Noise restrictions at Caddy track attack

Hello All,

I run a 2000 996 with 50mm termis, I wonder would I be ok regards noise or would I need to fit db killers?

Thanks indeed.

Hi James,

I also have 50mm Termis and I got through last year ok.

Thanks Colin

As long as your cans don't need repacking you will be fine-most 9** series bikes come it at about 102db with Termi's or equivalent.

Hold the clutch in and don't rev it as hard as they tell you = 99db!

Bionicle 19-May-2009 19:26

my 996 passed last year both Cadwell and Brands with full termis

Thanks indeed guys, should be fine as I am then.

Just try not to fart when you're going through the noise test. I did last year and it was a 120dB ripper

Had my S4R checked today with a full Sparks system and came out at 105.6db :o know wonder my neibours were not to happy with me :D
Looks like I may need some db killers, company said they wold supply and fit for £50, would take 3db of level.

Certainly should be, my 998 was OK last year on 50mm Termis and the 748 was OK on 45mm Sil-Motos

I wonder if my 998R will be OK on 54mm Termis

What RPM did you have it checked at?

If the db killers are easy enough to fit/refit I'd just bring them as "insurance" no point bunging yer drainpipes up unless you really have to:D

Ray.

They checked it at 5000rpm.

Still trying to workout whether to take/fit the db killers or fit the standard system back on :( need to get it mot'd in a couple of weeks anyway.

Confused

it should be fine with db killers.... then all you have to do is find a friendly MOT station ;)

MSV noise test is listed as

The noise limit for bikes is 105dB(A), measured statically at 0.5 metres and 45deg angle, at ¾ maximum rpm.

So a bit more revs than they rev'd the DD bikes to at Snetterton last weekend

It was tested as stated. Decided to put the standard pipes back on. It had bought a cat removal pipe, and when i went to do an oil change today, the full race system blocked removal of the oil filter. So thought if I had to take it off for oil change i might as well change the whole thing over :(

Sounds so quiet now.

Might see if i can get the race end cans altered so they will fit on the standard link pipe?
