Prescott Bike Festival Sunday 10th April

I have booked a club stand measuring 10 meters by 6 meters for this event for which I should get 14 entry tickets for club members.

http://www.prescottbikefestival.com/

Nearer the time I will be asking for volunteers that are willing to come along to the event and display their bikes and help man the stand.
Its early days yet, but I would like to think we could have something similar to what we have done at the Popham megameet in the past but using the Party Tent we used in the Ducati Village at the Donington WSBk event in 2009.

Anybody interested in coming along and lending a hand please email me at skidlids@ntlworld.com and I will draw up a list.

Having been to Prescott before (and Gurston Down) to watch the odd Hill Climb I couldn't resist the oppotunity to have a go myself, so I've paid my money and booked a couple of runs up the hill on my 1100 Monster

Not that far off now so time to try and sort a few things
The DSC envelope turned up containing 3 vehicle passes and 8 wrist bands, I also have a fewl more wrist bands that came in my pack along with my Run the Hill entry, not as many as I was expecting but only a couple short.

So looking for 12 volunteers, ideas and things to help us put together a stand

Once I've checked the paperwork I will see how the vehicle passes are used, They may be for Vans only and not bikes.
There will be no movement of vehicles in the showground after 8:30am so a bit of a early start required.
I'm going up on Saturday in my van along with two of my bikes.

Do we go for the Party tent or has anyone got a couple of Gazebos we can use, also banners etc. I have a Ducati banner I picked up at the Ducati village at Donington a couple of years ago.

I'm looking into getting some DD flyers printed up and we also need to get some membership forms printed

As with the Popham Megameet and the BMF Rally the stand area is Grass so some wooden stakes will come in Handy unless someone has some proper metal stakes they use for roping off areas. Also pieces of wood or plastic pucks to go under the sidestands.

Kev and Trudi have already siad they will help as has Steve Klee (Imola Duke) and if James (007) offer above still stands we have 4 plus myself.

Our Display area is 10M X 6M so we should be able to display a decent amount of bikes

bradders 27-Mar-2011 22:54

Nick is away so would have to be in the car and with son in tow, see if I can convince him...

Kev, we used to have a load of the metal stake things to use for roping off area's-back from when we used to do a Ducati parking area at Superbike rounds-LONG time ago! I don't know who might have them if they still exist-possibly Chris??
I did stick my hand up to help and bring either Mutley or the RT if you want then.

Hello Kev,

I'm still happy to help, but as I will be coming from Henley-on-Thames, a pre-8.30am start is early. I guess a 2 hour run should do it.

Anyone in the area fancy joining up for a ride in together?

Thanks & best regards,

James

Dementor 28-Mar-2011 18:43

Kev, what is bike parking like (hardstanding/grass?) and what is security like?

Imola Duke 28-Mar-2011 20:17

I have a 3mx3m gazebo and i'm still trying to get the old fella to bring his MHR bevel rep.

Will there be anyone riding to the event on Sunday? If so I'd like to tag along. Please let me know where to meet and what time. I'll be coming from Henley.

Thanks indeed.

Kev

How many bikes are you looking at putting on the stand/how many do you have? Let me know if you want my 848 (Corse ;) ) or my DD bike and I will try to figure out the logistics.

Roy after reading your post I emailed the Festival organiser and here is the reply I got back

Hi Kevin

When the Bike Park is full, the overflow is on grass. We’re providing pucks (for a voluntary donation) if / when we move to grass.

Like every event I know of – no, there is no car park security. Suggest the guys who are concerned arrive early and get into the hard standing bike park, which is in the paddock, someone will be there most of the time and certainly no big refrigerated vans will have access!

The Gazebo would be really useful Steve and the bike a good addition to the range

Ron I was thinking of 8 to 10 bikes, a couple of DD bikes and the rest road bikes

Kev P will be providing one of the DD bikes and I could provide another

Buggsy is probably bringing his 916SPS, I’ll have my 1100 Monster there but as I’m down to do a couple of runs up the Hill Climb I may have to park it elsewhere.

So a trick 848 such as yours would be most welcome

James (007) has also volunteered

John if your still willing I think either Mutley or the RT would be good additions to the stand

I will try and finalise a list Friday Saturday so I can then get addresses and send out passes early next week

So at the moment we could be looking at

Kev P – DD bike
Buggsy – 916SPS
Monty – RT or Mutley
Steve Klee – MHR
James (007) – 996
Ron Jolley – 848 or DD bike
Kev E (as in me) M1100 & DD bike or 998

Hello Kev,

Yes indeed I'm still coming. I plan to leave Henley around 6am, to get to the show ~8am. My mobile number is 07879 015 008, could you text me your number so we can coordinate closer to the time, regarding passes, entrance and meeting points etc.

Look forward to it, despite the early start.

Regards,

James

No worries. That is probably easier for me anyway. I don't have to worry about cars or trailers, I can just ride it up there from that London. e-mail or text me when you know exactly what is going on.

Also, if any of you taking a van has a 996/748 etc paddock stand you fancy taking along, it should fit the 848 and make a proper show of it (I don't fancy throwing my stand over my shoulder!! ;) )

skidlids 31-Mar-2011 19:32

Here is the latest update from the organisers, Note the bit about vehicle movements on the last line. it may be possible to get bikes on to the stand after 8:30, although you may have to push them
And best I read the rules again.

Only nine days to go.

Exhibitor space is now fully booked!

We’re now including a free prize draw with a top prize of 2 x VIP tickets to a BSB round plus other prizes. Draw is at 4:00pm on the Sunday, prizes going to those who are still there. Good for us in terms of data capture and good for you in we keep the visitors a little longer.

Just a couple of reminders for you:

· Any last minute marketing would be great – social media is ideal.
· Exhibitor Party on Saturday night – please confirm numbers if you haven’t already done so. Please don’t email me again if you have already!
· Same with Saturday night camping – please confirm numbers if you haven’t already done so. Please don’t email me again if you have already!
· Download and read the Exhibitor Manual if you haven’t already done so – ignorance of the rules is not an excuse

On set up, please be patient with the volunteers as they will be with you but it’s going to be busy and your cooperation in moving vehicles when asked would be most appreciated.

Remember – after 08:30 on the Sunday – no 4 wheel vehicle movement.

Dementor 31-Mar-2011 22:20

Thanks for the parking update Kev :)

skidlids 31-Mar-2011 22:49

Your welcome Roy

Just been having a bit of a trawl through the exhibitors manual, any electrical equipment we take to use needs to be PAT tested. Luckily I can do that so I had better get my hook up leads and light unit done and Kev P's as well

Imola Duke 01-Apr-2011 23:05

I think the best plan is to ride the Bevel over myself but that means i can't bring the gazebo unless someone picks it up or if some are going over the night before to camp i could drop it over then ?
I only live 12 miles away.

The remainder of the tickets I will be posting to Roy (Dementor) to distribute among those that join him for the ride to Prescott next Sunday

Kev P + Trudi (Displaying DD Bike)
Buggsy (Displaying 916SPS)
Matty + Chris (May display 1098R)
James 007 (Displaying 996)

Ron Jolley (Displaying 848)
Monty (Displaying Mutley or RT)

Martin Sisley (MJS) Hopefully Martin can tie up with Roy and see if there are any other tickets not used.
