998 handlebar conversion

Being vertically challanged, does anyone out there know where I can get a handlebar conversion for a 998 to raise the bars up just a touch. A pal of mine has had it done to his, but it was there when he bought the bike so he doesn't know who by.

Cheers

Helibars are fantabulous!

Dunno who, where or how much cos mine were donated free of charge by my friendly local main dealer :sing:

There is a kit available (just can't remember where) that lifts them up and back slightly.
Happy searching!!
Someone sold some recently on this site - have a look through some old posts.:sing:

I had a set of Ducati bar rasiers & sold them through this site a good while ago , the new position just did not work for me !
I just reposition the original bars to suit me , which worked wonders for the comfort factor a set of rear sets also helped a lot
You need to strip the handle bars & file or remove a pin thats pushed into the bars , after that you can put the clutch/brake levers in any position you like

Will try & get some pics !

Thanks everybody :)

I think it was MartinH who was advertising helibars on the board, may be wortha search or u2u to see if he sold them

My bike came fitted with them and they work well for me as i've broken my wrist in 6 places so its a bit iffy. I'd ridden other bikes with standard bars and they gave my wrist a bit of gip.

Gilles are also marketing their VariBar for the 998 now. adjustment in two planes plus a 15mm lift.

I just followed DJ's link to the CycleCat kit - looks damn good I must say.

DJ, have you got the rearsets and bar risers fitted to yours? Is the machining quality as good as it looks on the website.

It's better  not cheap though, but a good example of "you do get what you pay for"............

Thanks Neil, they look quality! If I do keep the 996 for the road and a few TD's every year then I'll put them on the list I think.

I think Spareshack keep some Cyclecat stuff - not too far from Twickenham? They had some on show at Ally Pally, looked superb (but not inexpensive...).

Now don't go tempting me!!

It's on the list but a low priority - how am I going to convince my wife to let me race if I keep spending money on this bike!

DJ Tera 18-Jun-2004 12:44

The rearsets are damn nice aren't they!

Felix 18-Jun-2004 12:48

TP, if you're going racing, spending money on bar risers seems silly, somehow. But, hey, maybe that's just me.

Spareshack are the UK importors of all things CycleCat. The stuff is amazing quality, but as mentioned before, you will have to pay for it

Thats kinda my point Felix ... if I spend money on that bike then there's no chance of her letting me go racing AND spending money there ... the two are definitely mutually exclusive!

Thats not to say I'm going racing yet either - in the early stages of 'discussion' ... but best I hold off on spending money on the 996 for a while ... maybe spending money on my wife instead ;)
