1st Bike Duke Newbie 888 Hello all, I bought an 888 Strada 3 months ago, it's my first bike and I'm very pleased with it...but I don't know much about bikes...will these fit? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOP-Endtoepfe-...QQcmdZViewItem Also where would I find a decent painter in the Kent/Surrey area. I was going to Pro Twins but have been put off. Any advice appreciated Cheers, Russ |
welcome on board ! mine's an H2o & paracetamol !! pm'd you re: paint |
Again welcome on board-and to Ducatidom. Those cans look like 888 ones to me, and the guy is advertising them as such so I would say that yes they will fit-you will lose your pillion rest's though as they are high cans. John |
Fan-bloody-tastic an 888 as your first bike !!! Woohoooo, great taste. As Monty says, the zorsts seem to be ones that should fit your Strada. The only size it mentions is 42mm so they look like they should fit over the 40mm Strada 'manifold'. If they were high level pipes from a 888 SP they would be bigger diameter. As Monty says, they will bolt on to the existing pillion footrest mounting points, so you'll lose the ability to take a passenger....but you probably won't want one of those anyway. Nice find....I'd have 'em for my Strada...if I had the spare cash |
Welcome to the board Russ. I'll have an ice-cold Guinness, thank you for asking. 1. The header pipe ends on the 851/888 and 900SS-carbie are in exactly the same position. 2. The slip-on-can-inlet-pipe o.d. is 42mm so that is prob what the bloke is quoting |
Thanks fellas, he has confirmed that they were fitted to a '93 Strada so they'll be fine. I bought the bike for just £3100 due to 8 Guinni and a bit of Ebay Tourrettes. I'll be adding the SP version as soon as I can find one for OK money. In the mean time I'll keep searching Ebay for a single seat tail piece as you said, I won't be carrying any pillions with the high level cans. |
1 Attachment(s) If you can wait a few weeks, I will be selling my mint hi levels ? Cheers Nat |
Welcome to the board, and the woderful, albeit expensive drug habit, that is the 888. I thought those cans where up for sale a few weeks ago............... Good luck, but maybe better off with Natty's Sils. Rgds, Rob |

Nat where do I get a one piece seat pad and seat/tail unit like yours, and do I need a different subframe? Sorry if these are silly questions, but I know nothing about bikes. I did manage to locate the spark plugs yesterday, so I am making progress, they were a bit black, does that mean it's running bad? Cheers, Russ |
Hi Russ Seat unit is from qb carbon - pads original sp5. You can get the seat unit to fit the strada subframe ok..but have a wordk with rob b as hes got an original brand new SP0 subframe which would work a treat !! A lot of interest in the pipes - they are as new, with hangers..first £325 gets them.. Cheers Nat |
Hello and welcome. A pint of Creme de Menth, thanks. My comisserations in advance for the inevitable aggrivation you will undoubtedly receive along with T8 custodianship, but if you can keep it just short of being sectioned to the nearest asylum, you're doing it right. Black spark plugs usually mean rich running by the way, i.e. too much fuel. I would first check or replace the air filter, maybe for a K&N type. If not the a quick rolling road session should see it ok. Or you may find that fitting some more open pipes with a new filter will lean it off to just right. Regards. Lyndsay. |
