Oulton TD Saturday 26th Feb

Anyone going?
Just booked me and Toni on £78 each with No Limits.

She can't wait to show off her new paint job.

Sorted 14-Jan-2011 19:14

Hi Neil,
Would have liked a TD at Oulton (never ridden there) but on a TD at Snetterton Sun 27th, so will have to give it a miss... Toni's Bike looks great! :)

dunlop0_1 14-Jan-2011 19:22

No worries Alan. Expect a full report on Snett 300 though. :)

skidlids 14-Jan-2011 21:36

At that price the trackday is cheaper than the fuel to get me there and back.
Think I'll travel to Brands and what I save on fuel covers the difference in the prices of the track time
Have a good one Neil and hopefully Toni's bike will look just as pretty afterwards

bradders 14-Jan-2011 21:47

the way I seem to be in the frozen north every week I'd have loved too...but being a weekend i get blisters and a nosebleed above Oxford ;)

going to be interesting to see how that pipe where its situated will work with that wrapping, may be a tad warm

numbskull 14-Jan-2011 21:53

Just needs some numbers and it'll be ready to race...

Ran exhaust at Oulton in November with no wrapping and it was not hotter that the DD bike.
Just wrapped it as a precaution, not for Toni but for the idiot husband she has who will probably get hold of it
It's actually made out of my old 748 stock system with one of the cans shorten and cored, even made a removable baffle out of the left overs.
Cost nowt to do ! True northern economy. Now I'm of t lick t road dry.

bradders 15-Jan-2011 10:01

you wanna watch that home made stuff, another 5 years you'll be the new ghost!!

I'm lucky if I can make a bolt fit a hole, never mind master home building chopper skills

Cranker V2 15-Jan-2011 17:48

hmmm, I will either do oulton on the 26th or go to monteblanco spain. I am tyring to justify 3 days in spain to myself now.

dunlop0_1 15-Jan-2011 19:43

Oulton £78, somewhere in Europe £££££. Have you won the lottery?
We are racing at Oulton this year so I know where I will be practising dude.

badgerpilot 16-Jan-2011 13:10

Can you do an afternoon half day?

Working the Fri night so a 9am track start could be a bit hair raising!

Otei 18-Jan-2011 18:22

Will there be pies?

dunlop0_1 18-Jan-2011 18:34

Why are you coming??

Otei 18-Jan-2011 18:40

I might if you make me a special pie.

One that contains 2 brand new Dunlop tyres and several hundred pounds.

Anyone want to buy some 2 lap old Pirellis? Ridiculous.

Ghost 19-Jan-2011 22:16

I've booked into this one at Oulton, novice group as inters is sold out. The fast group is just toooooooooooooo fast. :D

Have to run these new pistons in for a few miles anyway. :)

you be careful with those new tyres ;)

only 2 weeks now....

JasonBoswell 25-Feb-2011 20:09

I'll be at Brands on the 28th giving the 848 a run out...

ells 27-Feb-2011 08:34

To those who did not attend you missed half a dry day.

The morning was just wet and misserable and I spent the time getting the new tyres on and after a few fueling issues (Thanks again to Phil and Neil) were sorted got out on track in the afternoon.

I am no expert :) but the new tyres do seem to be head and shoulders above the old ones. The bad point is I think we will be using more thyres this year as I suspoect they are going to go off quicker. Got out found a few more things I need to do. Seats not quite right for me, couple of itrems to refresh. Seat needs to be supported more. Looks like a cracking track and a good addition to the calendar.

Looking forward to brands

Mark

how'd you get on with the new riding position? I find the pegs a little low and forward, but you must be able to tuck in on the straights now..

As Mark say's. Just to add a couple of things I found. The tyres without doubt give far far more grip in the wet that the Pirelli's. This also seemed to apply in the drying/dry track where I managed to get into the 2 min 5 sec time. However after looking at the tyres today I reckon pushing hard on a hot day and an 18 lap race you could destroy a pair. :o

Great day had by all though, well up to a point.

Ghost 27-Feb-2011 14:44

Cheers Phil.

All clean and repaired now apart from the hole in the fairing, think I'll leave that as a reminder. :D

Bert3 27-Feb-2011 16:01

Yer daft beggar, Neil ..... didn't look like that when I left ....
"Oh, I'll just do one more session..." I think you said ;)

I did do some sneaky timing to see what the difference was between the Class A & B bikes .... interesting .... only about 7 secs a lap ....well, when Phil had fuel in his carbs anyway

Bionicle 27-Feb-2011 16:58

Phil,
You have to stop bragging m8 non of us believe its that big :)

Yea I did say that, what a tw*t I am.
However you have to push hard and as the young Mr Pritchard says, "if you aint first, your last".

After watching Phil down the start finish straight :o it doesn't suprise the difference is so small.

Trust me, it's massive.

Jolley 27-Feb-2011 18:08

If it was wet that would have made the times closer anyway. The difference is only really the extra 12 or so bhp gaining a few mph on the straights.

I can't wait to try Oulton. Hopefully it will be dry when we race there though.
