Long Shot - Know any dressmakers ?

As it says - I need a dressmaker - very good one and i've no idea where to start looking!

So if you or your partner is or knows a very good one in the UK with an interest in Celtic designs please let me know...

think i'd rather race - it's so much easier :o

Lin,
it might be worth contacting the textiles departments at various universities. I'm an alumnus of the clothing engineering department at UMIST (although not touched a sewing machine in years) and I know Central Saint Martins in London is very highly regarded (lots of the top UK designers studied there).

good luck!

Chi

Hi, might be able to help you out there... know someone who designs and makes wedding dresses but apparently also has a big interest in celtic designs and i'm sure could knock something up!

My wife had her Wedding dress altered there last year and the quality of the work is second to none. Its in Belper, Derbyshire if its not too far from you?

Send me a pm if your interested and I'll get some details

Regards
Ant

Hi, I know of a brilliant one. If you PM ya details, I'll give her a ring as see if it's something she'd be interested in

Yayyyyy I love long shots :)

Thanks - will pm details to you.

Chi - Excellent idea that and I really can't imagine you at a sewing machine :o ;)

The problem stems from the design I want being in the states and i've seen nothing in the uk that matches it so I figured i'll just have to have it made :)

Pm's guys - on their way.:D

not only have I sat at sewing machines, I've written dissertations on them!

One of my most embarrassing moments was at the start of my second year trying to chat up a couple of first year girls in the student union. Just getting into full swing when a course mate taps me on the shoulder and says "come on, we're late for our knitting class." Never saw those girls again...

There are just sometimes when you worry me you know ;) :o

Hmmm ... Chi Chan - loves sewing machines - hates japanese bikes
There _has_ to be a chinese proverb in there somewhere

:eureka:
He who appreciates italian engineering understands that perfect machines have no soul ;)

Oh !
And there I was, Lin, just about to offer _my_ services, but you find a selection of professionals instead.

Huh ?
But imagine ... the power ... getting a woman to stand still, obeying your every command while you run your hands over her body, sculpting something sensuous that she will adore you for ... ooooh, I've come over all unneccesary :o
