servicing costs for Multistrada ? How do the servicing costs work out for the MS ?. I'm interested to hear how that side of things compares with the 996-engined bikes like my ST4S, which I love but find the service costs (£625 for the last major at Alvins in Edinburgh) a real pain, |
Too early to say yet as the bikes have only just been available for 12 months. My first service was 43quid,oil and filter.etc only. The second service is due in a couple of months time so I will be booking it in soon. BTW,Marco has just had the major 12K service on a ST4 and it cost just under 500quid. [Edited on 13-4-2004 by KeefyB] |
Duke, My MS booked in for service at Alvins week on Friday. It'll be it's second sevice but the first Annual sevice if you follow my drift. I'll lt you know the damage next week. Hey KB, first service for my MS cost only £33.68 which included parts, labour and VAT! A bargain compared to your costs! |
my first service cost me approx £1300. Maybe I should have the DP catalogue in the draw. |
Ducati UK have changed their first service structure. Now you have to pay for the first service within the cost of the bike, - they quote £250 for it!!!! I said no way, is it worth that and negotiated. |
Well, having got exactly the same engine in my M1000sie as your multistrada's, I was a bit suprised at the cost of its recent 1st service - £157! quite a bit more than the M750ie 2 years ago. C |
Just arrived back with multistrada after 1st service a whopping £158.87 worse off! 3 hours labour!? I wish I would have negotatiated price of 1st service when I bought the bike. What happened to the days when you just payed for oil and filter? |
When my dealer was trying to persuade me to buy my 1st Ducati he threw in the labour portion of the first service as an incentive when I started to waver |
Well Duke, it's taken me this long to get over the shock! First Annual service of Multistrada with a little under 3,000miles on clock, that'll be £389.74 including VAT thank you very much!:o 6(!)hrs labour t £40/hr + parts at £91.69. Admittedly they did fit comfort seat at same time but since I assume tank/seat unit would have been off anyway for servicing this can't have accounted for much in terms of labour. OUCH! PS Rocker, seems your Avatar has put on a little too much bulk! PPS I'm 6'2" but with comfort seat fitted even I can just get my feet flat on ground and no more! |
I know I am having problems with my Avatar at the moment so I have removed it completely until I can get it sorted |
Jings, crivvens and help ma boab !. If that's what the intermediate service costs then next year's major must be looking at £500 or above..!? Then again, it could be the Alvins factor. You should ask Martin at Ducati Glasgow what they think it should be. One racket which Alvins used to get up to was to change the belts at an intermediate service even though the factory says they only need replaced every 12,000 kms. It adds £60 or so un-necessarily to your bill and I phoned DUK about it when it happened to me before. Hmm. Maybe I'll not get a Multistrada after all. I know there's more to biking than £s and p but I am a Scottish accountant...... |
Before I make up my mind, though, I wouldn't mind a listen to a Termignoni-kitted MS, if you care to meet up for a blast one sunny day... |
Yeah, delighted to meet up for a run one day! Just waiting on some decent weather which doesn't look like being this weekend. Let me know where you are (Balerno might be a clue). I'm just at Barnton not a million miles away down by-pass. I've been hoping to get a run out with Scotch and rest of "Scottish" contingent some time. Are you in that Yahoo group? Cheers |
I am indeed based in Balerno. You might have seen our Scottish branch website (www.scottishducati.co.uk ). Any planned runs are put up there, and the aim is to try and get a monthly run going. Between us and Ducati Glasgow there should be plenty going on. Incidentally, I was in there today and Martin, the manager, was a bit surprised at your service cost - he said he expects £250-ish for an intermediate and under £400 for a major. Next run should be last Sunday of the month, but feel free to email me if you are up for a blast on a nice day... |
Cheers Duke, I do hope to make next DSC (Scottish Branch Run) weather permitting. As the weather improves I regularly go out on weekday evenings for a couple of hours, in between golf, ferrying kids around etc, etc., but I'll certainly give you a shout. Feel free to do likewise. Cheers :D |
Just to round off this thread I had a look at the very good website of OnyerBike. Interestingly, it gave a table of servicing costs for all the bikes it deals in. It was interesting to see that they charge the same for a Multistrada as for ST4, 748, 996,etc - I thought the unfaired, aircooled and 2-valve engines were supposed to be cheaper to service (www.onyerbike.net/service.htm) |
My MTS had its first annual service today, with 4600+ miles on the clock.I bought some chain lube and a couple of bits and bobs. The bill came to 211 pounds. Not bad at all. I have to say the boys at Italia Moto did a great job.The engine feels like its grown an extra cylinder and the brakes are sharper and more powerfull than before. Well happy!:D |
