Desmosedici RR

The announcement on Ducati.com is for a desmosedici RR available within 2 years.

tee hee, 999R owners will get first choice on availability!!!!!

Henners 22-May-2004 21:40

Nah ... you won't be able to afford one :oink:

Jools 22-May-2004 21:41

Another conspiracy that favours the rich...

Come the revolution mate :rodent:

Dibble 22-May-2004 21:41

pointless announcement ....

what they really mean is "if enough gullible fashion victims order one so they have the latest & greatest, they'll build it ..."

what rubbish, we are Ducati owners, not Yamakawasukionda riders ...

stinks of customer exploitation ...

bog off Ducati .. thats all I have left to say ....

Henners 22-May-2004 21:43

... quiet month mate ?

Jools 22-May-2004 21:43

Thank goodness the new board has a 'smug' smiley :smug::smug::smug:

Potential owners will probably need an inexhaustable supply, better stock up webteam

TP 22-May-2004 21:44

Oh dear, that throws the cat amongst the pigeons ...

Should I keep the 996 and buy the Paul Smart as planned, buy a Multistrada to sit alongside the 996 ... part-ex the 996 for an 'R' .... just keep the 996 unti lthe release of the Desmosedici RR??

Hrmmm .... (the wife is looking over my shoulder with interest)

TP

TP 22-May-2004 21:46

Dibble - that came from the heart a bit!!

Realistically speaking £35k is a but much.

Rattler 22-May-2004 22:32

Thank god they\'re cheap then....

.....I'll take two!!!

Tim:frog:

andyb 22-May-2004 22:37

Euros, 50000 euros... thats only the bonus on 500,000 speeders......

Does this mean it will qualify for the WSB, if its still around then?:smug:

....and if they're flogging them in the Corse shop tim, you could probably blag a third one free!

Rattler 22-May-2004 22:43

yep, I could flog the extra one on ebay - but everyone would think its a scam!!!

kwikbitch 22-May-2004 23:39

Look you lot!!!!
SHUT UP!

Some people can only dream...:(:(:(

antonye 22-May-2004 23:45

Damn ... Damn ... Damn ...

Didn't win the lottery tonight.

How many weeks left until orders are taken? I might have to play more tickets.... :D

Nigel C 22-May-2004 23:55

Hmm £35k limited production thats sounds a bit elitist to me :P

Ian 23-May-2004 00:27

it is not elitest, - it is way for Ducati to make sure they contine to win at WSBK.

Now if my mrs would just get the lotery sorted out, instead of having the numbers she used the week before come up a week later, - it was only a £800k win so at least it was n't that big a win eh? eh? eh? :(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Jewell 23-May-2004 21:06

35k for a bike?whats the farking point?

DJ Tera 23-May-2004 21:22

The same point as that of supercars - there is none :)

Not much point in a McLaren F1 roadcar, or a 360, etc etc.

EG a well sorted Skyline will absolutely dump on a standard 360 costing 30-40K more

If you can get ridiculously overpriced cars why shouldn't us bike riders have the same opportunities?

It will be a bloody awesome bike, it will probably better than a factory racer costing 50K+ currently....

Forget selling grandma - the whole family are going on Ebay tomorrow

skidlids 23-May-2004 22:16

Someone refreash my memory how much were Honda NR750s and how many did they sell, similar type of thing very pricey and very exclusive.

Yeah but a Nippo car make could never get away with charging 60+ large for a car, same with 35K for a bike

chillo 24-May-2004 02:06

back on track, i reckon i might get a decent trade in!:eureka::D:frog:

They were £37k new, maybe more than that now :-)
I wonder too how many were sold. Three, maybe? ;)

Mark 24-May-2004 09:30

BIG ANNONCEMENT ON HERE, HYPE AT WDW.

The start the ball rolling, awards etc for various reasons. Roll out the racers, wow what a greeting Chilli got and the GP boyz....

Then the big announcement........... place goes dark, fitting sound track from space odyssey plays, smoke pours from the stage, crowd start cheering, music gets louder, more smoke, then something appears to rise from the stage, crowd go even more mad, the smoke lightens, you can begin to see what has been the hype from ducati for 2+ weeks.........

A FRIGGIN ENGINE!! NO BIKE!! :flame::flame::flame::flame:

I got the daggers from the other half, cos we waited on for 2 hours to see an engine :flame: , Cost me a large dinner in Rimini!

Was the major anti climax of 2004 so far. :flame:

As Dibble said, got to agree.

Nice weather mind

dave w 24-May-2004 11:01

With allowance for inflation that would easily be £50K by todays standards, makes the proposed new Ducati look cheap in comparison.
Don't suppose there is any chance that V4 engine would fit in my 916 chassis.

Ray 24-May-2004 13:40

Rtlr,

You won't get the two you want i'm afraid old chap.
I have just despatched a flunky to the factory to buy every one they make, gonna have a few mates round for our own one make race series!!

Another flunky is on his way to see the FIM to buy the rights to the WSB title. Whoever wins our little for fun only series can then call themselves WSB champion!!

I suppose I could send all the bikes round to your place when we have finished with them, at your convenience of course!!

Must go the Times has just been ironed ready for me to read!!

Ray.

I think I have had a little too much sun this weekend!! time for a lie down!!

Steve M 24-May-2004 14:25

Don't worry boys, there'll be a proper production version along soon enough (maybe).

Mark 24-May-2004 17:12

Dave,

I would have, had it been worth it. I took nearly 100 odd pictures over the weekend, take a while to crop, re-size then post. :)

I'll ring you either tonight or tomorrow, only had 3 hours kip.

Robo 27-May-2004 09:50

OK who is it,

I was collecting my bike from Cobb & Jagger yesterday after the second service and Glen advised that he has already taken a £ 3,500 deposit on a V4 balance payable in 2006!

Rob

Jools 27-May-2004 10:38

:smug::smug::smug::smug::smug::smug::smug::smug::s mug:

...No, it's not me! I'm just testing the board to see if it still has a supply of 'smug' smileys left.

Desmosedici owners around here are gonna need them.

Rushjob 27-May-2004 13:41

Got this email this morning....

Dear readers
As you may have already heard, Ducati recently announced they're going to build a V4 bike for the road. It will be an adaptation of their current GP bikes (ridden by Bayliss and Capirossi), will be a limited edition, not available until 2006 and will cost around £35,000!

Basically, it will be legendary and highly, highly desirable. Ducati have never, ever made a four cylinder road bike so, in the world of motorcycling, it's pretty big news.

I'm due to interview a couple of the bikes' designers tomorrow and would be interested to know what YOU would like to know about this new bike. So, if there's anything you'd like me to fire at them, please email me back asap and I'll see if I can get some answers for you.

To see the finished article, don't forget to get the August issue of RiDE, on sale 15th July.
Hope to hear from you soon
Liisa

PS: This email has been sent to multiple recipients. If you wish to be removed from our mailing list or want your details updated, please let me know and I'll sort it out for you asap. Please remember to include the old address so I can find you!

PPS: Forgive me if you respond and don't hear further from me. I don't mean to be rude but sometimes there just isn't time to get back to everyone.

Ray 27-May-2004 18:10

Robo,

My shilling would be on a bike mad footballer in the area.

998r > 999r > Desmosedici RR

Ray

everton 27-May-2004 19:53

...........or how about a football mad biker?

:smug::smug::smug::smug::smug::smug::smug:

Robo 27-May-2004 20:05

I heard the Bike Mad Footballer wasn't allowed to ride bikes due to a clause in his contract?

Rob

Ray 29-May-2004 23:00

Robo,

U2U'd the story that did the rounds up here!

Ray

TP 29-May-2004 23:21

Well thats no good to the rest of us - come on, please share.

Ray 29-May-2004 23:30

To cut a long story short he took no notice when he was told by the manager at the time that if he rode the bike again he wouldn't play for the club again.

Liked riding bike more than playing premiership football?, the latter avenue of pleasure is now closed off to all the players now!!

Ray.
