The alternative/unplugged/unofficial Christmas Party

Hi everyone!

Some of you will know that I'm in a covers band called House Special, some of you are regular groupies!!!

We've been together for four years, playing pubs/clubs/events/weddings etc are we're playing our now traditional 'pre Christmas gig' on Thursday 23 November at the new Hilton Hotel, Tooley Street, London, a short stroll from London Bridge Station near Tower Bridge. We are upstairs in the ballroom. We will be performing two sets of about 30+ songs, the first starting at about 7.00pm and the second at about 9.00pm.

We are a covers band playing songs from the 60's all the way through to current chart hits from bands such as The Kinks, Stereophonics, Paul Weller, Eagles, Chillies, Clapton, Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand, The Strokes, Bryan Adams, Jet, White Stripes, Lynyrd Skynyrd, David Gray, Gary Moore, Pulp and many more.

The hotel manager has kindly donated a free weekend for 2 for one lucky groupie on the night.

Everyone is welcome.

Put it in your diary now!

Look forward to seeing you there.

that's round the corner from my office, - if I go by train I walk past it, if I bike it in I park very close, -I will have to book myself a meeting in the office that day as a reason to go in. Could bring a few co-workers.

weeksyracing 20-Nov-2006 14:10

i'll be there. it's his interview for my wedding :)

WeeJohnyB 21-Nov-2006 18:39

Right, been at the hotel tonight getting it all sorted....stage, dance floor, lighting....should be good....just need an audience now!!!

Ian, yes bring as many work colleagues as you want.

Weeksy, if you are there at 6.00pm, we will be upstairs setting up, plan to start at 7.00pm, but do get there early and get a few beers in - beer goggles apply to live bands as well as members of the opposite sex!!!

Nervous, me?

WeeJohnyB

WeeJohnyB 23-Nov-2006 15:15

The band was absolutely blinding! "Sweet home Alabama " had them all rocking.
The lager was cool but £9.00 for a Malibu and coke was a p*ss take.

Didn't you qualify for an OAP's discount??

TP 24-Nov-2006 14:37

The band was cool, but there was this poncey short fella posing about the stage with a mic - what was all that about?!

;)

I suppose I *may* have had a good night ... some good company :)

final_edition 24-Nov-2006 14:59

Very enjoyable night at a very well appointed hotel. Good to see some new faces (to me anyway)
Hopefully a regular event:)

Funny to see Dibs nearly missing his stop on the train home.

but alas not the posh blonde E&Y lady....

WeeJohnyB 25-Nov-2006 21:16

Thanks for coming you lot - stopped counting at 170 people. Nice venue, but the beers were a bit pricey eh? I stayed the other night as I was late in the office and back in early, had a can of Stella from the mini bar, wow, £5.50!!!

Well done to our very own Lizzie who won the free weekend for two at the hotel.

Thanks to Dibs, we 'had' to do our version of Britney's Hit me baby one more time, which totally rocks at the end of the gig - mental.

Think that is now an annual event there, the hotel loved it. We have a few weddings in the diary and will be recording a few numbers for a new demo CD to take around the pubs etc.

One of my mates is organising his firms annual party in Portugal and he is threatening to book us - go on mate, I dare you, we'll do it for £2k plus expenses!!!

Anyone need a band, you know where to come.

By the way, the 'posh blonde E&Y lady' was not from E&Y.

See ya next time.

I know, she is a cute NLP savvy lawyer ... apparently you were due to be having a cheeky drink with her Friday and her contact details were subject to my reference from you ;)
