds the enjoyment of the DD race series.

Come Sunday...the bull..... stops.

Is it March yet??

skidlids 16-Oct-2006 18:38

Like Chris I would also like to echo Nick's words

and will add That I will not be doing DD if they only have one full grid as I do not want to occupy a place that should go to those that this series was originally aimed at.
If there had been 25 registering a bit quicker in 2004 I wouldn't have joined the series, but did so to support the series and try to make sure it would happen.
So far it has provided 2 years of excellent racing with the only real niggle been with New Era for changing the format of the Donington meeting after they had cashed my cheque

Zimbo16 16-Oct-2006 21:30

I intend to be on the grid irrespective of who's running the show. The rubbish on the forums has little effect on the racing, once you turn up on circuit the show's being run by NE anyway and I've had no problems with the running of it this year personally. As long as the RC sort the rules and circuit calender out that's all I need from them.

Andy ;)

Lily 17-Oct-2006 12:53

well it generally looks like most people are still hoping to race and the majority have no concern over it beng moved away from current MT or DSC.

It is clear though that there are a number of folks that do want the change and although this is not the majority it's maybe enough to make a difference.

Admittadly this in only a proportion of those racing as many will not be using the forum or have voted, but if it's a representative sample then it could be that nearly 40% will only race if there is a change in one way or another.

I actualy think it may be lower than this in reality as many that are not forum users may not be influenced by the recent 'disputes' but some thought needs to be given as to whether there is enough new blood joining to continue it's growth if nothing changes and that 40% do not race.

A show of hands was done at the 'meeting' and an overwhelming majority were happy to stay with dsc.
The whole aura of discontent is pretty much an internet only thing that has been blown up out of all proportion. Yes there are a few tweaks needed and yes there are some personality issues but in the big scheme of DD they are minor.
The forum just exaggerates the whole issue.

It certainly seems that way. Not disregarding that some folks certainly have issues they want addressing it seems like with a few basic changes things could be resolved and the racing be the focus of attention again.

I'm not sure how accurate this poll can be considered given that anyone registered as a user on the message board could vote for any option without having been a rider or wanting to enter.

Tony

as per my opening post, it was more for my personal views (sorry if that was selfish) and I hoped that the random user would not post as it would be of no benefit.

It's def not accurate but it may well be indicative and from Couchies comments it does sound like a similar view to the Cadwell meeting.

No I didn't think it was selfish, I actually think it was quite interesting. Sorry I didn't mean my post above to come across that way. I think your hopes were a bit naive though :D (you know I wubs ya xx )

Fair comment about indicative, I wasn't at that meeting and I've heard conflicting reports and what was said, by whom and what was agreed. Strangely enough it seems to split along the same lines as I assume it would have prior to the meeting and as it appears here. This is the problem of not having the meeting minuted or suchlike - oh well.

Did I mention that I'm off to the West Indie's next year for the Cricket World Cup :D

Too late! That money was spent ages ago, this has been in the planning since the end of last year!

We had to book the 46 foot catamaran :)
Book our flights, including internal flights
A few nights accomodation
Get in the raffle for world cup tickets to see Australia's games
Dream a lot
Book and do sailing courses! (although I haven't done any of these, I'm in charge of beer)
Organise a divemaster :D

I can't wait!

Seems we've pretty much agreed on something at last then mate :)

Much along the lines of my comments on the first page of this thread.

Interesting poll results so far, we've a good take up for next year already, it's going to be a belter !!!
