Power Commander in a 998 Hello All, Does anyone have any experience of using a PC in a 998? Ive got a 998bp if that makes any difference? Its currently got the DP ECU that came with the termis, but I might be tempted to switch to a PC if its going to improve the fuelling cheers, Ben |
I have one fitted to my 998BP - solved all the fuelling problems I had, and gave me between 3 and 7 HP extra in the midrange! Problem with the DP ECU is its not remappable, so you're stuck with a generic map, as well as the fact it costs shitloads compared to the 160 quid the PC3 cost me! :D |
What pipes you got on your 998bp I recently fitted 45mm Termis & DP ICU to my 998bp & the bike is improved 100% I belive they run better if the Co2 is set to around 4/6 % [Edited on 5-2-2004 by Totto] |
Im running 54mm pipes up to the headers and the CO2 is set at 4.5%. £160 for a PC3 - bargain. |
Eek 54mm , i only went for 45's partly cause i got a good deal ( Yella) & partly after reading the Moto one website http://www.moto-one.com.au/performan...crossover.html |
Interesting article. Im toying with the idea of taking it to Sigma Performance for the full monty and perhaps even blueprinting, but it all comes down to how much its going to cost at the end of the day. Also got to get rid of the desire to get it sprayed black! |
Might be more cost effective to buy the S/R I for one would rather upgrade the bike than spend mega money on the engine ! If i can get the money i will go for the 998S or a 996R next |
Totto I have a 998s fitted with Termi`s and 50 tubes + DP enginge management unit. Runs very strong with the very occasional spit back which i can live with. I must agree that the s or R would be a far better bet than the Biposto! |
Rcgbob44 , got any Dyno charts ??? Or any one for that matter post em up so we can all see them Mine is bellow , before Cans/Icu fitted ![]() [Edited on 5-2-2004 by Totto] |
I'll try to scan mine in when I get home - one graph was done on a Fuchs dyno (engine had only done 2000 miles) before the PC3 was fitted, the other graph shows before and after the custom map was created :) |
There's a Power Commander for a 998 HERE on ebay |
Thanks Jools, Ive been watching it :) |
I have a 998s with 50mm Akrapovics and PC3 - 136 RHP and a fat midrange. have posted the dyno before but will again if interested |
Here's the first dyno run done at 1100 miles, 45mm Sil Motors and stock ECU - no PC3 fitted (sorry for scrappy chart - ******* cat knocked a drink over  ) |
Heres the dyno runs after the PC3 was fitted - red is the run with the generic PC3 map, blue is the custom map :) |
Did all that power get you so excited, you stained the paper?:D |
Ahem. No comment  |
Excuse my ignorance. But doesn't the first graph show 126 bhp and the 2nd 123-5ish bhp. Probabley more to it than meets the eye, Ok so I thick:( |
The green power curve shows power output at the rear wheel, the other two are just estimates for gearbox and crank outputs :) |
Still don't help me DJ, you see I'm colour blind.:( |
OK, the lowest curve of the three is the rear wheel figure, the middle is gearbox figure, and the higher curve is crankshaft output :) |
thx DJ;) |
Thanks for the info DJTera, I'll have a look into getting it sorted, cheers, Ben |
try www.motrac-racing.com.was charging about £350 supplied and setup for a pc for dukes.he has setup a couple of friends bikes over the last couple of years and last time i was there he had a 748rs to map. |
Looks a good price - but the Wirral is a bit far from me (Hertfordshire) - what Id save on the cost of install I'd spend on petrol :D Thanks for the tip though - not heard of them before, always interesting to have a look at someone else. cheers, Ben |
