Caliper mounting brackets
 

The other day I spotted a pair of caliper brackets that allow 65mm calipers to be mounted to 40mm forks, on 'FleaBay'....

Of course now I want a pair I can't trace 'em....

Can anyone help,

....know where I can get them'

....know who makes them

I'd recommend going for 4-piston calipers if you are upgrading, well worth it.

I've also been pointed at www.ducatisaarland.de but s**t they're expensive. The site is all in German too, no translator, but I managed to wade my way through it.

I've actually got a set of polished P4's off a 999 ( the only 900 miles from new). Just getting all the lines made up now in "Norn' Iron"

would it not be worth considering moving to the later non adjustable forks that already have the 65mm caliper mounts.
We have converted several front wheels to take the larger spindle by fitting new bearings and spacers, so all that is then required are the forks and spindle.

I know what you mean Kev' but Ive got two sets of Marzocchi forks (both 40mm spacing), one set with twin caliper mounts and one single. The twin caliper forks and my rear shock have gone to Maxtons for servicing (and new springs in the forks) so it will be cheaper to fit brackets.

I may even be able to get some brackets made up.....:eureka: If I can get them done AT THE RIGHT PRICE then I may be able to get some extra sets done.....:cool:

Then other will benfit as well....

Cheap way would to be getting them made out of 10mm Dural plate with some alloy spacers and mount the plate on the outside of the caliper mounts instead of on the inside. Not as pretty but can be effective

I bought a pair of Showa non-adjustable forks with the 65mm caliper spacing for £130 - surely it's a better option to go with the *better* forks as well as better brakes?

There's a pair on ebay at Buy It Now for £199, a front left-hand for £43 BIN (bargain if you can find a right-hand one!), a pair with yokes in the States for £179 BIN, a BRAND NEW set in Holland for £400 BIN or a VERY nice set of new Ohlins to fit from the DP catalogue - a snip at £2,000 !! There are also quite a few pairs that were more expensive.

They are out there and imho you'd be better off with these than the old Marzocchi leaky seals forks!

Maxton are quite sure that the seals are not the problem with Marzocchi's.


They say it's the OEM bushes....

They machine new bushes (tighter tolerances) and then fit new seals and dust caps.

If the bushes are right the seals don't go...

....Well that's the theory:D

Jason Boswell had a pair Showa's that he decided not to sell, so I got the Marzocchi's....

Now JB's selling the Showa's....again doh!:rolleyes:

So buy the Showa and sell the Marzocchi? Keep them as spare? Save your money and spend it on trackdays to make yourself a lot faster than spending it on brakes would? ;)

My Bro can get 'em made in HE30 at £100/pair (maybe a bit less if there's reasonable interest) and they'll be top quality. He's currently developing some tasty high quality racing gear (fasteners, clip-ons, etc) to be marketed at the right money, so keep an eye on his site. Reckon I could peruade him on some discount for DD racers too.

I had already found the site and unfortunately they are "Out of Stock".....and look like being so for 'a long time' 'cos Brembo don't list them anymore :(

No problem....I'll get some made....I've got enough pics' with respective measurements 40mm - 65mm as references just a matter of scaling up.

I have some brand new 40mm to 65mm brembo conversion brackets (bought from Ducati Kaemna) that I do not require as I will be making some more myself in the next month. Im looking for £80 for the pair. They are CNCed from billet, bright gold anodised finish and need a good home!;)

I run my own bike internet shop but also do stress engineering work (for Rolls Royce mainly). I generally design the parts and can then get them made elsewhere, UK or abroad depending on cost.

As well as the caliper brackets, Im also working on other projects clip-ons, bolts, etc all out of good material - 7075-T6 alloy generally (the same material used for Boeing wing spars!). A bit more expensive than HE30 but much stronger.

Oh to answer your question, I expect my own brackets to be a similar price. (circa £80)
