2010 Provisional Race Dates I see Silverstone is one of the tracks listed as a provisional round with new era. Never been to silverstone and just wondered which circuit layout would be/has been used for club bike racing ? |
The short circuit has always been used by NGRRC and at the old MCC meetings, same as we used for bike shake downs at the start of this year and last year. Most of that circuit should remain mainly unchanged over the winter with the work starting soon to get it ready for nexts years MotoGP. I was looking at the planned changes at lunchtime today and from what I could tell they were removing the Micky Mouse Chicane otherwise the rest of the short circuit looked mainly unchanged |

I may well come along to this pre season shake down :) hopefully silverstone will be on the DD calender. Silverstone could be hosting the 2010 Car GP too  |

The begining of this year we did it with Hottrax who had a ACU group, so the Knight Road Racing team also came along as Sam Coventry could fit in some testing as did Clint on their 1098, who faired a bit better thn Dallas did on his 1098. Craig was also their along with Maty Senna3 and myself and as it was the first Sunday of the month it was also the destination for the Oxon/Berks rideout which was also joined by a sizeable contingent from the Hants region. Seems like an age ago now but for most of us it kicked off the new season pretty well As for the F1 I think if Donny can't host it Bernie will move it abroad |
2010 we are due a dry day Kev. Craig |
Silverstone has been on the early season DD test calander for years, and always in the wet IIRC. Nice pits/paddock set up keeps you dry though! |

Yep remmeber popping up to see Fil2 suffering carb icing problems in early 2005 I also recall people bringing a 748RS, 1098 Superstocks, trackday 748s, 996s and even my 750SSie Minitwin. One year it got that wet the organisers only allowed out those on Full wets |
wet I've never ridden on a track as slippery as silverstone in the wet! |

You should have taken part in the old MCC meetings there, they held one bike race meeting a year, always at Silverstone and always at this time of year. As such the conditions were often wet I remember a lad called Mark Bishop always going well in the wet on his YZF750, think that had something to do with his 18 stone or more adding some extra grip. I also recall watching a great race for about 6th in the 600 class with Simon Knowlson on wets and Adrian Crosson using Pirelli Dragons that he had used at the Manx GP a couple of months earlier, its amazing how quickly a really smooth rider can go in the wet even on road based tyres. |
