What are the reason you post on this board? Just wondering like. Maybe to resolve the problems there should be a re election at the general meeting where all members are up for re election. Maybe the DD should have its own elected board to be directed for the benifit of the club and the racers. Or should I just shut up and mind my own business? |
you a payed up member |

From what i've gathered - the membership can't do that  |
No put I have an impartial opinion as I have no axe to grind and see this from an outsiders point of view. Or should i mind my own business? |

You are allowed your opinion and you are very welcome on the board. There have been some recent postings that would make you think we are all a political bunch, but we are not. We normally post on here to discuss all things Ducati (and others!!!) and have a laugh. I have personally made a load of mates, friends, associates and colleagues over the years on this board and it really is a fantastic place to be. It really is a great board, full of open, generous, kind-hearted people that will go out of their way to help others. Welcome to the mad house. Tim |

I'm not sure how you get to that assumption. |

Tis the conclusion came to from a previous thread that is no longer. I did ask the question there, and the answer, I believe from Frank ?? -was it was originally tied up to prevent hostile takeovers from years ago. Is that not the case then ? |

from reading the current club rules i'd guess....... |

Hmm - I can't find the original thread - But I believe you posted in that too Gizmo. I'd like clarification from the MT on this matter please. |

I have met a few members and they all are really nice people. Some I'm lucky enough to call friends. Hey this palce is a real mine of ducati information. And people are always will to give help and advice. To those people I am truly grateful. I also must go to more DD meetings to show my support and meet more people. |

Not the only reason, it also allows as I understand some kind of continuity in the day to day running of the club. Also new members to the MT might need time to get to speed, myself being the new boy in the inner rect... ahem have looked from the longer standing MT members for help, and advise on the dealings of the club. Something which has allowed me in a short period be effective in my role. It also ensures, that when one of the MT are not fulfilling their duties, as promised to the membership, there are people already in place who know the dynamics of the club, and some history and experience to ensure those duties are picked up. |
Quote:
So did I draw the correct conclusion then ? No-one can get voted off the MT by an EGM means or any other ? Unless by the MT by majority vote itself ? |
From my point of view, no your conculsion I do not agree with. Do you want to join the MT? If so, what role would take your fancy, which is up for election? Paul S and myself applied to the advert in Aprils Pronto, I know TP did as well. Myself and Paul were co-opted onto the MT. I understand, only 3 members applied out of the membershiop. Last point, is for the club sec or chair to answer. |
Quote:
I'm asking a question - as a member ! The conclusion I came to was that the membership cannot out vote the MT - thats what I said in page one. I asked for clrification nothing more. I don't see where that leads to - do I want to be a member of the MT or what role would I play  |

Mallory Trackday : i've lost the date... was it 2002, yeah i think so. Rain rain rain. The first time i met Jasper, Old Yella, and the young lad with the Joe Rocket leathers sorry. the first time i me Firefly, 4d, Dude, Guido and many many others. My leathers were stolen 3 hours before i was due to drive up to Mallory. I soon posted on here and had 3 sets of leathers waiting for me to squeeze into. We drank beer, talked rubbsih and had an amazing time in the wet on track. Meeting guys like Alan at AJ Racing, meeting Skidlids who inspired me to race again after breaking so many bones, meeting 4d, glyn, Jools and Keefy. The techincal knowledge throughout all my breakdowns and part swapping.. I post on here because of all that... and because i miss it all... i miss them guys and miss what we all had back in them days. I mpost because i live in hope that one day it will come back...one day we'll all be back there and it will be a cracking place to be. I hope to rediscover some of this in DD next year spannering, and on a trip with Mav either to WDW or the Ring and the whole weekend of fun. :) |
I don't know you, Weeksy, but the good stuff is still here. Don't lose sight of that (that goes for any of us). |

i know they are boring documents but its always worth reading the current club rules rule 3 doesn't require any nomination or election of officials only re-election after 3 years , it doesn't actually state how the original MT are in place nor does it give powers to co-opt and ratify despite this happening over the last few years. the one thing that is clear that unless an MT member is re-elected after their 3 years they aren't actually an MT member as they fail to comply with this rule which requires that re-election although not their original position. a rather stupidly worded rule but thats how it is written. rule 9 does allow one to propose a rule change or nomination for MT but doesn't give a procedure or requirement on MT to do anything about it.... rule 11 screws up any chance of change because of its postal vote clause, go back to what happened prior to last AGM and you'll see the problems it caused then and the problems it is still causing because it wasn't addressed at that time. no rule exists which gives membership power to call an EGM even if a majority of the club requested that all MT stand down and apply for re-election As such Phoenix is quite correct on the original point, membership can't request MT all stand down and apply for re-election it can only happen if current MT can volunteer to do so. most of these clauses were covered in much greater detail and with procedures outlined in the new constitution which needs adopting very quickly if its to apply in 2007. after that it takes people to step up to the plate and make things happen, i'd love to think there would abe a glut of willing people to do so but i doubt it :( |
Is'nt this thread going away from the original author's question. Why do we use this message board I use it to keep in touch with DSC activities like Events and Ride outs, I also like to give advise or have advise given when asked by my learned friend on here. I like to be polite and treat people like i would like to be treated myself. Make constructive criticisum and have a bit of friendly banter with like minded folk, what ever bike they ride. Life is for living not fighting 4D |

true mate... true indeed... I saw some of it in a fleeting ride with the BHC lads from Cadwell to some Ducati shop in Lincoln. They seemed a bit miffed at having a Jap bike out with them at first, but seemed to mellow after working out who i was.... Everyone was all smiles and laughs when we reached our destination... it was really nice. Sometimes you see all the **** and forget that mostly it's a bunch of lads having fun.... a bunch of lads with a passion for biking.... I've met some good mates through this site... i've met 1 real friend directly through this site ... Friends come along very rarely in life... any medium that brings true friendship can't be a bad thing. |
oh, i forgot t o say i post here cos i hoped i could help someone out with a little bit of the knowledge i have of bikes, maybe find a reason to ride my bike or go to a social with like minded folk :) |

Thank you for further clarification - I was starting to think i'd dreamt the other thread. Hence my comment to Katanas post! Quote:

so you're just here to bully people then :( |
Hello Katana TBH one reason was I need to get out more, and meet people, (As I work nights):) After buying my first Duc some 5yrs ago, realized that I should join a club, to talk meet like minded people. The first year I was unfortunate in the engine went bang, and was very tempted to throw the towel in as pressures at home; with a new baby ment money was tight. But one thing that I will never forget is the support from some peeps on this board, who without them I would never be righting this post. I really enjoy meeting all the guys on ride outs, and a DSC track day for me is a blast, my trip to the factor was like going to a spiritual home (thanks Anyone) seeing the DD take off and the success that it has had is fantastic for the club. The one thing I have found, is make an effort, be polite and the rewards are endless, roll on 2007.;) TopiToo |
I'm here to pedal my wares, make shed loads of money out of rich Ducati people and retire ! Perhaps in interest of clearing the air that's exactly what should happen. And I used the board originally to ask about quick action throttles for my 999 but very soon was down Box Hill for my first Surrey meet. Now I post to propagate my contentious opinions with the sole intention of irritating people. Oh, that's just this week! :D |

That's precisely my line - refreshing, isn't it? :D I used to post here for technical and racing stuff, but I've now largely stopped posting and visiting the board because of some of the nonsense that has gone on here wrt. moderating certain members, threads being deleted because they offended some people who really ought to grow a skin a bit thicker than a paper bag etc. Fortunately, not being a paid-up member elevates me above the nonsense and it becomes very easy to switch off. ;) |
I don't post much on this forum, but i am logged on most days at work and keep an eye on what's going on. Unlike some it appears, i am a relative new boy when it comes to Ducati ownership, as i am only on my second. Indeed, I only passed my bike test in 1995 at the age of 39 and have never looked back. I have owned a few since then - VFR 750 X 2, ZZR1100 (recently repurchased), Blade, SP1, 996 and then my dream SP4. Ever since i started to drive cars in 1972, i have always pulled them to bits to service and tune and sought technical information and opinion through owners clubs and books. Call me old-fashioned, but i believe that part of the motoring package, whether cars or bikes, is to get your hands dirty every now and then, to find out how it works and how to make it stop and go a bit better. It makes me mechanicaly sympathetic and also helps when breakdowns occur, except that if you look after it, they don't. Of all the clubs to which i have subscribed, the DSC in the main, appears to be the most professional and i find the level of freely imparted technical knowledge staggering at times. This is what it's all about in my opinion and whether you are fortunate enough to have several Ducati in the garage or just one, we all share the same passion. A lot of riders only ever dream of owning a Ducati. I can't get enough of it, i'm on the hook and my SP makes me laugh whenever i ride it. Politics and open personal criticism on the messageboard are not what the club is about as far as I am concerned, I am here because i like the Ducati lifestyle. If I can help out with my 2p worth I will. If not, I keep quiet. This is the Ducati Sporting Club, it's a UK club for riders of any sort and the website is viewed the world over. Non-owners will form an opinion of the Ducatisti from what they read here. Lets keep it real so that it only does what it says on the tin. |
Gary Good post. Buy you a drink sometime? :) Loz |

Loz, yer on. Where are you?, i'm down on shoreham beach. Gaz |
Gaz, I'm in Bognor Regis. Do I see you riding on the A283 sometimes? I'm sure I've passed a Duke going the other way a few times between Washington and Steyning. Let me know when you're out and about, mate. I just need to fit a new reg plate on my bike and it's ready for a rideout. Cheers. Loz |
Maybe even see you both at Findon some time ;) |
Paul! Put the handbag down and step away! :frog: I'l get there one of these months! :) |

'not had the 996 since May and the SP won't be coming out to play until next year after all the salt has gone, but i do use the Steyning bypass regularly when i do go out. A meetup at Whiteways or Goodwood might be a good plan one weekend, but i'll be on the ZZR, the wife's monster has been lowered and is like a mini-moto, so can't use that! NEC this weekend, so maybe in a couple of weeks time? It's bound to be sunny - it always is when i'm decorating! Cheers Gaz |
Gaz Whiteways in two weeks time sounds good. I'll PM u my mobile. Now I'll definitely have to re-fit my reg plate! Later mate Loz |
