Wheels are a slight variation on the 749/999, but he dash is nice:

Very sexy!!!!

Wylie1 31-Oct-2006 14:12

mmmm.....297 km/h = 184.5 mph @ 10.5k revs. Wouldn't that be nice :)

variation ? backwards & purely aesthetic step morelike !! LOL

wonder if the 1098/1198 R (being a proper R bike - LOL) will be 1198cc & have a proper dual sided schhhwinger ?

function over fashion every time IMHO !

I meant the spoke design...

ali 31-Oct-2006 15:29

Is it just me, or does the ever-thinner-spoke design scare the bejesus out of anyone else??? Every time I see a new wheel the spokes seem to have got thinner and the point connecting the spokes to the rim seem oh-so-fragile.... Not so sure I'd feel confident about putting 200-odd-bhp through them! :o

Cool...Will the 1098 have 200 bhp then ;)

I'm sure that some computer nerd will have sat in front of his CAD workstation and done some finite element analysis on the design. We all know that computer software is infallible so we can all breathe easy

Always makes me laff when I look at the spokes on my Forged Marchi's......still not as thin as wire spokes yet

Soon there will be no spokes at all !

fancy a Duke with a sort of Luke Skywalker Landspeeder type setup myself !
no tyre wear problems !

I'm not buying one if it don't! It's part of a new EU directive:

EUddvr 126.7.668.9 All cars will have a minimum of 500bhp and launch control
EUddvr 126.7.668.10 All bikes will have a minimum of 200bhp and be so sexy you'll want to take them to Paris and pork them senseless....

Finally, an EU directive for the people. :D

Why take em to bloody Paris? Just strap em over the bonnet and pork em sensless like the rest of us!

Rod 31-Oct-2006 18:01

I like the notion of the switchgear mounted function control button, so as you don't have to fiddle around with the display itself and can concentrate on riding the bike and not be distracted by looking down and pressing one of a multitude of black hard, to see in the dark, button combinations to bring up the display you want. Add to this the new "Telemetria" USB key that comes with the bike to download data to your PC and we are fast approaching (electronically at least) a very well equipped bike. I think it has to be, with the GSXR1000 and new R1 boasting so many innovative features on their 2007 models. Now if only those US 1098 prices that have been quoted, translate over here. If they did you could buy the 1098S for the same price as the base model 999!!! That ought to win a lot of new custom for Ducati. I know the Italian prices at least, that I have been informed of, bear no relation to the US market, but it seems these are pitched at a level that seem more believable, given the current 999 model range RRPs. Wheels look nice, similar to my (soon to be sold at this rate) S4RS. Not quite the thin spoked forged lovelies on the 999R but a very close second IMHO.

I would sooner ring it's neck and save the gymnastics for my other half but then whatever floats your boat!

Is this the start up test sequence and if so have some of the bulbs within the idiot light array already blown? Then again if that is calibrated correctly, I might as well put my licence in the shredder now!

weird, i sold a bike with a dash like that 2 years ago, Honda SP2's have them, the rev counter was useless, way harder to read than a circular gauge :( I like the idea of having the controls on the bars hopefully its seperate switches, i still can't get used to pushing the starter button when riding on the 999.
