Modern day bike tests.................. Tough luck Brenda (my missus). Took her test first thing this morning and failed on one point, which appears to be the most common, putting her foot down during a U turn. Apart from that 5 trivial minors. The examiner set she had excellent road sense and her control was generally spot on apart from the U turn which he sensed (correctly) was down to nerves. Even apologised for failing her but said he has to stick within the guidlines laid down by HMG & foot down in U turn is an automatic 'serious' & therefore fail!! What's that malarky all about then?? In my day we went round the block twice trying not to fall off in the emergency stop :lol::lol: Is it just to test slow control? I reckon I've done less than half a dozen U turns in 27 years of motorcycling. The last one I did was when Karl & I got lost looking for Ducati Central London and did a U turn in the Kings Road...........which granted is a very wide road :rolleye::rolleye: Fair play to her.............she's booked for the next/first available in Reading, Swindon, Oxford or Basingstoke.............whichever comes first. I can phone the TV Police now & say the roads are safe for a while longer (ouch.....she just whacked me :lol: ) So come on...........why's the U turn there in the test?? And who makes regular (necessary) U turns? Answers please.............there must be a reason..........just interested :puzzled::puzzled: [Edited on 27-5-2004 by everton] |
Because when you took you're test Mal, i mean Dave jack the ripper was still at large................ :lol: |
Oh, sorry to hear you failed Brenda, by all standards, you did really well. Did you take the test on the Prilla? |
Why is there a U turn test ? And why should you keep your feet up ? If I ever do a U turn (last one I think was 18mths ago), I definitely have feet down ready, it's just common sense isn't it ? Perhaps you should take your test on a trials bike (feet up, slow speed - no problem) before getting on a normal road bike! My test (so long ago now.....) consisted of 20 mins traversing a cross-road junction, an emergency stop whilst in 1st gear and arm signals (do they still do those now?). Guess I had it easy...... :D |
Why do you need U-turns? So you can turn round and do your favourite road again of course :P |
Know what you mean DJ........ Quote:
..............but I like going round in big loops (about 200 miles long) :D:D |
What's wrong with doing a doughnut?? :puzzled: |
DIBBLE................. :puzzled::puzzled::puzzled: |
:lol: Well done that man! Now lies the question, does Dibble do doughnuts?? Makes you wonder where vanilla doughnuts come from................ |
Mark..............ain't you got any work to do?? I'm off to console the missus :smug::smug: |
If it ain't enough being sworn at here, then you go and say work! |
unlucky,i never failed on that. i failed my first test because i didn't automatically move back into the left hand lane,even if i moved back into the right hand lane 100 metres down the lane.:mad::puzzled: |
