Carbon fibre.......how good? Along with the latest Pronto, there was a sheet from a carbon fibre company(i don't have my copy with me,so i can't remember the name). I'm interested in having a set of cambelt covers for my 998S,the bike is littered with carbon already but it's all DP kit.DP don't make the cambelt covers so i'm having to look elsewhere!! Has anybody bought anything from the aforementioned company,if so,how does it compare to DP kit for fit/quality? |
think its Streamline - got a couple of bits from them and found they fitted well and are good quality - certainly as good as my DP hugger. |
Nah it isn't streamline - their prices are actually reasonable! More than I can say for the guys on the leaflet :saint: [Edited on 15-6-2004 by DJ Tera] |
in that case - www.streamlinecarbon.com (I think!!) |
Thanks guys,i'll be on streamlines web page to have a look!!:D |
Guys at CMW have a European supplier for non-DP parts as well as the "good" stuff :D if you wanna try them, believe it's decent quality kit too. :saint: |
Take a look at TecMoto as well: http://www.tecmoto.co.uk/ Great guys and very knowledgeable - lots of Essex regioners use them. |
You know...the people at Churchill must be really brassed off that they spent loads of money on getting Thora Hird to advertise their products for old codgers - before she died obviously* - and yet everyone thinks that it was Stannah Stair Lifts that she was wittering on about. Same must be true for the folks at Sandbar Composites, 4 Lester Close, Twyford, Banbury, Oxon, OX17 3LH (01295 812792) because it was their flyer in Pronto not Streamlines. Prices look OK until you realise that they're before the dreaded VAT. Examples £92.65 for a front mudguard, £105.38 for a hugger - both for a 916 type of bike. |

Yes - I noticed this too. I didn't think they were that cheap, even without the VAT! |
I'd noticed that they were'nt that cheap, that's one of the reasons for asking if anybody had actually bought/fitted any of their stuff,no replies on that yet!! Perhaps they're way too expensive? |
Rip's stuff is good AND priced well. |
Baylissboy I`m sure that DP do C/F cambelt covers for the 998s that also fit the 999 series as well. They also do some mouth watering covers in TI for the 999 that fit then 998Testastretta engines. Regards Bob |
rcgbob44 Thanks mate,just rang JHP,they do the covers,DP genuine parts,£118 plus the VAT!! |
|
BB - If you put anymore carbon fibre on that bike it will float!!!! |
Steve M You know how much weight i've put on,i've got to employ what ever means i can to keep up with you!!! |
Speak to Wayne at Techmoto. I appreciate we all have our fav's but their stuff is v-good. |
Tried all the companies suggested on this thread, the only company that do the covers i want is Sandbar composits(the flyer with Pronto)!! They want £185 plus VAT,a little on the expensive side i feel!! Re-checked JHP for price/available of DP covers, they made a mistake,no parts available for a 998!! So unless anyboby knows differently, the only choice is Sandbar. Which leads me back to my original question, has anybody tried/seen any of their carbon fibre parts? |
BB Check out the oned for a 999, I`m 99.9% sure they fit the 998, both bikes use the Testasreta engines or check with ProTwins. |
rcgbob44 I re-checked with JHP,spoke to the main parts manager, they do the covers for a 998,but they aren't genuine DP parts, but knowing John's high standards they'll be fine!! Slightly cheaper than Sandbar too!! I'll be ordering them soon!! Thanks for everybodies help!!:bouncy: |
How about the ones fitted to the 749R? They even provide belt cooling for the rear cylinder. |
BB Go onto the Ducati.com site and check out the items for the 999, they will fil the 998. |
BB, have you spoken to Sandbar about that part you want? Ask Nigel at Sandbar...I believe that his pieces are genuine DP. Tel no. is in Jool's post above. SA |
