How many of you ordering the Desmosedici RR? So we know what it is now -- MotoGP missile rep with likely 170kg weight and 200bhp. Was wondering how many of you are thinking of saving up/remortgaging the house etc? The first year's production will probably be sold out soon -- there are already about 20 orders for the UK alone -- anybody here gonna take the plunge and get an order in? Or are you all waiting for the standard production version to follow? Does anybody here NOT want the bike? Rob |
I don't want one. I'm not keen on the looks of the race bike. I'd only have one if I had that much money that I could just throw away £35,000 and not care about it. |
I want one, I would love one...but unless I hit the lottery then it ain't happening... Which reminds me...note to self...buy lotter ticket for Saturday Draw...:D |
Can't afford it. |
I want one........ but now...... not in 2 bloody years time !!:lol::lol::lol: |
Wouldn't want one even if I had the wodge of cash needed to buy one. I find it a bit ugly to be honest |
Not for me either.:barfy: |
Now even if I had £35,000 to spend on a bike why would I get one that's nearly as ugly as my ST and according to Claudio Domenicali (spelling?) will need a huge amount of fettling. 200+ Bhp is pretty stupid as well. Be honest! None of us could use that type of power on the road, or on the track...if you reckon you can handle it you stand a pretty good chance of getting a Desmosedici ride for free because you're probably a WSB god already. So, IMHO the Desmosedici is destined to be a rich poseurs plaything, either standing in a glass case in somebody's living room, unridden since new. Or it might occasionally see dry roads or track and have chicken strips a mile wide because no-one wants to bin a £35K collectors item bike. There may be one or two bikes who's owners ride them anywhere near the bikes potential but I doubt it. |
Hmm, so you guys really think this is ugly do you? And you really wouldn't want to have one parked in your drive.. Well maybe I have a unique sense of aesthetics but... PHWOARRRR!!! Gimme!! Rob [Edited on 3-6-2004 by robracenut] |
I'm with you Rob................. by the time it comes out I might even be able to ride it properly :lol::lol::lol: :P |
Sorry lads but i might just have to have one, dont really agree that most people wont be able to use it to its full potential, most people dont use whatever bike they have to there full potential, thats not really what its all about. We all own our beloved Ducatis because (imho) we appretiate the engineering ,quality, and downright class that the family at the factory build into every bike that they build. As some of you know my890 lives in our dinning room during the winter months and its quite amazing how many total non bikers that we have around for dinner spend a huge chunk of the evening admiring the bike (try that with a rice burner). It would be interesting to see how many people would turn down an RR if they were given one for free! I am not the quickest or most confident rider on track but that dosnt stop me from using my £35k 890 on track, as i tell most people its there to be used ,and that includes letting anyone else who fancies trying it (i really enjoy whatching someone who knows what there doing putting it through its paces) I dont really have an opinion if i like thr RR or not-I just admire it for what it is,a beautifull piece of engineering. Sorry in advance if this post feels a bit soapbox-ish Love and kisses ! BUTCH |
Butch..... if you get one mate..... give us a go !!!:lol::lol::lol::lol: |
Ermmmm...... Order me two then.....;):P:barfy: |
Lisa...... do you want the other one in yellow !!:D:D:D |
I received a very polite letter today from Cobb & Jagger advising me that I have priority when ordering. Can't afford to exercise this right due to house purchase, but could there be a market in selling the production slot I wonder!! Don't think there will be many takers form this site judging from all the comments Rob:D:D |
I'll take it as I'm trying to buy three :smug: |
No problem Everton, make me an offer, you will have to be quick mind I think this could be a great EBay product or is that Scam Rob |

No problem mate..............if you could get the deposit on for me I'll make sure the cheque is in the post by the weekend........or I could get a bankers draft made up from my offshore account in the Cayman Islands. Can't say fairer than that................. :smug::smug: |
I'd love one,but at £35,000 & an engine re-build every 2,000 miles i'll have to give it a miss!! I'll wait a year for Ducati to do it's normal trick, get people to pay an over the top price for "special" bike then introduce a "cooking" version of the same bike at a realistic price the year after!! |
Just a couple of points to add to the mix: A lower-priced production version WILL be released, in a much lower state of tune, without all the magnesium and sand-cast engine parts, for about £15-20k. For this reason, the bike's looks have to be right. It's no good tooling for a production run on a bike nobody likes (they learned that from the stock 999). So you can be sure they'll work hard to make the bike look stunning. Further to that, because they're still working on the bike's design, they're listening to ideas. If you don't like the looks of the race bike and have ideas on how to improve them, EMAIL Ducati and tell them. The beauty of a small company is that you can often get through to the people that matter (I've had personal replies from Federico Minoli before). If just 10 people from this board emailed with an opinion, that's already 3% of potential buyers for the first production run. Bottom line -- if you're thinking of one -- email them and let them know what you want to see (then try and work out how to afford it! lol) Wonder how many of us will have remortgaged the wife and pimped out the house by 2006..! :eureka: [Edited on 4-6-2004 by robracenut] |
