Minimoto event December 7th

Oh my word, lots and lots of interest. :o Possibly too much if that's possible...... :rodent:

The list to date looks something like this:

Ususal Suspects
Me
Weeksy
Timetrial
Whele
Flanker + 5
Damo748 + 2
Karl
Fil2
R1-Ian
Jewell
Domski
Bluebell
Alan AJR
Michael
Rattler
Stoddy
MurrayMint + 1
DJTera
Everton + 1
Muttsnuts

I make that 29! :o

Plus there are a couple of imponderables:

Hog
Lily
CK + 1

What I need to know is, if your name is on the firm list, please confirm to me that you will be making it or not. No probs in dropping out as we have a huge crowd.

Otherwise, I've booked the event up. I'll sort it so that we can all pay on the day, rather than faff round with collecting money beforehand.

Any Q's, just drop me a line.
Cheers,

Simon

Edited to add Muttsnuts in (only on the proviso that I can borrow the MV for a bit) ;)

Also, how many people can do this max? I've got a few mates who would be interested but I don't want to remind them about it if we are getting full of Ducati peeps.

Is this booked up yet........

Scaramanga 19-Nov-2003 16:12

All booked and ready to roll

Just to let you all know that we are booked and ready to go.

Caught up with the chaps over at the NEC (and had a sneaky blast) so all is confirmed.

Also I forgot to mention that the trophies are magnificent, certainly the best thing I've ever won.

I'll post up some directions and times etc... shortly so you know where to go.

Cheers,

Simon

That your way of telling us you won, Scaramanga ? ;)

Scaramanga 19-Nov-2003 17:02

hehe,

did I forget to mention that I've got my own production spec 8.5bhp minimoto.... ;)

OK, I did win the last one, but thats more due to the fact that most of the people hadn't ever been on a big bike let alone a minimoto.

I think that there will be some pretty stiff competition on the 7th. Like the man says, bring it on......... the tyrewall that is
:frog:

Cheers,

Simon

fil2 20-Nov-2003 08:36

mmmm..bring it on......oh yeah.....look out for a maniac who actually fits the bike properly.........Hi IAn ..LOL

Webteam 20-Nov-2003 20:06

Excuse me but something that has to be said, due to the issue of liability and insurance:

Please note that this is not an event organised by the Ducati Sporting Club. It has no association with The Club.

Whatever has been organised has been done so by a private group of people who may have chosen to use this forum to discuss a private meeting.

The Management Team of the Ducati Sporting Club has not at any time been involved in arranging this.

Mark 21-Nov-2003 08:29

Who invited the lawyer?:lol::lol:

Ian 21-Nov-2003 09:41

if only the world did n't have lawers then this type of crap would n't be needed. You know it's not the real mentality of this club, - it is a shame that we now live in a world whee ones backside has to be covered. The club has no issue or problem with people getting together like this, - this club is about people geting together and doing stuff having fun rather than just carrying a badge and meeting in a pubonce a year!
Please don't take the Webteam post as a negative or problem with what is going on. Scaramanga was sent a U2U as soon as it went up by way of explanation.

Paul James 21-Nov-2003 11:08

Would have joined you lot but there is no way I'm gonna be able to scrunch my lardy carcass up enough to get on one of those things.

I feel sorry for the poor little minimotos when some of you other pie eaters sit on them !!.

There isn't a problem with organising this sort of event via the boards but as Ian said we need to remind people that there is no comeback on the club if anything goes wrong. Pity life is like that these days but we are slowly adopting the litigation attitude of the USA. People should be responsible for their own actions and accept the repercussions but it's a mad scramble to find someone else to blame these days.

Hope you all have a great day out, why not do a write up for Pronto with results and a few choice snippets from the days entertainment.

Scaramanga 21-Nov-2003 11:42

cheers Paul, I've already approached the Pronto team to let them know to expect all the grisly carnage from the day........

If it goes anything like the last one then we will all be :frog:

Shame you couldn't make it.
Cheers,

Simon

Rattler 21-Nov-2003 12:10

Sorry......

......can't make this.

Tim:frog:

BlueBell 27-Nov-2003 13:08

I'm sorry i wont be taking part in this now.

Scaramanga 27-Nov-2003 20:06

MINIMOTO PLAN

OK, here are the details:

Timing:
We are due to start at 10am, but if you could plan on being there for 9:30 that will give us a bit more time to sign in and get kitted up.

Address:
Hanger 88,
A site
Hullavington
Wilts
SN14 6BT
01666 838234www.minimoto.co.uk

Directions:
Minimoto Racing is situated 1 mile from Junction 17 of the M4. From Junction 17 you need to head North on the A429 towards Malmesbury. You will go past a Murco petrol station on your left and after that, the main airfield. Just after the airfield is a left turn signposted towards Hullavington. Take this left turn and on the corner you will see a big grass covered hanger. This is the race track. To get to it, you need to turn right after the derelict house (3rd gate) and follow the road back round to the furthest hanger.

Clothing:
You are advised to wear some old (hard wearing) jeans, the looser the better, a long sleeved top and some old trainers, they will get scuffed ;-)
The company provides overalls, helmets, gloves and kneesliders.
Footwear:

Format:
The general scheme of things is that we will turn up, sign in, get kit on and all go out for a quick practice session. This will let you get a feel for things, before we go through heats, qualifiers and then semi finals and finals. In total this should take about 3 hours or thereabouts.

How to:
Riding the things is actually quite easy once you have levered yourself onto the thing. There are three main controls, twistgrip throttle, (right hand), front brake (right hand) and back brake (left hand). The most difficult thing is to get your foot position right. There are some pegs for your feet to go on. The weird thing is that you need to try and put the soles of your feet against the sides of the bike. Bit like putting the soles of your feet together, but with a bike inbetween. Feels a bit odd at first, but it's MUCH better for ground clearance.

Cost is 40 quid for the day.

Any questions on any of this, please give Simon a call: 07747 765453

Also as my wife is currently going in and out of labour, I won't be on the board too much so any q's drop me a line.

Also if anyone else drops out, please let me know ASAP so I can pull in others to ensure that we have a reasonable number there.

Cheers,

Simon

Mark 01-Dec-2003 10:08

Just to update, me plus 2 now.

Weeksy..............no

stumpy1 01-Dec-2003 12:12

I watch this at the NEC,at said to myself Oh **** what have i've done.......

:o:o:o

there can only be one................

and this will not be me.......but i will make sure it wont be weeksy or hell.....:frog:

Mark 01-Dec-2003 15:31

I think you'll find their the same people as well, without looking at the web site mentioned above, which was displayed at the nec. Must admit, i thought the same!

Seemed a good idea once :rodent:

stumpy1 01-Dec-2003 16:42

ARE ANY OF YOU TAKING YOU OWN CRASH HELMET??????

Scaramanga 01-Dec-2003 21:10

Right I need a final tally of numbers please

My list looks a bit like this:

Me + 1
Weeksy
Timetrial
Whele
Flanker + 2
Fil2
R1-Ian
Muttsnuts
Alan AJR
Murray Mint + 1
DJ Tera
Everton
Matthew Lane
Michael (and Lizzie on camera duties)
Stoddy
Jewell
Domski

Numbers are beginning to thin out a little (as the pansies lose their bottle!) and I'd appreciate confirmation of Stoddy, Jewell and Domski if poss. Also can't remember if Henners managed to fumble a decent excuse for this?

If anyone would like to add in or bring some mates, that would be great. I'm just a little concerned that we can't dip below 15 bods on the day.

Cheers,

Simon
p.s. if someone else could chase the last few up, I' appreciate it as I'm running backwards and forwards to my local hospital labour ward at the moment........

everton 01-Dec-2003 22:31

Simon,

Matthew (Lane, my son) & I are definitely up for it. We'll bring our own helmets & gloves etc.

bradders 01-Dec-2003 23:18

love to go, evenI could get my knee down then weeksy!! But afraid much too lardy for the little buggers and don't think I'd get more than 10mph out of one!!!

Now I know time etc I might drop in and watch a days 'racing' and meet some of you chaps.
Regards
Pal
