Desmo Due 2010 Calendar Guys, I have been able to finalise the last items this morning and as such I can announce the planned calendar for the 2010 season: April 2-5th Brands Hatch - BSB meeting April 25th Silverstone May 8-9th Anglesey May 31st Mallory July 17-18th Snetterton August 21-22nd Pembrey September 11th Castle Combe October 2-3rd Cadwell Park I will confirm which day we will be racing at Brands Hatch in the near future, for the time being please work on the basis that our two races will be on Sunday 4th April and practise on the Saturday. The new Ducati 848 Challenge series will be in attendance at a number of these round, please see a seperate announcement. The Dutch Club will be at the Silverstone round, most likely with two grids - so this will be a real Ducati festival. |

Fantastic work Chris Brands and Silverstone, I'll be entering both as will Dallas and Kev P, then again Kev P has entered evry DD meeting ever held |
fantastic Chris, would be good to see the 848 and DD at the same rounds |
That's great! Brands and Silverstone. Can't wait now. Well done Chris. :) Still, bit of a shame about Oulton though. |
Now thats a good mix, good work indeed. :) Best I get my forms in to you then. Craig |
Nice one, :) plus 1 about oulton though. And howabout a one of round of desmomoto at Donnington? Mud n tarmac could be fun on a twin...... |
Wasn't there a possibility of a round at Assen? Is that still an option Chris? |
Blimey thats changed! Looks like you peeps got some excellent tracks to play on. Well done Chris. Andy |
Quote:
There is very little likelyhood of a round at Oulton in 2010. |
Quote:
Desmo Due will not be going to Assen in 2010. |
Quote:
So what happened to Assen? |
Quote:
The grid space is already taken! |
Quote:
Where is it Chris? PS. glad to see Brands back well done. |

Roy, The 848 announcement is currently with Ducati UK - there will be a press release this afternoon, as well as a news letter to all UK Ducati dealers. Once they have gone out I will put it up on here. Chris |
That's fantastic work. Well done Chris. Only 4 months of dreaming to get through now LOL. |
Quote:
look forward to it... |
Quote:
Thanks Chris, pobably be the Evening Standard now  |

Great work Chris, Brands and Silverstone in the same month. :D Good job they're either side of payday!!!! Shame about Oulton but we can't have everything, top schedule and the non racing chaps at work will be well cheesed off and very green. |
Quote:
Looks like the 848's have it. |
Quote:
My thoughts exactly. I bet there isn't 35 on the grid either. |

You are of course entitled to your view, but access to Assen is not a given for Desmo Due. Over the years discussions with the Dutch Club have been fruitful, but they want a spectacle that will bring in paying spectators. Given that the 848 series format has been put forward as the basis of a Ducati Northern Europe formula, then it is important that it is showcased at that event. |

But they haven't had sessions Red flagged for excessive noise or left baffles and coke cans etc strewn all of the track or ignored black flags YET, Add that little lot on top of a couple of years of less than full grids and I for one am not suprised we're not top of their Guest list Then there was last years complete lack of interest in committing to the event by the cut off date as the numbers amounted to less than half a grid. Still Brands will be nice with or without BSB as I didn't think we would be there this year and its been a while since I raced at Silverstone especially without the Micky Mouse chicane. |
Quote:
has that hone now then?! I really need to get the latest layouts of these tracks!! |
Quote:
My understanding is that as Moto GP is going there, one of the many changes included removing the big old Grandstand on the outside of Woodcote and building a smaller one futher back so enabling there to be more run-off and allow them to do away with the chicane and also create a new pit lane entrance. Now that they have secured the Formula 1 for another 17 years there may be a few more changes being planned, maybe the new grandstand will be a bit bigger/grander than planned, but still futher back as the F1 cars will find the extra run-off usefull as well as an improved pit lane entrance |
got Forza 3 now and I think it has a few of these tracks.. |
So now we know Assen is just not going to happen how about an alternative? I really dont know which tracks to suggest but there must be some good tracks that want an extra grid? Mark. (Lookking forward to a cracking year) :) |

That really isn't a problem for me Chris, the place hates me. Great skills on lining this up. Can't wait :) |
And just as a small commment on the side. I'm not sure that people realise how spoiled they are with circuits in this country. Considering the size of the UK, we are absolutely RAMMED with great tracks, and always have a great choice each year. As an example, if you race in America, the geography of the place (It's huge) often dictates that you race with a single club, usually with no more than 3 tracks to choose from (unles you do AMA). I raced at Willow Springs, and their championship is held at one track...you guessed it...Willow Springs. We are REALLY lucky. :) |
Just a quick update: I have now had a couple of calls regarding the Brands Hatch BSB round and the possibility of TV coverage. This has not been requested by myself off the organisers, so far. We are due to meet in January to finalise arangements and I will put it on the table. For the timebeing please assume that there will be no TV coverage of our races. |
Quote:
That's going to be a baptism of fire for a first timer like me! It's pressure enough having the place full of British Superbike elite and massive crowds, it's probably for the best if it's not on TV as well! |
Size matters? Quote:
Word...bitches... From me...1000 miles to Eastern Creek, 700 miles to Phillip Island: my local, Mallala (like Snetterton) 50 miles away. You guys have 3 local GP/WSB tracks, and Oulton, Cadwell, Snet, etc.. EXCELLENT WORK CHRIS. Well done. |

I've already discussed this with Chris a couple of weeks ago, and we had an idea about a suitable replacement for Assen. Hopefully Chris will be following up on this to see if it can be done. Don't forget that as a UK race club, it's a whole world of hassle to get a grid overseas; there's enough red-tape as it is in racing in the UK, let alone trying to get grid space, for what is essentially a novice series, on someone else's patch who may well have different rules. These things don't happen easily and they certainly don't happen overnight! BUT it is being looked at so fingers crossed something will happen. In the mean time, look at the great series that you have got already, look at the great venues that have been confirmed and think yourselves lucky. You only have to compare it to most other classes in "ordinary" race clubs to see just how exceptional racing in DD can be, and I think some people take that for granted. |
Quote:
Oh yeh, I'm 5h1tting it already, I thought Castle Combe had a big crowd! Mind you if it does get coverage at least I'll see just how cr4p I am for myself. :D |
Quote:
As another example. Preston DMC run their series at the 3 sisters, Darley Moor and Aintree. These are tiny tracks compared to the DD calender. Ok i did want Oulton in the list but to be at Brands and Silverstone for me being new is fantastic news. |
Quote:
Bit like making a porn film eh....so i'm told. LOL |
Quote:
Ditto Chris, Great Venues. Going to lose my DD virginity at Brands (my fave) :) |
Nice to see Brands back on the timetable. But make no mistake, we'll get the **** end of the timetable... now I'm not being negative or having a moan, cos I know where we stand in the pecking order, just make sure you know what to expect so there's no complaining after the event - remember Moto6 last year? |
Quote:
I'll have a word with that nice Mr Palmer, he will slot us in at 15:00 just before the BSB round. Well can only hope. |
I should imagine it is difficult in a normal year to try and get slots organised at meetings before someone decided to wreak havoc by digging up Donnington and the following fiasco of F1 or no F1 at Silverstone. I see the track day guys are starting to publish dates so better try and get some practice in at Brands I think. Mark. |
You are very lucky racers getting on the same card as BSB, well done Chris. Even if you have to wait all day and half the crowd have gone home, it will still be a big day and you will get to watch the races as well. Suspect you'll be in the outer paddock, but wonder if you will have pitlane passes as usual so you can get close up? I recall racing at Castle Coombe with BSB riders there and a big crowd -what a difference, it was brilliant to have so many people watching. If you do go out before them, make sure your sump plug etc is tight:lol: WeeJohnyB |
