Bad timing, not a nice thing to be happening at any time of the year, but glad to see you've got your priorities right... |
chris, dont doubt for one minute you'll get something good soon. redundancy cheque will make a nice little bonus pre xmas. |
Good luck in the job search Chris. It took me a little while after same happening in March this year, but am happy in what I'm doing now. (on the 2nd attempt!) My compromise/payoff assisted the racing this year - but am now thinking of getting a night job for the next season racing:o |
Bummer dude ... aren't they overreacting a little though, the first test still has 3 days to go! I'm sure you'll find something soon :) |
Sorry to hear that Chris. Chin up tho. It was the best thing that ever happened to me :) |
Cheers all, It is a good thing, my time here is done and I'm excited about new opportunities...and I now have the one thing money can't buy, TIME. Amazing how you can get caught up in and invest time in STUFF....and forget to have a good time all the time.... I've booked a month in Aus for Feb and will plan to start new job in March. Currently interviewing or in process with.... Pizza Express Pizza Hut Bacardi Group O2 Musgraves - supermarkets Easyjet Virgin Group Disney UK The HR market is really bouyant at the moment, lots of good stuff going! |
Chris, Hope you are as lucky as some I know, they get a nice payoff and walk into another job pretty easy, some even have another job sorted before the cheque hits their account. Some say its the best thing that ever happened to them for all sorts of reasons. Sure, it can be long term bad news for some but that isn't always the case. Ray. |
Sorry to hear about the redundancy Chris, but it looks as if there are plenty of irons in the fire. By co-incidence Mrs Jools is expecting the same news today - although she is off work with MS (and can't be legally be sacked or laid off simply because she has this disease) the NHS cuts mean that the hospital where she used to work in palliative care is closing so she wouldn't have a job to go back to even if she could work - she's just off for a meeting with her manager to find out. Good to know that the HR field is bouyant as well because the job I've done for years in Workforce Development is usually aligned with HR...currently, I've found myself as a 'transition manager' shifting peoples jobs from Europe to India or China...It's the job from hell and I want out... |
Your a top man Chris, I'm sure someone will recogniise your talent and take you on. Enjoy your timeout Andy |
Chris, best of luck and its a shame you are not closer to cheshire / northwales. I get a gut feel that our HR director is about to part company with us. No tears though from around 99% of the company as he was utter slime and savoured the task of getting rid of people with little thought or compassion. He was hired a couple of years back to do this, but has done some serious damage to morale sitting up there nice and high. They were about to lay off a few staff from a dept, on the thursday one girl handed in her notice after 12 years, the day after she was going to be made redundant with a payout. he could have at least tipped her off. anyway being in IT we pick up on things and i get the feeling he wont be here for long. Perhaps you may like to find out more if chester area is not too far for you ? If not i wish you the best of luck hunting, and hope the payout was handsome |
I'm sure you'll be straight back into an overpaid, underworking type job in no time with your skill, Chris. Good Luck. :D |
Chris our company needs sorting out and we had the No.2 in the HR department leave on Thursday just an idea http://www.isotron.com/ |
Hi Chris - we've never met, but I've been where you are right now (middle management within Mr Murdoch's empire when it happened to me, plus I was going thru divorce at time, and I'd just written off a Honda Blackbird - so it wasn't all bad !) - Five years on, I'm a happier man, self-employed, no stress, better quality of life and no more worrying about somebody doing it to me all over again. If someone had told me the above the day I was made redundant I would have snorted in derision, so I'm sure you will soon be looking back with a big smile on your face. All the very best to you and your family, Ronnie |
