Take the bitterness away from the forum - a happy ending!

It's just an Idea, but , due to the current slanging match between peeps, and for the fact that some peeps are only interested in Ducati's and not politics.
and to bring the "club" back to normality
and without any ulterior motive !

[link remove]

It could serve a purpose even if it's only temporary !
It might just help take the sting out of things on here!
I thought at least this way you can shout at each other all bloody day long !

There are 1 or 2 exceptions
It's not a DD forum
"It's not Ducati specific"

but it could be a place to talk about bikes birds and beer and whatever floats ya boat !

MT delete post if you like or if you think I'm bringing the club down !
but I'm trying to provide a solution !

Ps Henners you are barred !
lol

"Lighten up doods"

Mav

Yes Mav, there are plenty of places that users might care to go if they dont want to comment on issues that might effect some of the core running of the club.

Thats why I've removed the link from your post and offer the following forums:

http://www.ducati-upnorth.com/forum/

http://www.ducatisti.co.uk/

http://www.ducati.ms/forums/

Cheers - Frank

madmav 18-Oct-2006 13:02

cheers Frank that just about says it all !

so your now steering people and removing choice?

I cant beleive you did that Frank
it was just an Idea!
people could make their own mind up ......

You have now got what you wanted !

Please remove my Advert

I won't be missed by the MT

Keep your Rank and file !
I'm off to buy a grey suite and a trabant !

MAD MAV
why should i bother!!!

keefer 18-Oct-2006 13:05

I think Frank has offered them more choice
nice links mate :D

Loz 18-Oct-2006 13:08

C'mon Mav, you know you're not allowed to advertise your 'Ring Experience on the message board! That's why the link was removed. It's not fair on the businesses that pay DSC for their advertising.

(That's my DSC discount blown if/when I sign up for a 'Ring Trip next year!)

Mav you made the offer, I didn't want to delete the post as it has some value but, a rider of a Ducati from the Ducati-Sporting Club might want to visit a Ducati based forum before any others!

Are these forums paid for by the membership?????

katana 18-Oct-2006 14:16

No they are free.

I still vote for fisticuffs. With totty waving the round cards, oh what the hell totty just walking round will be fine.

Really are there lots of totty scantilly clad?

doogalman 18-Oct-2006 14:18

So you rate them so you can plug them. so why can mav not do the same?

I was providing links to Ducati websites, Mav was not.

also,

Because Mav is breaking the advertising conditions of this site by linking to his own website:

Quote from SIte T&C's:

2. Promotion/Advertising :

Please do not post any messages anywhere on this site (other than Trade Adverts) that are primarily for the promotion or advertising of any website, forums, email address, business, activity, or other entities that you have an affiliation with (ie. no self-promotion).

The ones Frank plugged are "not for profit" concerns, whereas Mav's link is tied in with his business and can be construed as advertising. Therein lies the difference.

Edit - sorry, butted in there.

So! Whats wrong with Mav's suggestion ?

doogalman 18-Oct-2006 14:29

I could then suggest this then;
http://www.thenurburgringexperience....orum/index.php
as i have no financial or other interest in it.

Well done, yes Doogalman indeed you could post this IF you have no affiliation with owner or business.

Just as I can delete that link and post, if I now deem that in my opinion it has been posted to deliberately cause unrest on the message board.

Frank

katana 18-Oct-2006 14:41

Do any of those forums cantain pictures of scantily dressed totty?

Not for much longer ... BDG is banning wimmin from the site.

madmav 18-Oct-2006 15:03

Banging head up said wall !

Right then boy's and girls !
I have just got back from a session with a Brick wall .. seems the wall has more sence!

In my defence ,
Firstly The link was not to advertise my business as the link is to my Forum!

I am not trying to set up a Evo club or anything of that nature

I am not trying to take anyone away from The DSC

I clearly stated it is a forum that is "Not Ducati specific" so !!!!!!!!!
The Idea was simply to provide a "sounding off board " for anyone who wished to use the facility.

Your intervention will have them all sounding off in other ducati clubs !lol

as for Advertising if you look to the pannel on the LEFT There is a "Dirty great big add of mine there!

c'mon guys get it all into perspective!

I dont sell Ducati parts
I dont sell Ducati Insurance
I dont sell Ducati bike's
Etc etc etc

so what and how am i going to be a threat to the DSC or Its paying Advertisers?

PS
Yes you can put up scantily clad women on my forum but you must send them to me first (moderation purposes) you understand.

C'mon
Get some common sence back into this bloody club !

Feel free to correct me - but do I read that as even a link to your own webpage with your race reports or adventures is banned ? EG Self Promotion of your activity ??????

keefer 18-Oct-2006 15:53

not that this will make the slight bit of difference.
but Mav has a site with a forum that is connected to his business
so whether he was intending to make money or not and the later being more likely, he can not put that link up on this board.
if your race report web makes money in any way shape or form then no I don't believe you can link it up.
bollox I cant be arsed
I'm going to go get drunk

Well said, Sire my thoughts exactly - except that after 'spending' a full day here on msg board, I soon have a 12 hour night shift to do.

Yours, wishing I could get drunk - Frank

Right - so your own private web pages that don't link to your business is ok - thanks for clearing that up.

Erm but hang on - if you have a page that links to your sponsors businesses or people who have helped you in some way ( like all of them will ) is that against the rules ?

I'm not being funny btw! - tis just the wording of the above rule is a bit confusing given whats being said here in respect of Mav's website or forum or whatever!

I can only really say for up north and as I am sure you can appreciate we want to encourage forum usage not scare the bejeesus out of folks so we leave the scantily clad pictures to the pros (dibble and ducati pete) on VD :D

TP 18-Oct-2006 23:21

Ducati Pete is a star! :D

Irritates me too but, Mav isnt a 'paying' advertiser.

The agreement was that due to Mav's continued abuse of the advertising rules on the site that he would be allowed to have a side-bar advertisement for his Nurburgring website and he would offer a free place on a trip abroad to be decided in the future.

Every trader on this website conforms (as far as I'm aware) to the site policy - I've chatted to a few that didnt realise the policy and they have correctly placed them in the trade section or paid for adverts to be displayed.

I've sent polite requests to Keith in the past not to post any more of his own site links, a request that he laughingly ignores and seems to write off to that he is a 'maveric' and above any pathetic written rules.

Before anyone wants to launch in a diatribe and tell me of the things that Keith has done for the 'club', I know about many of them and applaude them, helping members who have broken down or in distress, offering raffle prizes and discount for DSC members are all worthy causes but do not off-set the fact that every weblink to his own websites and services are simply not allowed under the current guidelines.

Just a quick and simple search of SOME of Mav's post's only in 2006 makes for interesting reading:

Minimum Number of times Mav has posted his own website links = 16

Minimum number of times Mav has posted business email links = 11

(This does not include the various requests for members to add themselves to his email listing and mail-shot service).

Why should legitimate traders bother to pay to advertise on our message board when they see this level of abuse taking place?

I'd like to finally add that I personally have no axe to gride with Keith, he has done much to help others and promote the club.

Perhaps it is time for a detailed review of advertising policy on the message board and finally arrive at a workable solution than can be evenly applied to the benefit of traders and members but, until that time, unrestricted self-promotion of a business can't be allowed.

Frank

Tonio600 19-Oct-2006 08:22

I have to say that I agree with Franck (you already knew that  ). Nothing personal towards Madmav, I'm sure he's top bloke. Comments of people about him are a credit to his business. But either we don't have rules, either we've got some. And if we've got some, let's apply them equally.

And as you say... "incoming" :D

Henners 19-Oct-2006 08:25

I love Mav

... but he is a cheeky beggar

madmav 19-Oct-2006 08:47

Advetising.

Darn you franky boy !
Now I have got to start conforming,

send me the advertising bumf please , I suppose I have taken the **** a little!

consider my wrists, back of my legs, backside trully smacked , and a public floggin and stoning before being Hanged...

I have made to many friends on here to walk away ..

So if I have to pay I will , at least that way I can have a "Big" legit advert ..

no axe to grind either franky boy ...

"maverick" the paddock is full !

l8trs
mav

Ps If i'm going legit, and paying £50 or what ever a year plus my membership for advertising, then only a discount shall apply! no more freebies and raffel prizez you understand? just to clarify!

rcgbob44 19-Oct-2006 09:51

He called me wobbly......................I`d ban him just for that!

Iconic944ss 19-Oct-2006 14:48

WELL DONE KEITH !!!

Thanks for stepping up to the mark and showing the positive spirit that we need to improve the site even more in 2007.

Only took me a full nightshift of trawling the site - but - worth it in the long run.

Kind Regards - Frank
