DD Group Photo All, I'd really love to get a group photo of all of the DDrs from 2009. I'm sure some of you would also like a photo of this. Class of 2009..lol Anyway, there are some problems, IE getting everyone together at the same circuit etc. I'd like to have just the riders in full leathers holding helmets ( ohh err that just did'nt come out right ) in say three rows and on track somewhere. You all seen the start of year superbike riders line up type of pic. We could ask PLJ to take the pic ? Your thoughts please and also anyone want to help me arrange this, which circuit. Castle/Pembery/Cadwell It would make a great DSC front page pic or poster..blah blah Craig |
I can't do Pembrey but Cadwell is enough weeks away to get most contenders. Photo shop in the absentees. :) We have to consider the injured riders also. |
Yes, good point. All riders that have raced this season. Cadwell does seem the best place as it gives us time and most will be at the last race. Would be great shot all standing on the top of the Mountain Craig |
Good idea cos my dart board's nearly worn out. Cadwell's my choice too. Scott #50 |
Group Photo at Cadwell Parc Ferme  |
Quote:
Still only be half of them there    |
Craig, Great idea as it would also put names to face's for the newbies, I will be at Cadwell and Pembrey. What about a MotoGP line up with brollie dollies, now your talking!!!! Maybe line up of the brollie dollies weren't the right words, but sure it must have happend!!! You know what I mean Steve |

If we can pick a good background in Parc Ferme then yes. Any Ideas ? Craig |
Quote:
You bring the Dollies I'll bring the camera..:D Craig |
OK, so far lets make one commitment and say this is going to happen at Cadwell. Thats one out of the way. Craig |
Quote:
Only the bikes would need to stay in Parc Ferme so you could all get around the podium in the holding area;) |
Quote:
wot about forget us lot and just get one of a load of dollies, be nicer to look at than our ugly mush's, Harriot exempt?   Scott #50 |
Ooh! Quote:
I could bring a 16ft Piccie of Jennifer Love Hewitt for the back ground!!!! |
Just my 2penneth folks as "an artiste" (LOL :) ). The Parc Ferme area at Cadwell, as gorgeous as it is, is a bit pants in terms of it's photographic beauty. If you can wangle it, how about have the riders in rows (say 5 peeps wide or whatever's needed to fit them all in) sat on the track surface going up the mountain. That way you get natural height increases as each row goes back, thus all faces are seen. Said photographer can stand on the grass between the track and the public fencing, that way, he/she's elevated above the track surface by about 3 foot too. Main considerations are where the sun (if there's any) is present and if you can get access to the track for the shot. The mountain is a focal point on Cadwell and is a bit of a novelty feature for such a photo that would make it different to all the "riders sat in chairs in rows" type group shots you get (and that I've taken myself at BSB). Have fun... Guy |
Dude, we've already had a group photo taken at Cadwell! And it's in this weeks BSN too! Seriously though, great idea, and I'll be up for it. Guy brought up a couple of points, one that I was going to address, one I hadn't thought of. Firstly, the Mountain. I figured it would be better to do it on the start line (and it may still be better cos of the light) but when he said about being able to step people backwards, it made alot of sense. As long as EVERYONE can control their heads long enough to actually ALL look at the camera at the same time. Wedding groups do my head in for that caper, you'd think you were dealing with 5 year olds most of the time. Secondly, the light. It's disappearing early doors at that time of year, and the photographer will need a very good quality (expensive F2.8 or faster) lens if they're going to get any kind of light into an image that's taken at that time of night (either that or a long exposure where we all stand still like statues for 10 seconds haha!) With that in mind, it might be very difficult to get anything other than a quite moody sunset type shot. Maybe one during the day would turn out better. It'd be a shame not to be on track, but at the end of the day we want a pic where we can see everyone, not just their shadows! Wonder if Guy would take it?....GUY!!!! :) |
I was hoping you would be along Guy, thx for the advise. So now a couple more pinned to the board. 1 Cadwell 2 On Track ( Mountain or Start Finish ) 3 Afternoon ( Dinner Break between Races ) for light 4 Professional Photographer I vote Mountain, mainly because its near to get on and off but Tim has a point and it may look good with the start lights in the background ? Errr was you coming to watch the race Guy ? We could purchace the shot/s through your site. But will that meet you expense to get there ? Need a couple of volunteers to help round people up on the day Craig |

Ok Tim, but you can take a turn at the back of the photo:lol: Jes I had to get a super big magnifer out to just about see part of my helmet in the back of that BSN pic. "look kids thats me just there" lol:) Craig |
If memory serves me right, and you're stood in Parc Ferme, the sun at Cadwell starts over behind Barn, comes round behind the crappy lake/swamp, round over Coppice and ends up behind you in the afternoon. As Otei says, with wedding group shots it's a difficult toss up between having light ramming down your lens (a no-no) or all your subjects squinting like mad cos they're looking in to the sun. ou can work around it easily enough at Cadwell. Can someone post up the date for Cadwell as I don't have it handy.....??? DOH, just found the calendar Oct 3/4 will check my diary.... I'll try and make it if I can as I've not been to a DD round for ages and it would be good to see everyone. Guy |
Cadwell "grandstand" near the mountain any good??? if you can't get track access just got to tip all the speccys out, at Luchtime it should be easy to lure them out with a few packets of crisps:D I usually make a trip to the last round in the car so maybe a lift down from the Norf can be sorted if you like Guy. Ray. |
Looks like it could be a go-er folks. I have a photography thing that weekend but it's a 2-dayer and I could miss a day. I'll try and get media accreditation for the event so I can be trackside for the racing too. Which day of either Sat or Sun would be best for the shot to work (with the riders and the meeting/circuit organisers)???? |
Quote:
Sunday is always best as some don't do the none points saturday:) Be great if you can make it Guy. |
Quote:
Possibly more riders on the Sunday due to it being points scoring, as Saturday isn't. |
[quote=Guido]Looks like it could be a go-er folks. I have a photography thing that weekend but it's a 2-dayer and I could miss a day.quote] That is great news indeed Guy, :) I agree that the Sunday is probally better as said earlier thread. Craig |
I was talking to Paul from PLJ at CC and he said he'd be more than happy to to get a track pass and take some pics of us at Cadwell. He can speak to the powers that be there and arrange it, he thought the mountain idea was good but mentioned that there is a gantry above the start/finish line he could take a shot or 2 from, maybe with the top 3 A + B bikes and us lot gathered round looking up. What do people think? |
I think thats a great idea but I would have to say we should give Guy ( Cope Images )the first shout on this being a member of the DSC and past photo Guy of our DSC track attacks. Craig |
Guy did a great start line shot of one of the first trackdays at Cadwell. I'll try and dig it out and post it unless someone beats me to it. |
3/4 October is the Dave Holland Memorial event so it will be busy with old racers, (very possibly me included). On Saturday there will be a band in the canteen (not me) and fireworks and a comedy surf board for naked pi55ed riders to fall off in style. Last time was a superb weekend, one of the best racing weekends I have ever experienced. Mark at Holbeach organises everything and has been busy on the phone trying to persude people like me to dust the cobwebs off the bikes and come and have a laugh. If you are an ex racer with no ACU or New Era membership, it is still possible to get a day membership to race on the day, or simply come along, get drunk, sleep in the car and watch the DD boys and girls. WeeJohnyB |
Always a cracking weekend of racing, perfect way to round off the year!! I miss that Cadwell vibe. |
Last year was fkin brilliant in the club house, the guy in the green mankini certainly had some bottle. Was going to say bollox but wouldn't seem quite PC.:D |

Hi Murray Mint, Twasn't me that took the startline shots. That was Gary from Picman (Picture Management) when he used to cover the DSC trackday. Tis easy enough to do tho assuming the time we can get access to track and gantry fits in with where the sun is (if any) on the day. Quote:
Many thanks Craig. I'm happy either way. I know Paul's at New Era meets every round so he might have more sway than me with the organisers if they're a bit anti any deviation from the normal chain of events at a track meeting. If people want me there, then I'm happy to go for accreditation and make the day, but equally if everyone's happy with Paul from PLJ, I'm not going to cry about it and kick up a fuss :) Regards, Guy |
