Me too. Thought it was a prob with my equipment (!) Spent the last few hours defragmenting the hard drive! Ho hum.

The speed, or lack of, connection faults and general inability to log on to the u2u section is getting to be a right royal pain in the a***!

I thought a thread recently was started to say the Webteam were going to look at new software etc to sort this out.

Would have posted a link to the thread if the flaming search section worked!!!

I know its not the webteams fault so who do we aim our bullets at?

The site has grown so much in the last year or so that I thought this 'front' for the club to show itself off to new members would have been given as much attention as possible to sort.

You only have to look at the new members who have joined recently like TP-996 who has experienced first hand what the club spirit is like only having found the site recently, been offered loadsa help and is now a paid up member.

C'mon peeps, give us something to do when its raining and get the site sorted.

Desmondo 28-Apr-2004 14:05

With hosting servers you get what you pay for. When the club was smaller there was no point in paying big bucks for hosting. Now the club and the forums have grown considerably, and also considering the money available (as shown at the AGM) we really shouldn't be scrimping on the hosting costs now.

Old Yella 28-Apr-2004 14:15

My point exackly.

Glad someone else agrees.

WeeJohnyB 28-Apr-2004 14:38

There is another post about this.

It was agreed by the members at the AGM to upgrade to a better ISP, but I'm sure it's not that simple and that the Webteam are doing everything they can to sort it. Of course it's inconvenient, but this is a site run my volunteers with full time jobs and I think they do a superb job of it in their own personal time, for free, for the benefit of the rest of us. We should cut them some slack here. We all know how important this site is to our existing and future members, but I'm sure it's the Management Team's number one priority and they're doing all they can to fix it as quickly as possible.

Desmondo 28-Apr-2004 14:53

Don't start talking tough Dibs just because you won't be at the trackday where I'd...eerrrr...uummmm...stuff my face full of doughnuts and not give you one
And I'd let your tyres down.

Anyhow, wasn't having a go at the webteam and I know everything in this club is done on a voluntarily basis. Just saying that the site does need new hosting now. I wonder how many people have visited the site on a whim only to find a blank page and don't bother checking back at a later date?

skidlids 29-Apr-2004 01:25

Yep i'm really getting fed up with it so I have put my 54mm exhaust system up for sale on www.Findit.co.uk site and on Visordown as I couldn't get into the Market place

If you read my post you will see I am not blaming the webteam, I think they are great and do so much unselfishly for the club that they do deserve a wage.

It is very disheartening to be unable to get on to the site and browse easily and if there is a cure in hand then all well and good but if we, the club members, are paying an ISP to provide a service then they should be providing it or at least be seen to be trying to improve it.
If you bought a bike that ran like a tractor and not as it was supposed to you would take it back to the Harley dealer would you not?

I sincerely hope the new ISP that the webteam decide to use performs better than this one has.
Only last year I believe this was supposed to be the all singing all dancing ISP to be our saviour.
Does not seem as though they delivered the goods as advertised.

Cant blame the team as they have their own best interests at heart as well as ours, they are high number posters as well.;)
