Trcak day crashes Following a debate on the General board, lets try to get a straw poll of the number who have binned it on a trackday. So, if you have ever scraped, scratched, thrown down the road or filled yer pan with gravel, count it as a yes. Also - be interesting to gauge how many track days people do |
Never mate.........which at the moment is 100% of the vote  Oh dear.........shouldn't have said that.........thinks..'I'll have to be so careful next time' :o:o |
Twice - across a year venturing on to the track 6 times (including Cadwell just gone). The way I see it is that you're going for it on track days (well I am anyway). Say an average of 10 corners a lap, 10-15 laps per session, 6-8 sessions a day and that's a lot of corners to take in attack mode..something like 3500-4000 corners...so if you work it out, I get it right 99.95% of the time...it's a shame that the 0.05% always works out so damned expensive in cash and pride [Edited on 25-5-2004 by Jools] |
Once in about 16 TDs |
Never on a trackday and we will try to forget the ones during racing and practice as I try harder then. |
Ummm .. none in no track days ... |
CRASH! Top that if u can! Into the start / finish at The Rock. Also binned her at Coppice after straying off the dry line at Donington. Binned her after the back end came around on me at The Rock, and a massive high speed lowside at Lake Esses that was at Mallory. aws [Edited on 25-5-2004 by aws] [Edited on 25-5-2004 by aws] |

Low speed lowsde at the Melbourne loop last August. blame the Micheln pilot sports. Lost the front on DSC t/d So thats twice in eight months with 7 actual trackdays in between. |

In god knows how many trackdays I've done I've taken to the grass on numerous occasions. Lost the back end at Clearways and lost the front at Coppice resulting in a broken colarbone. Not bad so far :) |

Well you know what they say, if you don't come off you ain't trying!;) |
and soon to be repeated Weeksy ?! "Hold the front page" is an expression that springs to mind! ;) |
no crashes in a dozen or so trackdays. dont hold with the line that if you're not crashing you're not trying hard enough. i go a reasonable pace but like to think i know where my limits are (well short of the bikes). plenty of people slower than me have come off due to poor throttle control/bad technique. i am fully aware my first track get off could be just around the corner but i am happy to try and trim my lap times gradually and at my own pace. schools like the CSS do help massively IMHO. level 4 becons in 2 weeks. |
Only once (at Rocky) in over 60 days on the SPS in the last 3 years! Some famous golfer once said that the more he practices the luckier he becomes. That also applies to riding, and I have spent a lot of time at the CSS and really work on their techniques when I'm doing a track day. I was recently told that if you're not working on something during each track session you're just putting miles on your bike! Makes you think. The money that I've spent on the bike also helps to overcome any attempt at riding outside my personal "envelope" ;) |
Please dont put me off guys!:o Am going to do the Rockingham one, as my first effort. Think I had better put this thread onto 'ignore':o:o:o C.......legs now getting wobbly......... |

David..............you are correct. Gary Player, the famous South African golfer, noted for his all black atire was replying to a TV/Newspaper interviewer/reporter guy. This guy mentioned that Gary had had a lot of luck on the course that day during a round in a competitions. Gary replied by saying - 'Funny isn't it.............the more I practice the luckier I get' One of my favourite all time expressions.:cool: |
