Entry forms and tyres ????

8 weeks to go and still no sign of entry forms or tyres.

Can we have an update please?

numbskull 17-Jan-2011 18:35

I assume that we can still run the old tyres for the first 3 rounds, the same as last year?

Jolley 17-Jan-2011 18:59

I'm sure Kev will be along in a bit. I was speaking to (someone) today and they were talking to (someone else) this morning, and the first someone is just waiting for the final "yes" before ordering 30+ pairs of tyres.

Kev said (and I am sure he won't mind me saying this) that the plan was to have the control tyres (whatever the final decision is, although hopefully it won't be a surprise!) available at the test day on 20th Feb.

numbskull 17-Jan-2011 19:01

What happens if i'm not as the test day?

I am fairly sure they will be posting them out to anyone that can't make it. Of course, I could always pick them up for you.... I won't tamper with them or anything. Honest!!

I hope it's a lot more than 30+ Ron. I want two sets and with 37 starters on the Brands grid last year I think demand will possibly outstrip supply very quickly.
As regards The 20th Feb test day. Well not all of us can make that so I was sort of hoping the tyre issue would have been sorted out way before then so they could be tested out at earlier trackdays.

skidlids 17-Jan-2011 23:33

I intend to issue a update tomorrow by way of email.
Its mainly announcing the tyre deal.

As there is bound to be a initial high demand for tyres, we are trying to cover the options so that 2011 DD registered riders can get hold of them.

To cope with the initial demand there will be 3 options as opposed to the normal 2.
Option 1 - Collect from Supplier
Option 2 - Have Deliverd by mail
Option 3 - Collect at the Brands Testday

More on this tomorrow in the email

Note that the important part of this post is "2011 DD registered riders"! Guys you might want to get your entry forms in smartish!

ells 18-Jan-2011 10:55

Looks like there might be a long line of DD bikes waiting to get tyres fitted at Brands Day then.

Mark.
:)

Too right I am. For the cost of the 3 sets I bought last year I can have 4 this year!

Cheers again Kev for all your (and whoever else behind the scenes) hard work. We didn't just stumble on this deal, and it is for a H rated (apparently ideal for our bikes, but I doubt I'll be able to notice) Dunlop (my manufacturer of choice for my 848). A pat on the back for finding a decent tyre at the right price to keep this budget racing. It can't have been easy to wait to confirm the details with us all moaning!

Indeed - this came up in conversation at the Essex pub night and it seems that buying 4 sets of tyres over the season is the average, so you're effectively getting your tyres cheaper, or getting one set free, whichever way you want to look at it!

With the cost increase due to VAT, petrol tax and everything else going up, it's great that the series is able to stick to it's "cheap racing" ethos and help give something back.

I don't think any of us see it as moaning as such, you're all passionate about the series and it's great to get the ideas discussed and to feed back the rider's comments into the series. You guys tried the new Pirelli, the natural successor to the original tyre we had used from the start, and didn't like them. Rider power meant you questioned it and we now have a different tyre which fits with what you guys asked ... just please DON'T ask to change it again next season!! ;)

dunlop0_1 19-Jan-2011 12:33

Yep fantastic news, just ordered 2 sets off Mark.

Now how about those entry forms?

Sorted 19-Jan-2011 15:26

Yep me too Neil :)

Lily 19-Jan-2011 17:36

any chance you could post up what the tyres are and what the price is in case anyone is considering joining in....

ells 19-Jan-2011 17:38

I an trying not to grumble. I was hoping to use the old tyres for three meetings and then one new set for the rest of the season. I had already half decided that I would be better pff going for the new tyres in the colder wether.

All said and done seems like a good price.

Mark
:D

Such impatience last year the New Era entry regs were issued on the 25th Feb, Even post about who was riding in 2010 didn't start until the first week of Feb

According to Jean at New Era they will be sorting out the entry forms next week, not sure when they will make them available for download, but the forms they send us will need to go to the printers so could be another couple of weeks until we get them

and what a shambles last year was. Half of us did'nt get Brands tickets in time due to NE leaving things to the last minute.

Today I will be mostly GRUMPY.

The biggest problem was that they apparently didn't put enough postage on them... most of us had to pay the extra postage in the week after Brands.

Yep the wrist bands made the package to thick for standard post so in most cases rather than deliver them the post office delayed things by sorting us out with a note telling us we had a package that needed some postage paying on it.

New Era had two rounds before the Brands BSB last year that we didn't take part in and they had their entries through in time
