Arrow exhaust Just got myself some carbon end cans for my 748 off ebay and was wondering if i need to now get the arrow eprom before fitting the end cans? |
Is there such a thing? What size are the exhausts? You should get in touch with JHP and get them to supply you with a chip for 45 or 50mm cans (assuming you have 45 or 50mm cans!!!) Tim |
They are 45mm cans, Arrow are asking £32 for an eprom is it just a matter of taking the old eprom out and fitting the new one? |
It is, some caution should be taken with static electricity etc... ....beware that all chips are not the same. The JHP are said to be very good, when others have had problems. I think the JHP ones are around £25, any other opinions. Tim |
Yeah JHP have a good rep out there. I know a lot of Ducati Performance chips that have been knackered (this from the mouth of an ex dealer mechanic) plugged in and the bike would not run at all. John, As long as you get a new eprom (manufacturer not really that important) for 45mm cans then the fuelling will be adjusted to suit. Arrow are a bit of an unknown quantity, DP are OK, but JHP seem to be one of the faves. HTH? Cheers, Simon |
Its not just as simple as popping in the chip. The injection will need setting up to get best results although the bike will run without having this done. My first chip from JHP was dead on arrival but the second one was okay. Get in touch with Nelly at Cornerspeed info@cornerspeed.co.uk if your in the midlands area and he will sort it for you. |
And don`t get salt or vinigar on them as it corodes the legs! |
Eproms are quite robust really but Nelly has had a few that were dead on arrival. JHP say it is something to do with the scanning equipment the post office use. If you are fitting it yourself all you need to do is earth yourself first by touching a metal appliance that is plugged into the mains (doesnt need to be turned on, the earth connection should be okay assuming it isnt double insulated of course). Just make sure you dont bend any of the pins or break the old chip when you are taking it out. |
Arrow exhaust when I bought my 996 it came with Arrow cans on how can I tell if it has been chiped or not. Mark.. |
Thank you all so much for the help will call JHP tomorrow about the eprom |
Whilst you would need the injection setup for best results..... ......this is not normally done when fitting aftermarket cans.. ...but you'll certainly need the chip to get the best fromn the cans. Tim |
Roadrunner, If you pop the seat unit and have a look at the ECU underneath the storage space, you may notice a silver sticker on the top of it. If this is missing or broken, then it has probably been changed. Course if professionally done the sticker will have been replaced as it is waterproof. Best way is to peel back the sticker, pop the rubber bung underneath and have a look at the chip. Cheers, Simon |
I've got 45mm Arrow cans on mine. When I got it dyno'd at Hobbsport they couldn't believe how poorly the Arrow chip performed on my 916. Apparently 45mm are designed for the 748's. Advised me to put the original chip back in or get an FIM chip. Got a FIM chip. |
For the sake of £40 or so its worth doing the whole job and getting it set up right. I've got cored standard cans on my bike and the JHP chip and Nellys set up has made a huge difference. I ran it on the standard chip for nine months and i thought it was okay but nothing special. Nelly set it up still on the standard chip and it was transformed. Went from 50mpg to 62 mpg. The JHP chip and set up has made it smoother everywhere, especially at low revs. Interestingly my standard cans are made by Arrow. The sticker on the ECU could also have been removed to twiddle the trimmer pot in there so that isnt always a good guide. The only way is to tell is to take the bung out and look at the number on the chip then give JHP a bell. |
Arrow exhaust Thanks guys most helpfull :sing::sing: |
