Glad we went to an autojumble instead. A fiver to get in and the wife bought an NC30. |
Agreed, but this year I got in for free! So I didnt go with the intention of looking at any bikes just buying some new boots and some draggin jeans things. Bar the Harris stand there was a lot of tat there. I am NOT going to put LED indicators on my bike even if the cost £15! |
Yes it was poor ! Got there at 10am and left at 4. Got invited onto the Suzuki stand even tho I was wearing a Phaseone Yamaha shirt ! We were given a talk by JR and Mac and walker was there. Free coffee as well . Bought a Black screen for the gsxr and tried to Buy a new Arai but it not avalible till Feb. Age |

So it was you, I saw someone reving it up at one point, if it was the decent one on the end of a row of pitches. I did notice another Honda 400 V4 there but looked as it needed some work |

I spent £575 with Steve Harris and my mate Dallas also spent a few quid to many with them. Harris have re introduced some of their old frame kits into their catalogue including the Ducati TTF2, one of which can be seen in the Harris article in Classic bike mag along with a article featuring my mate Adrian's GSXR750 Slabby. When the Ally Pally was a decent show (Road race show) I didn't bother with the NEC show but as the Ally Pally show went down hill and just turned into a bike show (No ACU stand, No BEMSEE stand etc) I started going to the NEC. Hopefully things will change next year, with the London motorcycle show moving out of Ally Pally to the Excel venue and hopefully taking its boring stands with it and leaving room at the Ally Pally for Superbike magazine to put on a different and interesting show. |
Bring back the Road Racing Show to the Horticultural Hall in Westminster! Those were the days proper race bikes! and stands full of exotic bits and pieces for bikes that you would have never owned!! A Totally different concept. |
Showing your age there Doogalman...............I'm with you by the way. John |

Shouldn't that be hallS, as I distinctly remember walking between the two, I recall the Mocheck stand one year having a white Mocheck Harrier Honda 400/4 mounted high up on the wall inside Just what I would like the new show to get back to |
Went on Friday 3rd Nov and all I can say is evolution not revolution. Only think the new R6 and CBR600 looked fresh ... everything else seemed to be a tweak on previous models, IMHO. Not that I was looking to buy any "gear",but what I did look at looked expensive .... no show deals .... unless you know better. Just glad I did not pay to get in, would have felt cheated if I had. |
the above posts reaffirm what I thought last year, might try the show at Edexcel or whatever its called as its closer and can let the train take the strain. |
Was gonna go up on Sunday 5th, but talked myself out of it 5 mins before getting in the car so many people saying it wasn't worth going after they had been went out and treated myself to a new Tomtom Go 910 instead ! |
I went on Friday and really enjoyed myself. I may be easier to please than some though. I went by car for the first time. I usually ride up to avoid buying too much stuff but this time I was on a mission to find a new track lid and got an Arai Condor for £200 which I'm very pleased with, plus the black visor which I couldn't get a deal on but wasn't too disappointed because it looks fantastic. Tried it on a bit of a bimble on Saturday and am very happy with it. Saw Leon Haslam being interviewed, which was very interesting, drooled over the Airwaves Ducatis, Randy Mamola gave a really good interview too and then there was a quiz with James Toseland and Randy on opposing teams. I thought it was fun. I like the atmosphere of bikers mooching about and didn't feel disappointed even though there was no Ducati stand there, but then I knew that before I went so it didn't bother me. :D |
yeah shame ducati were at Milan so not much to look at, saw a few things that were more expensive than in the shops ie. ducati wallet £9.00 they're normally £3.50! A few things were rip offs. the parking £7.00 that's a joke, shame they can't include a bit in the ticket, it's not like there is a town anywhere that would attract shoppers for anything else there! then they have the audacity to say free shuttle bus, bloomin not it's cost £7.00! Just heard that the NEC is 30% down too this year, i guess it's cos nobody got any money, in the recession nobody admits we're having, and with not as much there this year, who blames anyone for not going! |
Hi, I popped in last Monday and you could do the complete tour very quickly with very few people around, it is a shadow of it's former years, it goes on too long and therfore costs the exhibitors in stand fees and wages. I am going to Milan next week, free ticket, cheap flight -1p each way plus tax It will be interesting to compare between the 2. Have a good day |
