Hi from a \'new\' boy........... Hello all, having been a member of the club for almost a year I thought it only right that I finally say hello, having enjoyed reading the site for the last couple of years. Perhaps it's the frustration of not being able to ride for a while....bike being repaired and cruciate ligament re-attaching itself to my tibia, having been knocked off from behind by a myopic driver!http://217.199.188.40/xmb/images/smilies/sad.gif I'm looking forward to meeting many of you, and will make contact with the Dorset crew soonhttp://217.199.188.40/xmb/images/smilies/bouncy.gif |
Ooops, haven't yet mastered smileys.... sorry about that |
Welcome to the board PB! I would say welcome to the club but you've been here for a while ... Hope the knee is ok! and the bike back soon .... Maybe we'll see you at the Popham mega-meet? |
hop on, welcome |

Hello PB, and welcome. I had my cruciate ligament detatch itself some years ago, and it takes a while to heal.... I was off two wheels for 6 months, so I sympathise. Was told not to ride for longer, but what do them quacks know! I remember when I turned up at a physio appointment with the new bike - she went totally fruitcake on me - it was quite funny  Might see you at popham one day, or maybe I'll venture down to poole quay sometime. Do you join that meet? nb |
have not got a clue what that ligamentie thing is your all on about , but i rekon you should get it replaced with a nice after market carbon fibre one, that should get your bike back on the road.:P welcome glyn |
I know that feeling (knocked off by myopic car driver!) I was taken out by one and got a bit messed up and bike destroyed:mad:Should make sure drivers have EYES before they buy a car:devil: But new Duke on way sooooooooooo:D |
Welcome PB, Sorry to hear of your off............... Check out this thread, it may well be worth your while getting in touch......... http://217.199.188.40/xmb/viewthread.php?tid=9935 Only new myself but the advice and banter you will get from the board is excellent....... Regards ScottyB |

Hi PB, Welcome and hello. Sorry to hear about your woes with you're legs, and hope everything is sorted. As you may guess from my signature, I'm the joint Dorset Region Coordinator. Tomorrow we're meeting at St Leonards, for a ride down to Westbay, meeting at 11am. We normally meet for our rides on the third Sunday of each month, as well as riding out to the Hants and Oxford meets as examples. You are more than welcome to meet up with us tomorrow. Also, on the second Tuesday we meet down at the Quay, info can be found on below link. If you've not seen yet have a look at this Dave W also helps me run the region, although his computer is feeling ill at the moment.... What do you ride by the way? You can contact us at. Mail us or post you’re e mail addy so I can add you to our mailing list. Hope to see you soon, Mark |
Thank you all for your generous welcome: It is most heart warming. NBs996: I hope your knee is now fully fit - you had me worried as i read how long you were supposed to restarin from riding! Glyn: A nice new carbon ligament sounds ideal - do I get a DSC discount BrownRigby: Your similar 'off' sounds relatively recent, are you now OK? Hope so, and am jealous of a nice shiny new bike! Scotty B: I will make contact following your suggestion - although I'm hoping that my knee is recovering sufficiently well not to warrant being dissected by a laser.......... Flanker: Looking forward to meeting you soon - will try to make Poole Quay on Tuesday. Where abouts do you generally tend to gather and at what time? Oh, yes ... a little background info: My baby is a red '98 748BP: Carbon cans, braided lines, but as all the plastic needs replacing I am thinking along the lines of replica 998 fairings (being well looked after by Tony @ Two Four Italia), again in red but perhaps with some restrained personalisation. Current thinking is the white number board nose cone detail with gold line, and perhaps a french flag on the 'SPS' seat unit (I shan't mention the football.......). Any (polite...) suggestions gratefully received. I am living in sin in Poole with my lovely girlfiend (!) who should pass her bike test, fingers crossed, in the next 12 months or so. :frog: |

Hey, don't worry about that mate, I had other bits broken in there too.... One bit of advice though - if you've got a physio routine to do then be disciplined and stick to it! I was lazy, and as a result I still get grief from it 14 years on!! As for the plastics - I've got the white number board with gold trim and I think it looks good, but a french flag? Are you serious??!!!! |
BrownRigby: Your similar 'off' sounds relatively recent, are you now OK? Hope so, and am jealous of a nice shiny new bike! Good guess mate as it was 9 weeks ago! Not to bad at the mo, broken collar (3 places ) getting there / ribs and back not right but not complaining (tooooo much:frog:) the rest is ok. However the bike was very DEAD:mad: and i had just spent a few thou on it through the year:mad::mad: Cannot wait to get the Duke:D Good luck with your recovery:bouncy: |
Hello PB...welcome to the board... Hope the "ligament" sorts itself... Lisa x |
Hi Patrica, We at present meet at the seaview hotel, then make our way down to the Quay. However, we are having a re-think about that. I'll mail you and others up dates etc as they come up. Thanks for the mail, and very much look forward to meeting you with the others soon. Mark. |
Welcome aboard mate Mark |
Welcome PB...... from the tart boys !!:roll::bouncy::bouncy: |
Thanks again for the excellent welcome Sorry didn't make it to Poole Quay last night - but I'm betting not many others did either! Hope to catch up with many of you soon, in the meantime I'm off to TFI to agree rebuild spec of my little baby:sing: and then off to see the physio for some more torture! Bye for now.... |
