New track fairings.....
 

.....I've just taken delivery of my new track fairings - they look fantastic. I'll post some pics once I've fitted them.

If anyone's in the market for some, I'd highly recommend him.

They came from a guy in Cheshire who is a one man band, who takes a lot of care in his work and supplies Ducati fairings to many race teams.

He's a really nice guy and goes out of his way to make sure that he supplies what you want and is probably around £100 cheaper than the same Vimori ones.

He's a real craftsman and is not out to make a fortune, but supplies excellent quality products.

The quality is as good if not better than the Vimori ones and comes complete with seat bracket and all DZUS fasteners etc.... I've sold secondhand fairings for more than these cost me!!!

I know that JPM, Lily and Stoddy have all had bodywork from him, so if you're interested get in touch with them too..

They are the race kit, they need to be slightly modded for a road bike, as the mould is straight from the 998F02, not much to be honest. Probably less now, as I let Barry look at what needed to be changed to get the kit more user friendly.

He also has the side stand mould now, as I run his kit on the road, rather than the Bostrom bodywork

anyone heard of a gary muir who also does track body work had a look at his 999 stuff on email looks ok but dont know his stuff. works out of bedford i think. may have done some stuff for riverside motorcycles ?

..no mods required for mine.

I did have to drill holes for the nose cone mount and seat pad..... but then I'd asked him to not do these, as I was not sure what nose mount or seat pad I would be using. Other than that they fit straight on.

Mine are 998 fairings for my 996R, not sure about how these fairings would fit a 996 though - Stoddy has these fitted to his 996, so if you're interested drop him a U2U.

He incoroprates a sidestand for no extra cost (Vimori charge £40 I think) and included a rear seat mount bracket FOC too....

Sounds like he's done the mods then from what you say Tim, I wonder where he got the measurements of the seat bracket...... ??????

Plus what you may or may not know is he moulds a steel plate into the l/h side panel, where the water pump is... just in case of an off !

....he did credit you with the bracket design.... I just have to work out how to fit this to the subframe!!!

....did you remove the seat catch assy and drill a couple of holes in the top of the subframe? Then bolt the bracket to the subframe?

What you need to do, is remove the locking bracket, I just cable tied mine to the subframe, the two holes you then have in the subframe are where you mount the bracket, dunno if yours came drilled, probably not, 2 minute job though.

Then screw that to your subframe, on the seat unit you should see 2 circles on the top, which lined up perfectly on mine to the bracket, so drilled through there, and then marked the top of the bracket, drilled the top of the bracket, then put 2 Dzus fasteners on to hold the seat asseumbly in place with the bracket.

Think he only does GRP to be honest, give him a bell, he can only say no can't he?

I am glad i got some appreciation for it as the reason I now have a very expensive repair bill for my standard panels is the fact that I had just taken the track panels off for him to take a copy when i binned the bike :(

Tim - when you suss out the seat bracket do you want to let me know :) I have been looking at my bracket and trying to guess what to do. Will try and follow Freak's guidelines, but as a bird I am not always that competent :lol:

Just like to add that you can get bargains from shopping around.

I got the below in an auction from EBAY.

It 's an original Ducati Performance kit in AV fibre and I'm pleased to say the holes all line up with my road nosecone too.

One happy bunny....just need to think of a decent colour scheme now. Any arty, graphics type out here fancy earning some cash for their serivces!!!

...the seat unit didn't have any mouldings for the seat mount, but it did come with a bracket that is fixed to the seat with DZUS. This bracket is fiixed to the top of the subframe and allows the seat to be located with the DZUS - it looks good too!!

I'm not sure I would like to drill hole's in my ali sub frame though. Bit difficult to explain away, if and when you ever wanted to sell.

Av or Avio fiber is a special plastic material produced by/for Ducati in their Ducati Performance catalogues for people who don't want to use their road fairings on the track.

It seems to be a far higher quality material than your 'normal' fiberglass trackday fairings.

That's about all I know so far...

..... I haven't drilled any holes, I'm using the 2 holes that are used to secure the seat latch to the subframe.

I have mounted the latch on the underside of the subframe cross member and used the same fixing screws but turned them upside-down - if that makes sense.

I then drilled 2 holes in the seat bracket that came with the seat and fixed the bracket over these screws - easy

As Rattler has said the seat unit doesn't have any mouldings to mount to your existing subframe, but there is a bracket which bolts directly to the subframe, where the locking mechanism is bolted, you then drill 2 holes through the seat unit and attach 2 Dzus fasteners through the seat unit to the bracket....

Gives you that WSB look :)

Unfortunately doesn't come with any talent !!!!

I'm with you now. You will have to post a pick Tim. I think I fancy that system on mine.:)
