colour???? more time spent in the garage. got all the back end stripped eventualy some of the suspension was siezed but finnaly got it strippped , as i have said before this strada is a bit rough so i dont mind changing it from original please dont slate me for some of my sujestions but i want a diffrent 888 so here goes 1/ strada seat unit is now transformed into a single seat and looks good so far and it still keeps all the original fixins ( apart from the seat lock ) had to cut the subframebut that will get welded tomorrow then powdercoated black. 2/ i am thinking about geting the swing arm and brake holder blasted and coated black and fitting a carbon hugger to give the efect off a full black back end ( the swing arm was in a bad way so it needs some new colour ) or shoud i stay with the silver?? 3/is there any one who can over hall the rear shock?or is it better to get a new one ?? 4/ paint colours / yes i now red but what about the fila colours red and blue wheels etc just give me your views befor i comit to the painters!!! |
Maxton will rebuild a rear shock, better than original.Or for a new one try:- s.dorsch@t-online.de German outfit that sells Ducati parts, good prices. How did you join the seat unit parts together, any pics?. |
1 Attachment(s) I like black ... |
Personally...I would stay away from stuff like Fila colours. Too modern a design to suit the bike and out of character, but then race reps in general don't do anything for me. I think if I wanted to veer away from red I would go for black as well |

Are you alright chi ? That link didnt look very much like a black 851 to me ;) |

ha ha - made you look! I thought it was better than posting up a pantone chart for different colours. Nice to get a bit of banter going today for a change, eh? |
well i have started to make some colour choises and all the swingarm and linkages will be black and only the brake and chain adj will be gold and all black wheels. hope to get the bits back from the painters an the weekend and then start to refit it. eric was asking how i joined the seat unit well ?? started of using allot of tape to see if it would work and if it would fit and be removed easily first problem i had to trin the lower parts of the side panels to allow for clearence. then cut down the subframe and lower the locating pins so the seatunit did not have to be lifted up to far, the seat will now fit and can be removed if carfull. then eopxiy glue the pannels together but this is only to hold it in place tempoarly, then use lots of glas fiber on the inside and the resin on the outside over all the joints. the finall bit is to trin the top of the seat hump to the correct angle and fit a bit of plastic were the rear seat unit used to poke out this is the hard bit because you have to get the angle right or it will look pants.after this more glass fiber and some catty there you go if i can work it out i will post some pics? |
i just had my swingarm anodised black, my frame is also black (diamond mica) so i think it looks cool. stuffed if i can figure out how to post pics though.................. |

Saw a T8 in Canberra at the Oz National Ducati Rally 2000. It was done out in MHR colours and looked the dog nads. Ains. |
Looks the biz, now if you'll just paint all the bodywork yellow......... |
well just got all the bits back from the painters and i am glad that i went for the black it will look good with the small flashes of the gold. still got some work before i start to re assemble it. i have been looking at the rear shock and gave it a good clean are there any checks you can do on it by yourself i dont just want to put it in for refurb if it is still functioning i may look at a upgrade later on but this project was not to throw money at anyway, one thing i do need is the top an bottom bush for the shock they are both nackered dose any body know where you gan get them from??? |
had my 94 strada shock rebuilt buy pro twins, about £120 i think, ihave lots of play in the bottom bush, im told even new bikes have a small amount of play. dave. |
thanks for the help guys i have rebuilt the rear end now and have left the shock bushes in it, after i gave the bush a cood clean on checked it it seems not too bad there is no play up and down but side to side it now moves because it was full of **** as far as i can see it works like a ball joint and should have movment bit not up and down if this makes scence. got the chain and sprockets coming tomorrow so should get the back end finished, i have had to order a new chain guide and new chain ajuster sticker but this will not stop getting it back on its rubber. got a monster sidestand bracket delivered today have not checked it but looks like it will fit. after getting all the new bits for the rear in nice gloss black the frame is looking not so hot but i am trying to leave the frame for next year, think i have enough on my plate with a quick clean up rather than a full rebuild, but you know how these things go????? |
