Wow, good shots that man...

That seat unit looks familiar?

Andy

Twinfan 22-Oct-2006 23:48

It looks a bit like the Bimota Deliro - tube frame and slabby sides. The nose looks like a CBR.

I hope it looks better then those pics suggest...

Karl 23-Oct-2006 00:15

Clearest Pics so far I've seen, side stand looks familiar too.

Strangely enough is looks like the first mock up that MCN did about 6 months ago. The mock up that was poo pooed by Ducati.

Perhaps another red herring to lead us up the garden path until the models release next month?

MJS 23-Oct-2006 05:59

Look like a 999-Blade combo....

cookati 23-Oct-2006 06:08

those oval rear pipes look awkward and dated allready... thats deffinately a step backwards...

doogalman 23-Oct-2006 06:29

nice to see a bit of Red.

KeefyB 23-Oct-2006 07:13

Looks like a bitza.

Looks like a 916 shaped tank.(Could be a red herring)
Hope it has a greater capacity than the 999 thimble!
Fairing lowers look a bit 999ish.

Not long to wait now.

BigJohn999 23-Oct-2006 11:46

Looks a bit too Honda-ry for me. My 999 looks so much better

749er 23-Oct-2006 11:59

amazingly enough the rider has gone off and left the bike with the keys in the ignition.....imagine if it got nicked!!

Funny how the sign in the foreground is in English

With todays stage managed everything, who really knows how much of this is all for effect and promotion?

Went back and looked at the sign, so, see what I mean they want our attention and opinions!

Good observation Jeff. If it were your average punter interested in bikes you would have that bike photographed from every angle....could well all be part of the marketing hype....................having said that I have just followed the link and it llokslike it was photographed by a regular biker oh holiday in Italy.....

Like the time it was pictured in a petrol station, loads of time when the guy was away to take loads of photo's, what would happen if he came back an tried to stop you, beat you up!

swannymere 23-Oct-2006 12:43

Hope this is not a true representation of what the new bike will look like. It's very contemporary and not at all the bike of the future-just like a bland Honda.I realise that Ducati need to sell bikes but i hope it's not at the expense of flair and style.

yep, the 999`s a true beauty.....

VanDaMauler 23-Oct-2006 13:06

I feel this is staged....

Notice how you get to see just that little bit more everytime...

I think the tank and tail will change before release, but the anticipation is a killer...

But then again I was excited last time at the thought of the 999, then me and the rest of the biking world couldnt believe how bad it looked...

Lets hope they get it right this time or its bye bye Ducati....

Its make or break this time...

So the pressure is on, you've got you hand full of sweaty notes, what do you buy?
A 999 or a Harley, where is your heart really based?
Leather chaps or just leathers?

You can't hide behind being loaded and having one just for a track bike now, that's not fair!

Aah ya in denial!
Ya want a 999 really bad,...I can tell,you know.
Ya just wont admit it.;)

bike mad 23-Oct-2006 20:23

I think what will sell it or not is the power to weight, I for one have spent alot of money making my 999S into the bike I want, like most of us, and will not spend any more if the new bike as standard can't out perform my 999S by some way,
so if Ducati do read this stop mucking around with 1100 this year and in two years time making it a 1200, do it now and get ahead of the japs and it will sell.
Remember the new R1 with it's new engine is out next year and the GSXR will be all new the year after as will the rest,
this bike has to be 4 years ahead and not one year behind,
as for looks the 999 is alot ahead of it's time and I think will be the bike we all remember in 20 years time when the rest catch up,
if you kept the same looks as the 999 it would make me happy but I under stand why Ducati think they need to make a bike that does not stand out as the last time thay did look what happened,
we have the press and the 916 crowd to thank if it looks like a Fireblade.

Anybody noticied it "appears" to be wearing Brembo monoblock race calipers. Either that or they've managed to make the "standard" calipers look very much like the mono's!

Don't forget this one either. Looks like even the Showa shod 1098 base model will get radial Monobloc calipers as well. The "S" gets the same calipers but Ohlins front and rear, as will the 1098 "TriColore", which gets all the "S" bling, plus a fancy paint job and Termis thrown in to boot. Wonder if they will include the dust cover and paddock stand as they used to on the "R" versions, since it will be a full year before the (1188) "R" is available.

wow, the look of the bike is starting to grow on me as I can see more of the lines.

if you look there appears to be a real nice line from the nose through the apex of the headlamp then on up through the top edge of the tank.....very nice. dont recall seeing that on a bike before

Dont be fooled by that, as it looks as though Ducati were running with upper fairing (nose cone) wind spoilers / deflectors (as on John Keogh's sketch in Two magazine). If this is true, this picture was taken at a different time to the two most recent shots by Andrew Tyne (no deflectors visible) who sold the images to MCN. I hope not as they look **** and do nothing for the front end visually. Incidentally here are two more new pictures posted up today on the Ducati MS forum.
