wait for me!

So, as I lay here in ward C6 of Nottingham's QMC with a broken femur, I am made even more miserable by the knowledge that I won't hammering around Donington with you guys at the end of March and may be lucky to be racing by the middle of the year! Still, titanium screws and plates are marvellous things, so fingers crossed.

skidlids 14-Feb-2009 23:36

Sorry to hear your laid up in hospital, bit nasty those Femur breaks.
Make sure you don't get Senna3 visiting you, when I broke my Femur many many years ago he along with other mates would come and visit me in hospital where I was laid up in traction for some reason they enjoyed swinging the traction weights back and forth.
Still traction didn't work so a K-mail was inserted.
Hope to see you out on track later in the year

Apparently, it was caused by a thigh bone to road surface interface proximity condition brought about due to the incompatible coexistence of ice and rubber silica compounds in a hard asphalt environment. Of course, being astride (temporarily) a human powered velocipede at the time was not a clever idea.

Chaz 15-Feb-2009 09:43

That's a bummer Andy! puts a spanner in the works I was looking forward to seeing the ex Dicky bike bombing round, GWS.

And I'll bet if you had been riding "a powered velocipede" you would still be in one piece mate....

If I get chance....and can find a parking spot for a LWB Transit.

I'll keep in touch with your bro' for info'

Get well soon Andy-at least you are still around to post this.

My next door neighbour is a fireman-got called to an RTA the other day-55 year old biker on his way to work, hit some ice, went straight under a truck.................not nice.

If you're riding-be safe guys.

John

Dreadful news Andy, and on a push bike too :(
And they say racing is dangerous

SeeleyG50 15-Feb-2009 19:47

Impressive Hardware!

1 Attachment(s)
This is precisely what they've done to me to put things right........(tho mine does have 4 lower screws to accommodate my larger arse)

Attachment 10264

Impressive these physicians.....

Even asked me what colour I'd like it in (red naturally), but unable to confirm the supplied colour match.

God, you can tell the morph's kicked in again.........:o

Seriously tho, thanks for all the kind words. I'm home now, starting the, hopefully, short road to recovery.

Andy

By the way, it's called a Dynamic Hip Screw. Unfortunately, when I asked the missus if she'd like to see my 'Dynamic Hip Screw', she smacked me in the mouth.........which wasn't very nice considering I'm already wounded!

Make sure its gritted :)

Scooter916 15-Feb-2009 20:42

Andy are you sure thats a Dynamic wotsitt....
It looks a bit more like you slipped getting out of the bath and mysteriously lodged your electric toothbrush in an orifice thats normally one way.....
When sex games go wrong !!!!!!, I told John Fawcett about your misfortune, and he agrees with my findings, He says you dont even own a pushbike, but funnily enough you do have an electric toothbrush.
GWS mate, Keep smiling and get a new toothbrsuh.
