New bike Well i finaly decided to do it, so i have! I collected my 2004 R1 tuesday and it's fantastic! Had full titanium akrapovic fitted, gilles rearsets and an ohlins damper. Can i still stay in your club or do i have to go now :lol: |
As long as you sit in the corner and keep quiet!!! ;);););););););););) Go on then - stick up a pic of the new machine. Tim:frog: |
Lucky, lucky, lucky....I'm green with envy, new new R1 is beautiful mate, have fun. WeeJohnyB |
Have been quite tempted by the black/silver myself - very, very spaceage and very, very trick. All that black anodising really does look sexy! |
Orf with his head! |
Hang him...........then draw & quarter him. :frog::frog::frog::frog: :lol: |

You need help :lol: New R1 does look great, but another Ducati rip off with those cans....... |

Thanks :( :frog: I just appreciate the design of the bike for what it is. Every so often you get something that comes along and you think "hey, that's nice", even though you might not ever want to own one... I've gone off the Gixxer Thou now that they've redesigned the headlights to be more Eye-Abusa like. The old (original) ones were much nicer and more racer looking. There are some nice aspects of the new Blade, but it just seems to be watered down *again* from the original Urban-Tiger paint-worked hooligan machine of old. And the ZX10 is that god-awful green :yawn: |
mark853/Mark R1 Don't wanna p on your bonfire but I have seen few posts about a gearbox problem with 2004 R1s on the MCN site. Don't know if there is anything in it. The problem is allegedly with 2nd gear and causes the box to seize!! Ray |
If i had to defect it would be to the green ZX10...very sweet ...and thankfully K resisted the temptation to produce a dogs dinner of the underseat pipes unlike the rest of them! |
Quote 'dogs dinner of underseat' - you mean like the 749/999 then which is plug ugly and only bettered if replaced by the carbon Termi. Have you seen an R1 with an Akropovic can - beautiful rear end, a bit like the CBR600RR with the same pipe WeeJohnyB |
Defection.....not likely,,,,but then again the new blade in red looks awsome in the flesh. |
Hi folks thanks for the posative feedback. antony i know what you mean. Ray it's the clutches that had the problem. they assembel them dry at Yamaha (no oil in the sump) so they grease the plates to stop them sticking but someone at the factory got over zealous. The call back is to clean out any excess grease mine has been done so no ray you wont **** on my chips:frog: Mark |
lets see a pic then...agree wioth others that it IS a fabulous looking machine |
...SIGH!... |
Mmmmm had a go on the new CBR1000 on sunday - felt a bit soft but I gues thats down to how the dealer set it up! It was definitely fast - like 140+ in third gear!! :o Gonna test the ZX10 and the R1 this weekend if the weathers nice |
Hmm. Exotic machinery indeed! Not my cup of tea but you have to admire the way they're designed. Much more distinctive and aggressive appearance than a few years ago when most jap bikes looked the same. Enjoy it Mark, there'll be a few more around this summer. |
I Have seen it !! WOW it sure is sexy:D Thinkin of putting R1 engine in my duke :lol: as of today my crank is now bolloxoed!!:mad: Oh well its all in the hands of the MASTER and when it's done :lol::lol::lol: I'll be out for a ride with Ya !!!..............all the best mark from POM ****ED OF MAV:frog: |
Great choice Mark. Even Jezza McWilliams rates it the best '04 1000cc roadbike. Killer looks too. 'Fraid I've ventured from the path of righteousness too having just bought a 600rr. Anyway, here's hoping we both have hours of fun before our bikes start furring up eh!:lol: |
