Anyone ever scraped their footpegs? Hi guys I've never ridden a 748/9*6 model bike, but just out of interest, is it possible to touch the pegs down without actually crashing the bike? There's a bit of a 'debate' going on over on another site - where a guy claims to have done it on a 748. What say you? |
That'd be a tough one to do... I've got no chicken strips and clean pegs, I reckon you'd need pretty soft suspension to get them touching down. |
Feck but that would be difficult ! I've got nothing thats not snotted on the side of my 180/55s and I've not got my knee down on it yet ! (So ok, I'm an old cripple with dodgy hips ;)) I'm 70kg and run my suspension soft so I dont get flung out of the seat on the country roads round here too. My ex-sponsored-racer mate with a 748R doesnt even stick his knee out in the breeze, drifts his tyre, and still gets nowhere near his pegs, cos I've tried to follow him. He's about my weight too, and runs his suspension harder than me ... so draw your own conclusions on how much lard it takes to scrape your pegs on a 748/9x6 ;) |
Yeah an this lads only been riding for 8 months too :o ;) The back peddling has been good though  |
1 Attachment(s) This picture has been buzzing around for yonks, I personally think that he's got the toe sliders down. But worth a look non the less. http://www.ducatisportingclub.com/at...d=1 165019136 |
The simple answer is no mate ! Unless hes took the rear shock out and its dragging its **** everywhere !!! Its the same old thing - people who talk about how quick they are - inevitably arent in my experience...the good guys leave their riding to do the talking !! Nat |

I agree, looks like toe slider to me too. Plus he's about 10 feet off line ;) :D |

What he said ^^^^ In Jerez, we had slicks on the DD bike, and I was really pushing it compared to anything I've done this year. Couldn't get the pegs down on that, although I think I was pretty close a couple times. Would think on a 748/916 it's bull**** unless he's a top racer? |
749/999 peg 1 Attachment(s) wot ? like this u mean ?? wink wink |

A slightly different viewpoint, but I'd say it IS possible even (or, perhaps, particularly) if you are a fairly cr@p rider...I am slow as f**k, but grounded on the right hander coming onto the back straight at Almeria. The reason being that I was sat bolt upright on the bike (see avatar), so I needed a lot of lean to carry any corner speed at all. I don't know if it makes any difference, but I was on a 190 section back tyre. I recall the back feeling slightly unstable at this point, but my memory is a bit hazy as I was sh***ing myself at the time. Now I hang off a bit (although still not enough), I have been round the same corner, probably faster, with me being no where near touching down knee, foot or any other appendage. I guess my rear suspension is fairly soft for track use, but I would say it is quite withing the 9** ability on decent road tyres to ground the standard foot-pegs, but you would have to be fairly **** hot (as per Domski's remarks) to do it if you had a good body position as well. |
