Yes, it's a lovely looking machine, but how do you improve upon perfection? ;) |
aren't thos wheels new? Anyway they look pretty good to be honest. |

Yes, they replace the Y-spoke ones on the previous R model. I think they are a similar design to the Desmosedici wheels. ![]() |
I prefer the old look myself, the new one is OK, just not immediately striking. They may have missed a trick. |
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! IMO the old one looks rubbish in comparison Really boring I think the new 1198R is one of the nicest looking ducati's I've seen in ages Shame I don't have the £££££££ |
At the risk of gushing - I f**king love this bike! I'll go away now |
Thats never the new R,.....is it?Its hideous,......the designer wants to be taken outside and shot. Ducati's should be red,....red,.....RED!!!:ninja: |
It looks mega in real life- proper race like machine and the new style Termi's that they are doing for the superbikes look real trick as well |
Have you seen the prices in MCN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The S is 20k the R is 39k No downturn in Italy then ;-) |

crikey! 39k for the R! i'd rather save an extra 1k and wobble around on a D16... |
The new 1098R comes with a full comp. exhaust system which previously was only on the Bayliss rep. The main change is the slightly larger tank [just like Noris] which makes it much easier to ride, as previously you really had to grip hard with your legs to stop sliding forwards under hard braking. I,ve ordered one for mine & I,m having it resprayed, as in the flesh the new colour scheme looks fantastic |
Don't forget that we're almost at parity with the Euro these days. £30,000 @ £1 : €1.1 = €33,000 so back in the day when it was £1 : €1.56 you'd get... €33,000 / 1.56 = £21,154 ... which is roughly the old price. It's not Ducati that is changing the prices, it's our wonderful Government that is driving our currency into the ground! "A weak currency is the sign of a weak economy, which is the sign of a weak government." Gordon Brown, 1995. |
Hi, just joined the forum so 'hello'. Thought I'd contribute to the discussion regarding 1198R and S. I've just taken delivery of my 1198s Corse and thought I'd clear up a few points. The Corse paint job is to support Ducatis re-branding of the new 'Corse' logo, and with most things in life some like it, some don't. Personally I love it, just that bit different to look at. The tanks is a larger (2 litres I think) aluminum race tank which is standard on the Corse over the 1198s. You also get on the 1198s Corse; New Termignoni end cans with the slashed angled rear, not a full system. Rear paddock stand ECU to match the end cans My local dealer (MotoRapido) was feeling charitable and threw in a race air filter whilst they were putting the bike together for me. The UK market didn't have the plaque mentioned earlier on this thread on the 1198s Corse, but I have seen it on either the S or the R in the US - can't remember which. OTR prices today in the UK are approx £193xx'ish for the S and the R comes in at £29xxx'ish. |
