HERE COMES Cadwell.....!!!!! Was looking forward to Cadwell, got some nice sticky tyres fitted yesterday, a quick ride revealed they're stickier than something very sticky indeed! Then this morning I had a cunning plan.... in fact it's a plan so cunning that it could have come from the University of Cunning Plans itself! "I know, " I thought, "let's not put the stand down properly." Tuns out not to be such a good idea. Broke a piece out the seat unit but could see no other damage at all! Clutch lever straight, gear lever and peg unmarked, indicator intact! Then...... drip-drip-drip comes oil from the crack in the crank case cover :( And I'm off to switzerland first thing in the morning, not back until 5th May! So I guess, unless it turns out to be a horrible dream, there's a spare novice slot for Cadwell. Or maybe Monty will let me just run round the track?? I'm off to cry in the darkest corner I can find :( Have fun riding without me. [Edited on 25-4-2004 by NBs996] [Edited on 2-5-2004 by NBs996] |
Tough break mate..... ....I'm sure you can sort it out though - necessity is the mother of invention!!! Time to get creative!! Tim:frog: |
Sorry to hear about that Neil - hope you were OK.... What a bad timing....is there anyone who could look after the repair for you while you are away??? Failing all that......forget about the whole darn thing and enjoy your hols. |
Have a good holiday and forget about it...It's only a bike:) AND you're OK!:D |
Thanks. Just DROVE round psychlists place to meet everyone, and the word seems to be I shouldn't have too much trouble getting it sorted in time.... going to give moto rapido a ring tomorrow and see what they can do so hold that thought about cancelling cadwell!! ....and oh how I wish switzerland was a holiday! Work I'm affraid! |
Sorry to hear about your woes Nick! I'm sure Steve at Moto Rapido can sort something out for you, if he cant get hold of a replacement crankcase cover plate himself try Nelly or JHP. Last resort is a ring around the dealers but it's not the sort of part they'd hold as stock. Good luck matey. :( |
Steve, you're too kind! I'll be trying to sort something out with Rapido tomorrow, failing that I'll give alan a ring. On a slightly different angle, for anyone who questions the "spirit of the club" lateley......... can't imagine what that's all about to be honest! I put the post up just to unload my woes, and my only problem is that a broken bike just threatens to stop me having fun - not exactly the end of the world is it, but I've since had two members offer me their bike for cadwell (one's not even run in yet, and the other's only a few months old so have declined their very kind offers), two others offering to come down and help me twist some spanners and weeksy (who I've never even met!) offering what you read above! Yeah, there's a pretty bad spirit about the DSC isn't there!! There's a round on me at keddington house on friday night peeps :) |
Club spirit? There's plenty about......... http://ducatisportingclub.com/contro...d.php?tid=8443 [Edited on 25-4-2004 by psychlist] |
I'm guessing it's the left cover you've cracked? If so, I have a few new ones. There are different types, but only two I think depending upon the generator. If so, I have both. |
And the hits just keep on cumin\' !!! Thanks loads guys! Neil, I'll ring you when I get to work about midday tomorrow, and if you can find a slot for me b4 cadwell you'll be my bestest friend ever! Or maybe you might bring the bits to cadwell and I'll get me spanners out thursday evening if it's a job I might be able to do myself (???) - we'll talk... Weeksy, bike's at my mates house in portsmouth now. Can you u2u me your number mate, i'd like a word with you too.... |
Update.... Through the unbelievable goodwill of some members here, it looks like I'll be taking my bike to cadwell :D Weeksy, your offer of using your bike and/or going out your way to transport mine for fixing...... thankyou. Nelly, your help (ongoing) in getting a part to me even though I can't bring the bike to you for the work...... thankyou. Paul, (my buddy who's not a member but has a trailer!) for the transportation logistics...... thankyou. But most of all - PeteB - you've volunteered to do the spannering in my absence...... unbelievable! Thanks! And to others like ck, psychlist, triplenine for their offers of help too. As they say in the oscars - Couldn't have done it without you!! |
IT'S DONE!!!!! e-mail from PeteB this morning telling me he's mended me bike :D Pete, you're my hero!! I'll call you this aft from le hotel. [Edited on 2-5-2004 by NBs996] |
