Bmf 2007

Any news, thoughts on this? Been there for years and helped out at the DSC stand for the last 4.

With the experience of organising last year's event I think we should be agreeing strategy now and getting our plot picked.

Happy to help where I can but can't get too involved due to major commitments in June.

Webteam ... can we make this a sticky please?

everton 12-Jan-2007 18:16

No interest then?

I don't think we can wait until the AGM to discuss this!

Good post Dave, I have enjoyed the last few years at the BMF helping out on the Clubs stand but it looks like I will have to give it a miss this year as it clashes with the DesmoDue round at Mallory on the 20th May

BMF Show
East of England Showground
19th & 20th May 2007

Good point well made David. With your experience of having pulled the event together for us last year could you be coerced into putting a few words together to go into Pronto. ;)

Deadline for next issue is middle to late next week so plenty of time.

kwikbitch 14-Jan-2007 22:51

I don't mind helping out. Kids adored last year, even if it did pee it down constantly. It was a complete adventure. AND...I don't mind doing curry, it always seems to go down pretty well ;)
I reckon the only way is up, it'll be great this year if we get our finger out :)

everton 15-Jan-2007 08:07

Thanks Lisa for the PM and your post.

I'm afraid what will kill the BMF for the DSC this year is not lethargy by the membership but the fact that there is a DD round at Mallory on the Sunday which knocks out any attendance by the DD fraternity and any chance of having their bikes on the stand.

It would seem then that both the BMF and the Popham megameet will go the same way. The DSC is more interested in DD and the Cadwell track days in August.

Iconic944ss 15-Jan-2007 09:54

Post moved to DSC events and made sticky!

Just checked and I'm working nights on the 19th & 20th but, I've never been for years and its a great excuse to take a first nightshift off ;)

So I might be able to help out on the Sat - providing I can get the nightshift off from work which should be ok.

If I can help with anything from an organising point of view - please let me know.

Cheers - Frank

That's a shame.:(

I am sure that there would be enough DSC members bikes that could attend.
The DD series is just a part of what the DSC does offer. It has many more events and interests that cover a whole specrtum of Ducati ownership, which could be showcased at the BMF.

Is there any way this event could go ahead without the DD support??

Hmmmm....bit of a sweeping statement there David :)

I don't think that the BMF relies upon having a large number of DD'ers there, since DD is already more than adequately publicised as a club activity to would-be racers.

In fact I think that it would perhaps be better, this year, to focus upon what the club offers to the ordinary Joes like me and you. I also think that we should have a good hard think about the format we use. Last year, me and KeefyB took it upon ourselves to organise road bike displays and actually had too many - we thought we'd have the same size marquee as the previous year.

Psychlist and me have talked this over during MT meetings and you're right...time for a serious bit of early planning I think.

After last year, the BHCN crew were also talking about putting a bit of muscle into the BMF, 'cos it's on our doorstep. Let's keep talking about it because I for one love the craic of a weekend of bikes, more bikes, beer, beer, beer, barbecues, beer, bikes, banter and bollix

everton 15-Jan-2007 20:21

Sorry, that didn't come across right.

What I meant was that the Popham Mega-Meet has to go on the back burner again this year simply because most of those that would attend will come to the Cadwell Park Track (two) Day(er) which runs on the Mon/Tues following.

I believe the same will be true of the BMF in that a good proportion of those that would normally be there to help will be at Mallory on Sunday.

That probably also goes for spectators from the DSC.

Personally, sounds like a good weekend to me - BMF on Saturday, overnight stop and over to Mallory for the racing on Sunday.

However, in saying all that, coincidentally, the BMF forms and details turned up in the post today.

So what's it to be then? We have early option to get our plot and start in good time. We can start by making a provisional list of DSC helpers ....

Everton
Ramirez
Kwikbitch
Jools
KeefyB
F_E ( would Ducati_Dad be coming as well Andy?)

everton 15-Jan-2007 20:23

ps it's also very worth while doing simply from the -

final_edition 19-Jan-2007 22:13

Now thats got me thinking, how do I get to enjoy another of Lisa's curries and then get to Mallory.

May have to arrive at the BMF Friday, help setup stay the evening in the excellent company that is always a trade mark of the DSC, hang about for a fair chunk of Saturday and then trundle off to Mallory

Well thats one option

CK 29-Jan-2007 23:15

Tell you what Skids - maybe I'll pop my road bike in the van for the Mallory trip, and then spin over to Lisa's curry night on the Sat:)
You wanna come pillion?:D

On 2nd thoughts - can anyone guarantee 'non' BMF weather??

final_edition 29-Jan-2007 23:18

Is this happening:confused: As I need to confirm my leave for this date. If it isn't I could take my leave at another time.
I need to know by next week, any longer and I will miss the deadline for booking.
sorry to be a pain:)

Not being a pain at all, we are putting in Pronto a call to all members interested in getting involved to get in touch with us so we can check if enough volunteers exist to make it happen.

Appreciate your need to book time off but it really does rely on volunteers to step forward (as you've clearly done here).

So anybody else from the forum ? Maybe a copy and paste will make it easier to keep track of ?

The MT will book the stand and marquee so no problem with all of that if enough of you want to do the biz again this year.

Redruth 30-Jan-2007 15:13

Much as I enjoyed the 'Bl00dy Muddy Field' show last year, I'm probably going to Mallory to watch the DD racing.

BDG 30-Jan-2007 15:24

I'd love to be in 2 places at once as the BMF is a good laff, but will have just back from Andorra on the bike, so if i go away so soon i may be in deeper poo than i normally am:lol:

Monty 30-Jan-2007 18:21

Since I will be an 'ordinary member' by then I will stick my hand up for doing something.

John

I am not a member as yet, but I have done a Stand with the Suzuki owners at the BMF, since I have sold the old GSX1100 for the ST2 so I am up for helping and siging up to join the DSC.

Sounds good, just need a few more and we are up and running.

Now you've sold the GSX can you take the picture of it off your Avatar and put the ST on instead :-)

Loz ST2 05-Feb-2007 18:02

So I see you know the old GSX then trusty old tub, just putting the finishing touches to the ST, with help from the DSC with parts and tech help from this site.:D

It's about time you got one of them thar DSC roundels in your profile innit ? Go on, you've just said you've had help with parts ? and tech help from this site, tis a mere £25 to join and £20 annual renewal after that (We haven't increased it since we started up all those years ago).

Sorry, still got my salesmans head on after 4 days at Excel :-)

Loz ST2 06-Feb-2007 13:22

You are right, will make the effort and fill the old form in and splash the dosh. So the BMF might be on, how many more people do we need before it's a definite, have had some great times in the past at the show.

It does need a bit of effort to be honest, I've asked David Lane who did the job of sorting it last year to put a few words together for the next Pronto so that all the members get to know we are looking for volunteers. Not everybody uses the forums so it may flush out a few more volunteers.

Usually get a good response from the BHCN guys so hopefully they will be stepping forward soon.

Looks like we may be having a trade stand so I'll have limited time to do much apart from sorting the site and marquee booking.

Just to let you know Dave, we've booked a pitch. 20x40 marquee, and 20 metre frontage to the marquee (hope we get it all). We havel also paid for electrics.

I met RD last night who is willing and able to help organise this year, what I need to do is catch up with you Dave over the next few days, go over what we did last year, and your thoughts for this year.

Can you PM me a good time to have a chat?

Mark :)

What do you need to sort the curry out? Did you bring equiment, or was it a joint effort by everyone?

Oh, and has anyone got a fridge laying about we can use? For beer of course!

Mark.

Loz ST2 01-Mar-2007 13:35

I am have paid my membership to, with a little coaching for Paul. So if there is room I would like to help. :)

final_edition 01-Mar-2007 19:26

I now have the time off and can help, if that's any help:D

Mark 02-Mar-2007 12:08

Thanks for those who have said they are interested in helping out. I'm thinking about organising a special t shirt for the weekend, which will need pre-ordering. I'm not sure on costs yet, I just want to gauage interest. These will be very similar to those which Everton had made for the trackday. Thoughts?

:)

Loz ST2 02-Mar-2007 20:12

Sounds like a good idea, I would be interested :)
