Assuming you were puchasing a 1098...... What colour would you order? IMHO the Tricolore is ok, but I have to agree with the wife, it does look like a "Stick of Brighton Rock". Orange (You've been Tango'ed), not for me. Karen's (Clockwork Orange) bike is ok though - :p Gulp. Silver or boring battleship grey. Again not for me. Yellow. Quite nice. Red. I think looks great, however it would be my second choice. Black (Stealth). Brilliant Black, this is my first choice. IMHO I think it would look excellent and be popular, possibly Ducatis best selling colour. So, what colour 1098 would you buy? |
black. definitely. I'm from the Knight rider generation. |
Black for me too - GRRR! |
:)... |
Quote in MCN today from the 1098 designer is that his ideal colour scheme whould be silver with gold wheels. Lord help us. The designer is a chav, and an Aprilia rider at that... |
Well, I'm still drooling after seeing the mcn pic of the tricolore  |
I`ll have to wait and see it in race trim and colours... But not a fan of the tri colour. Red first then black. |
ORANGE - is that a typo ???!!! |

Thought you were too young for that era? Black for me like my women.... |

  I wish it was a typo. Orange may appeal ( A peal, ged it) ) to one or two, but Unlike Ducati I thought I'd give Ducatisti a choice. |
Would you really by a Ferrari in any colour but red! |

I'll second that - and I did when I voted:lol: |
I'll have a Black one with Yellow frame and graphics |
i think you should add pink as it might be the best way of tell it apart from the rest of the bikes out there |
Sorry, but it HAS to be red. |
Black with white number boards |
Black most definately. WHite number boards sound cool, yeh ill one of those with all the trimmings pls, thanks. |
Looks like I'll have the only yela one then. hooooorah even more exclusive..... Where's me coat? |
I wanna white one with black frame and wheels (with white pinstripe), black anodised rearsets, yokes, levers, forks (with black carbon nitride), calipers etc and carbon sheilded box type exhaust a la 749/999.... maybe laquered carbon number boards... obviously this bike has full carbon bodywork then... along with belt and clutch covers, hugger etc i think the rear wheel design is a little fussy too, so marchesini 5 spokes or maybe something totally different.... in carbon but still with the white pinstripe... that'l do for know... |
I ordered a red base model and my friend ordered a black base model as when Ducati put the initial details on line they were showing avability in red (however there were other errors such as weight etc). We did the deal on the two with Motorapido and both p/x's gone, then was told that it is red and red only. So now we're both having red s models instead as they're coming through first. My mate wanted black, all his leathers and lid are black but at the end of the day it's the ride we both want so he's happy to have a red in the end. To be fair to Motorapido, they even offered to paint his one black and take it up with Ducati as when we ordered the website was showing black available but he's not that bothered now. For me, always red but red frame with black fairings and wheels would also be hot! Anything else is a no go...... |
I'd like to see the race reps first... |
Black for me |
I didin't vote, there is no option for Kawasaki green :( ;) |
I chose black but would go tricolore if it didnt have that goldy coloured strip on the tank |
'Ducati Red': A georgeous colour that 'sets the scene' when you approach your little beauty for a little fun. Must admit, the black is also very stunning - but I'd rather have the red so that there is a better chance of being seen by the myopic masses in their tin cans... |
red always. |
The tri colour idea is OK but there is somthing not quite right, for a start the green is closer to British racing green, too dark for the Italian national colours, the gold bit? well ? Did they just think of this 2 days before the show ? Black for me also |
Thank you all for voting - Cheers. :) As I expected red is the most popular colour at the moment and black a close second. IMHO when a customer is spending almost £14k on a motorcycle and maybe hundreds or thousands on accessories, I think a choice of colours, within reason, should be available. :( As I stated at the beginning of this thread, I like red but really wanted a black 1098S. Obviously if I wish, I could have the bike sprayed black at my expense, but why should I, I'm not buying a Honda C90 (They're available in several colours !!), for me and I'm sure for many others £14k is an awful lot of money to spend on a car let alone a bike. Ducati has produced a spectacular super bike being the 1098, however quite frankly to make it available in red only is IMO a cop out. Some of the 1098's predecessors were available in other colours, mainly black and yellow, why doesn't this apply with the 1098? To quote Twinfan: Quote:

For me it would be the Tri-Colore. One of the origins in race history. My £0.02 of wisdom. Cheers, |
Red for me, but i will not be rushing out and ordering one, i test drove my car before i bought i test rode the missues, and i will wait to test ride this model before parting with any cash. loads of people on here commented after test rideing the 749\999 that they would not want one simply following a test ride. So i will wait and reserve judgment, untill then my 996 and 999R are good enough. |
